| Day of Silence? |
Subject: Day of Silence? by AnnaMazinggx3 on 2008/4/25 1:35:25 Tomorrow is a nationally honored holiday in America-- Day of Silence. It is a day in which anyone who supports Gay Pride remains silent for the entire day (with a sign to show this) in honor of an eigth grade boy who was "silenced" for his sexual orientation. Is anyone here going to participate in the Day of Silence? It's really heavily broadcasted in California, but no one else seems to know about it. Personally, I think that we shouldn't only be supporting only one group. People are persecuted every day for race, religion, appearence, etc... not just sexual orientation. I think it's unfair that one 8th grade boy's persecution can trigger a nation-wide Day of Silence, while millions of Jews were once massacred, and we don't have a Day of Silence for them. That's why my friends and I made custom signs that stated that we were standing up for everyone who had ever been discriminated against-- not just gays. We're calling it Anti-Discrimination Day. We probably won't start our own national holiday, but hey, we're getting our middle school pretty riled up. xD Surprisingly, a lot of people are mad at us. Apparantly, because we think it's wrong to have a day only for gays, as if they're the only group that gets persecuted, we all hate gays. >____< I have two hours to speak! =o Anyways, what do you all think about this? |
