Re: Book Club Discussion: The Last Unicorn

I actually only finished the book last night. Oops. XD

Do you believe that the Unicorn/ Lady Amalthea truly loved Prince Lir when she was in the form of a human? Does she still love him once she is returned to her natural form?
-I think that when she was human, she loved him like a human would--with human emotions and all. When she was a unicorn again... She remembered those feelings, I don't doubt that. But I don't think that she felt them any more, you know? I just think that she knew nothing else could ever happen--that they would never be together.

If the butterfly speaks nonsense and as the unicorn said, “they mean well, but they can’t keep things straight” (pg 9), then why does the unicorn chose to believe the story of the Red Bull?
-Because just because they can't help but let the nonsense slip through when they're being serious, that doesn't mean that everything they say is nonsense.

By the way, was I the only one who felt like the main character changed during the course of the story? I just felt like it was more about Molly and Schmendrick than the unicorn when she was "Lady Amalthea."
