Need: a requirement, necessary duty, or obligation Deserve: to be worthy of, qualified for, or have a claim to reward, punishment, recompense, etc. Someone may not be worthy of death, but the death sentence or whatever targets them for the safety of others.  What someone deserves can be very different from what they need and what they get. |
