Beta-Saurva and Beta-Zarich By: daeva_agas [More of my stuff] (2010/7/29 23:07) Hits: 107 Comments: 2 More about this item a.k.a D_A does more screentone practice. Annnd more of beta-version daevas make an appearance!!! Old skool daevas are fun to draw. Really. Of course, their outfits are the new designs because the old designs simple make no sense whatsoever that I can't even begin to understand just how those clothes fit on the body. My Zarich used to look like a man and Saurva used to look like.... Agas. Kind of. Well, the difference is kinda obvious. After all, a lot have changed. In my very first daeva concept, Saurva's the second youngest (Nanghaithya's youngest) and Zarich was third oldest, hence Zarich looking old and Saurva looking like my current Agas. Zarich didn't change much aside from the age and general appearance, so yeah. Oh, and he used to have legs instead of smoke. Saurva... well, you should be able to tell the difference. No scales and shorter hair. I've ranted about those somewhere else, so I'd rather not go there again. Toning: IT'S HARD!!!! I can't tell what the tones will look like when resized so I got scared of the coarser-looking tones. I mean, coarse and big-dotted tones tick me off so much in n00b comics and I don't want my work to look like THAT >___<Beta-Saurva: Think my current Agas but a whole lot more snobby, condescending, and annoying. Something like a weird combination of Gavin (from both AV1 and AV2), and early-game Nicholas and Lars. Which is why he often gets into a row with Agas. Knowing what Agas is like at that time (dictator, army general, and Spartan commander rolled into one), it's like going up and start dancing caramelldansen right in front of Hitler while dressed up as a rabbi. It's SUICIDE. Beta-Zarich: Almost never talks, is just so friggin quiet that if you don't see him you won't know he's there, and prefers to be ignored. If you know Hetalia, think Canada's "invisibility power". Well, he pretty much ignores everyone too, so it's like "I ignore you so please ignore me" kind of attitude. Oh, and apparently his voice sounds like the wind blowing. At that time Zarich is one of the characters that I don't actually care too much about, so there's not much to say about him.

Eh... Is this a picture you did a looooong time ago or are you in the middle of what you call the drawing-error syndrome while drawing this? Especially Zarich- his eyes are set too close together, the nose is too far from the mouth, and the strokes look stiff

Re: Beta-Saurva and Beta-Zarich
This is called "inking fail". I haven't inked with nib-pens in a while, so this is what happens. I stopped caring about it because I just wanted to practice toning, so I thought "Screw you, fail picture!" and proceeded anyway. About nose too far from mouth, I was doing a style practice too. Most shoujo manga do that with their guys, so I want to try if I can actually do that.
