In the past, astrologers divided the sky into 12 equal segments of 30 degrees each (totaling 360 degrees). Then they just chose the constellations that most fit into those segments. This is the Tropical Zodiac. If you go by the actual path of the sun and the constellations it passes through, you get the Sidereal Zodiac, which has 13 constellations. So, really, the zodiac with 13 signs is really more accurate, since it truly represents what the sun does. |
