(Benefits)

1) you have someone to play with or interact with while you're growing up.

2) You don't feel all alone

(Shortcomings)
1) sibling rivalry (a big issue) Shoran and I used to fight like cats and dogs when we were little...

2) receving me hand-me downs...


"Pros & "Cons" of being the ...child:
Disclaimers : The below content are based on my own understanding and it not 100% accurte to be applied to everyone on planet earth or this or other galaxies.

i)The eldest ones
-(cons)parents have high expectations of you and almost all responsibilities are placed on your shoulders. If a younger sibling causes trouble, you're also dragged into the matter and may even be blamed for not watching what the little ones did even sometimes it has nothing to do with you. When it comes to taking turns, you're most likely (by will or force) to compromise and let the younger siblings go first.

-(pros)You have little siblings to play with, being able to have someone to look after gives you some sort of feeling of achievement. Since you're the eldest, you get to experience certain things for the first time like getting new clothes especially after a growth spurt where your parents have to buy you new clothes because you grow taller and bigger way too fast

ii) Middle child or child no. 2,3,4...(etc) inculing all who are neither the eldest or the youngest...

-(cons)You may get bullying from the elder siblings and get into trouble caused by the younger siblings. You're practically stucked in between the eldest and the youngest siblings. You're bound to get hand-me-downs unless your elder siblings are of the opposite gender (or your parents like making you cross dress for some twisted purposes--normally observed in anime/manga storyline LOL xD)

-(pros) You have elder siblings who (might)take care of you, guide you with homework and stand up for you if some bully is giving you a hard time. Plus younger siblings to play with.

iii) Youngest child
-(cons)You are the one who is most likely to receive hand-me-downs and get bullied if your elder siblings are the bullying type. If your siblings are way older than you, you may feel out of place.

-(pros) You are the youngest member in the family and everyone (might)love and spoil you (til you're rotten, opps...this can be a con too)In terms of taking turns , you're most likely the first to play with something or the first to choose the best fruit or part of a meal...

(as I said this is not entirely true and some may be some ranthing or exaggerations from me )

Hello, everyone! I love reading through this topic, it's so interesting learning about everyone...it's such a fun group of people we have here on Amaranthia.

Nicknames: LadyMeowlet, Meowlet, Kierstan...um, that's all I can think of right now.
Location: Nebraska, USA (is anyone else on here from Nebraska? I haven't seen one). I lived in south-central Missouri for several years while I was in college and graduate school, though.
Age: I'm in my 30s (and my how the time flies )
Occupation: I have an engineering degree that I'm not using (long story ), and I work for the fraud department of an internet company.
Likes: Pets, music, sports, gaming, reading (primarily fantasy, but also love history), learning channels on TV (like Discovery, Animal Planet, HGTV, things like that), board games, card games, video games (although my collection is very out-of-date ), baking, the original Iron Chef, RPG's...the list could go on and on
Dislikes: People who are cruel to animals, people who try to cheat other people, being tired, being annoyed...those are the main things sticking out right now.
Other random stuff: I live with my wonderful fiance, who I've been with for almost 7 years. I love having pets but don't have any right now and I really miss having them. I want to get more pet rats (and they're awesome pets!), but the complex I live in doesn't allow them...think I'm going to have to sneak some in. >.>

...yep, I think I've babbled at you enough for now I can usually only visit on weekends becuase of the hours I work, but I love being here and it's great to see everyone!

However, I have lots of pressure from my family and if my parents passed out, I would totally be alone [Since my parents are the only child in their family too]...I'm not sure if I ever want a sibling...

Jas ~ Homeschooled means, yes, that we study at home. Usually a parent or occaisionally a tutor does the organizing and assigning. It can get just as tough as regular school, and can be more confusing sometimes too, but the statistics are interesting. Apparently in every comparison ever taken, homeschoolers have scored at least 20% better than the public school average. I just hope that I hold true to that tradition

@ Jas - I love all sorts of animals. I prefer rats to hamsters because rats (to me) are more fun to play with, you can train them, they do better in at least pairs (most hamsters I've known tend to be solitary and don't take well to cagemates), among other things.
