I joined the site not long after it started… back when it was the now infamous “purple site” (shocking how long ago that was).

What drove me to join… well, to be honest… it had nothing to do with RPG’s… in fact, I’d never played one before!

You see I met this girl (a familiar story starting point)… and when I saw her, my first thought; “Wow… this girl is going to be Trouble!”

She told me that she was working on a game she was calling “Aveyond” and gave me an early incomplete game. I remember my thinking; “Wow… what a Really Great lead-in”… then, I started wandering around lost asking myself; “What the heck is a Marionbell!?!?” Clearly, I’d played games before… by I was more of an “instant-gratification” game player (read: pick-up the game, shoot something, you win, you put the game down and look for something else).

To be honest, Aveyond 2 was the first RPG game I ever completed! I’m not sure if this was because of my strong affiliation with Ean (we do rather look alike… when viewed from the side), or perhaps it was Amanda relentlessly asking me where I was in the game, what I thought of it, and if I’d finished. I remember hours of trying to beat that Ice Queen with Ice Weapons… I saw what appeared to be damage I was causing… but yeah, clearly a rookie mistake.

After years of Aveyonds, a Grimm’s Hatchery, a Yummy Drink Factory (that Amanda was Really Excited about), and a few hidden-object games… I was sufficiently worn down and we finally decided to make it official and get married.

I often think about the role our games have played in the lives of our users, and because I do the “Tech Support”… I read about them quite regularly (thank you for your kind words… and those with the less-than kind words, well… I know who you are).

It’s been a wild and fulfilling ten years… and I truly look forward to reading all of your contributions here, and in the topic we make for our twenty year anniversary.
