The goal of the Romantic Poetry Contest was for people to write and submit romantic poetry from the point of view of an Aveyond character to another. Three entries were received - so come and vote for your favorite!

Entry 1 - Te'ijal to Galahad

My pet, I am enamored
Of your knightly human ways.
Though I ridicule you so,
I cannot call them off-putting.
As I have loved you
You have spurned me.
When first we met you were brash.
Capturing your soul,
I held in my hands bravery.
That, I have not forgotten.
Foolishly you demanded it back
But it was not without its price;
You became my husband,
I became your maker.
Through our years
You have called me many a curse.
I grew accustomed
To these love-names
And their vicious bite,
A wonderful sensation.
'Serpent-spawn' in the evening,
'Demon' in the morning,
And 'wife' when you felt kindly.
As we've traveled,
I have loved you all the more.
Your courage has grown
With each painful day,
As fast as your stubbornness.
I watch you struggle,
Yet never give in,
And I believe that, somehow,
You can best anyone.
Your tender, still-human heart,
The life of your undead existence,
and the sunlight in mine.

Entry 2 - Agas to Rhen

Roses are red
Violets is blue
...poems are hard.
Screw it, I'll just kidnap you

I know that you probably want to kill me
And my boss too
But give me a chance and you'll see
I actually really like you
~~I can't believe that actually rhymed~~
I know that you think I'm evil
And seek the demise of you and you're friends
I know that bratty green haired kid wants to infest my corpse with weevils
And I know it'll be a cold day in hell when you let me make amends
~~It's really hard to write rhyming things when you have an overgrown demonic abomination laughing his ass off at you~~
I know you'd sooner put your sword through my head
Than think of me that way
I know you really wish I'd spontaneously drop dead
I also know that so do they
~~Your really annoying friends, that is. That sun 'priest' is a filthy filthy liar, just so you know.~~
I know that I have about a snowballs chance in Saurva's shirt
Of getting so much as a civil conversation with you
But still, even though I'm probably just going to get hurt
Even so, I'll go on without further ado
~~Speaking of Saurva, I think he slipped something into my drink~~
To repeat, I know this is all very pointless
As I'm sure you won't agree
But, I'll go on regardless
Will you go out with me?
~~Oh lord, I'll just kill myself save you the hassle, shall I?~~

Entry 3 - Gyendal to Mel

So long I dwelled within the land of shadows
That thought I, “For sure, 'tis where I belong!”
The path of darkness I follow
And for eternal night I long

Perhaps 'twas a sign
When twilight I made my name
Though power I have in mind
What I truly want is not the same

I once thought of you a small fire
So powerless so insignificant
Though your persistance I could not help admire
As much as I was reluctant

But the your weak glow opened my eyes
To the heart I've long forgotten I possessed
Refusing to believe, I drowned myself in lies
And day by day I grew more distressed

I told myself I belong to the dark
To seek the light is to seek death
But every time I see your spark
I feel as though I have been cleft

You are the twilight to my midnight
The faded light I never knew I wanted
Your fire does not burn bright
But gave me the warmth I never knew I needed

I do not ask for your love
I do not ask you to be my bride
But if you will approve
I want to always be by your side
