The Thank you
Never will I think that sleeping in is a good idea on Christmas Day, unless you want your ear shrieked of be a blue haired girl... Rhen.
“Lars! Lars! Wakeup! Wakeup! Its time for gifts! Come on!” Rhen is very strong I noticed... When she has her mind set to a difficult task. Her task was dragging a very sleepy, mad, hungry, Lars out of his, soft, warm, comfortable bed... A mistake on her part.
“Uhhhhhhhhhg. Not now Rhen... go away, why are you screaming... Let me go back to sleep.” I am not in a good mood when I get waken up at three in the morning... Huh, I wonder why...
Right now I wish Rhen had gone to knitting school, not a school of War and Magic. I do not like falling like five feet to the ground and landing on my back only too look up and notice I’m being dragged. Also being half asleep and being dragged all the way down a hall can make a person cranky.
Ok so maybe waking Te’ijal had surprised me... Obviously Rhen wasn’t thinking when she had ran into Te’ijal’s room... Yet, there Te’ijal was, standing by the Christmas tree. Along with everyone else, looking... Happy, clean, friendly, and most surprising not beat up...
We all sat down in a circle, Rhen looked the happiest... also something new, to many new things it’s overwhelming, especially when you had just woken up... And have been being Lars for... well your whole life.
I’ve never really had a real Christmas; I realized this after Rhen opened her first gift... It was a pair of boots, in fact we all got boots... We all needed them too; lots of travel can do that to a person. We were drinking hot coco and tea; Galahad had whispered huge thanks into my ear about how much he liked the stress stone.
It all felt so real, all my other Christmases were somehow fake feeling, a gift opened a million dollars received, it was so unreal. This was like having a Christmas with a real family, MY family, and a strange, confusing, tough, big family.
Rhen was opening the box that held the locket; I really hoped she liked it. I walked over and sat on the floor next to her, handing her the paper that held the words to the spell. She opened the box and light came out of it... not kidding, there was like glowing golden light coming out of the locket! She gave a little gasp, and just stared at it... I don’t like moments where no one says anything... so.
“Here, this was put on the lockets. Read it... I don’t know its kind of neat.” She opened the paper, and she read the page, she either reads really slowly or likes to reread things. So again I broke the silence.
“Its some sort of prophecy.” Yep that’s me no strange moments Lars.
“Its beautiful...” she set the box down and grabbed me giving me a huge hug. “Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!” so embarrassing!
She hung the locket around her neck. I am sure my face is really red, one from being squeezed so hard, and two from blushing. Red is also another color I do not think looks good on skin.
Te’ijal was about to open Galahads gift to her I wanted to watch this. I could hardly hold in my giggles, Galahad was starting to glare at me so I think I really should shut up... In less being Vampire dinner is fun...
Te’ijal took off the first layer, the next, and kept going, this is all too funny. I am probably turning purple now, from holding in laughter, also a terrible color on anyone’s face. This probably wouldn’t last so I soaked in all the greatness of knowing a prank was going on. Te’ijal finally threatened someone... I think maybe Elini... who of course was already laughing.
“If you don’t shut up I’ll eat you!” then the gifts real paper fell off and Te’ijal actually smiled... not a comforting sight... epically when she has a trick up her sleeve.
Galahad opened his gift and with that... The Christmas tree blew up. I think I got hit with like a million pine needles, maybe also a bit of wood... sitting next to a blowing up Christmas tree is NOT a good idea. But all the same we all started laughing, even though I felt like I was really bruised... Pranks sometimes hurt, but are fun all the same.
Someone knocked on the door as we finished, my turn for the Prank.

Oh Avey, liking it! Oh, and writing like max is NOT your usual writing style, I know it. When I read Max, or any Maxmum ride books for that matter, my writing style changed drastically. So did Hiccup's.

|Re: Ending a Black Heart (RxL)||#50|
k well I will have shymeara and hiccup go through the story and pick the parts they want me to change back but for now heres the next part! enjoy!
The fall, and the midnight ball
We all hurried to the door... I, being the only one knowing what was about to happen to the poor human on the other side. Another, and another, something’s really can get annoying, all the better for me to enjoy the prank. Rhen opened the door a short man was standing there with a note in his hand... and he suddenly screamed, and was covered in snow. All he needed now was a pipe and a hat, perfect snowman! We still had the giggles from the last two pranks, but we got it all over again... this time harder. I’m good and I know it.
The man shoved the last pile of snow off of him and spoke... I don’t know if I heard him right though because the others and I were still laughing. But it sounded a little like this.
“Ladies and Gentlemen... I invite you to the Kings Ball.”
Rhen’s face froze, King... Who was King? She would have been queen, but was on a mission, would she have to marry the freak whoever it was? All the same Elini thought it would be better then an UN royal ball
“Of course we will attend!” She sent us all looks, so did Te’ijal. I wonder if royal blood tastes better because she also was eager to go.
“It will begin at midnight the gates will then close so don’t be late!” and with that he hurried off to the carriage awaiting him. But the little man had missed a spot right on his bottom, it was covered with snow, and we all started a new round of laughter.
That afternoon the girls spent hours getting ready, the guys spent time getting ready... I just combed my hair, Which IS something rather new, you just don’t have time do it while battling potentially evil thing. Oh I also cleaned my cloak, it no longer has blood on it, and this didn’t take long because other than for battle, magic can also be used for household things like cleaning cloths.
I had hours left, and watching the girls only held a certain amount of amusement. There gowns, were like really detailed, I now feel sorry for the person that used to make all my cloths, there was like billions of stupid, tiny stitches in just one.
It turned out that they had bought like three each, if I had known they would want me to tell them which one looked the best I wouldn’t have been there, its so darn boring! They would come out of the bathroom one at a time and spin, I would then have to say no or yes. I tell you they are just DRESSES not there whole life never the less I had to stay and decide. After an hour of this I couldn’t take it any longer.
“ Ok, Elini, you should wear the gray blue one, Te’ijal you the really dark red one, Mad Marge, you wear the dark pink one, and Rhen the dark blue one! Now I am going to go build a snow man, you people enjoy the rest of your primping.” Mad Marge was going this time, she couldn’t refuse, 1) great food 2) possible meeting royalty 3) Te’ijal was making her.
We all finished our getting ready, I was finished with my snowman of doom, I tell you I’m really good at snowmen, I had made this one look like Dameon, then practiced doing evil things to it. Like, poking it in the eye, and chopping its head off... and things like that. Rhen came out just as a passing by bird did a poo; it landed on the fake Dameon’s head, making her and me start laughing.
We ate a very formal dinner, which was broken with jokes, which of course set the mood for the rest of the dinner. We acted like our true selves, not polite, and well like travelers. Burping, not asking please, not saying thank you, in every way US.
We all sat in the living room after that every once and a while I would see Rhen touching the locket. It matched her dress that was one of the main reason I had chosen the blue dress, it all went perfectly, the ringlets piled on top of her head, also blue, the one small ringlet still hanging down the side of her face. We were all getting tired of waiting but finally at eleven thirty we left.
We all were holding hands somewhat skipping, if you CAN skip in a dress. It was snowing and pitch black, our breath was visible and we again looked really awesome, even without our weapons, even if you didn’t know we just like practically saved the world. The sight of us ALL skipping and holdings hands can be a strange sight, especially if you know we had two vampires with us.
We arrived at the castle just in time, as the gates closed right as we were entering the castle. It was very crowded in the castle and Te’ijal looked... very thoughtful.

|Re: Ending a Black Heart (RxL)||#51|
Kings Ball or Princes Ball?
We walked to the main ballroom there we saw a room full of people dancing, with no worries, we all stood there and finally Te’ijal dragged Galahad off. That gave the others an ‘OK’ and Elini and Pirate John started to make there way into the crowd. Mad Marge found the food table and hurried over to it, piling food on to her plate. Rhen and I went and danced for a while.
After about ten minutes, Te’ijal came back still dragging Galahad, Elini and Pirate John stopped dancing and come over too. Mad Marge had Joined Rhen and I about five minutes ago, so we were all together again.
Then a person came up to us, not just any person, but one with a crown on his head, he looked to be about my age, except of course he was a gentleman and probably couldn’t snarl as well as I could.
“Your Highness” he bowed down and kissed Rhen’s hand, Rhen looked like she was about to barf. She sent me a worried looked; she didn’t want anyone to know she was supposed to be queen of Thais.
“I’m Prince Rowan, this is my fathers ball. Your eyes, how they shine, my lady, I have been waiting hours to meat you.” I felt like I would barf if I heard him speak again, I decided I really didn’t like this guy. I don’t think Dameon would like him either, well that would be one thing we agreed on.
The Prince was tall, brown haired, green eyed, and of all things the princeliest looking guy I have ever seen. I wondered if he could fight good enough to live. He wasn’t leaving, to my horror.
“You have the most beautiful hair I have ever seen, and did I mention how your eyes shine?” he knew how to charm people didn’t he. He already had Rhen looking very pleased he made me so mad!
“Would you and your friends care to join me at the dinning table? I would love to hear more about you.” Ok now he was making me want to ask Te’ijal to do a favor for me. He started walking to a different room, and to my surprise Rhen fallowed, so that meant we all would fallow also, and I would have to listen to the prince.
We all sat down, making me even madder when Rhen sat at the chair right next to the head of the table where the prince was sitting. I then settled down at the end of the table as far away as I could get from that THING, the prince.
“So I heard you have fought in many battles, your mother and father are they well?” Rowan said
“Ah, yes, and No my parents are dead. What about you do you do any sword practice.” I could believe Rhen had just told him that she had no parents!
“So why are you not Queen then?” Rowan was really getting on my nerves.
“For one I must marry, and I am in the midst of my travels at the moment.” Even what Rhen was saying was making me feel sick.
“Ah yes, same with me, except I am not traveling.” I couldn’t take it any longer. I shot up from my seat, pretending to gag on something; I’m not that dumb.
“I need to go.” I said. With that I ran out and down the hall, out the door and into the night.
The sickness disappeared, and I felt like I could breath again. I tried to do some magic that always seamed to make me feel better. I held out my hand, nothing happened, I did it again this time I got a few shards of ice to fly from my hand. Something was wrong, with my magic.
I breathed slowly trying to calm my self, and held out my hard, this time a tiny flame, not enough to even singe something. I did it once more and let my entire Magic flood into it; I got it to do a flame about the size of a bird. I normally couldn’t do a lot with out my staf, but normally I could at least get a flame the size of a towel, normally.
Feeling well enough to see people again I walked back to the castle, feeling upset, but nothing I couldn’t deal with, like earlier. I stood on the edge of the dancing people; I could see my friends dancing. Rhen was dancing with THAT prince Rowan. I was mostly just a dark figure standing, watching. Rhen’s smiling face would pass by every now and then; I guess she never had been with other royalty.
I stood there ‘till five in the morning, when my friends all came out smiling, having a good time. We then left because they were all tired. We walked in the still cold darkness everyone was talking. Te’ijal about frightening some guests, Mad Marge about someone who would like to work on her farm, Galahad about an old friend he had seen, Pirate John about how great Elini had bean, and Elini how great it was to be at the ball, and Rhen was blabbering on about that stupid prince!
“He was so polite! He complemented me on my hair! And He actually is great at fighting! His father is going to set up a school for the poor! Oh isn’t he wonderful! Oh and he wants to come on our journey with us!” We all stopped talking and looked at Rhen, even me who had been avoiding her.
“What!” we all said at the same time.
(sorry people didn't see this before here it is if things were not klicking!)
“He wants to join our party!” Rhen sounded all too happy for me to feel like saying ‘Oh great! Just what we needed, now that my powers don’t work we need someone to replace me.’ But I wasn’t planning on speaking to anyone if I could help it.
A sudden zap of electricity ran through me knocking my to my hands and knees, my locket was glowing, a dark, black glow, but a glow all the same. Another zap hit me and I heard a voice in my head, of was it my heart, “You have to take the next step Lars, don’t let the light dim.” By light it meant Rhen and her locket, the power had seamed to lessen during the time at the ball, and I knew what the voice meant.
Te’ijal was kneeling down next to me in a second, she always seemed to have a soft spot in her hard heart for me, and she was like an older sister to me. “What’s wrong Lars?” She asked in the most concerned voice a vampire can use.
“My magic, it –it” and I couldn’t finish because I had blacked out.
I lay gasping for air on my bed the others around me, I had been out for an hour, I hadn’t breathed the whole time, and they had found out that the locket was the only thing keeping my alive. It had been shining on and off dark and normal than dark and then normal again, like it was breathing for me.
When I had gotten back to my normal status the questioning began.
“What happened Lars?” Elini started.
“Ok so, Dameon has contacted me several times, once you thought I was dead, that was in Veldarah. I wasn’t Dameon almost killed me He is after Rhen. He was attacking me once, and you guys thought I had died, I couldn’t stand it, I attacked him in my mind, and killed a part of me, I think it was my magic.” Explaining is harder than it seams
“Was that why you ran out of the castle last night?” Te’ijal asked, I was surprised she had actually noticed, I thought no one had.
“Uh, no. But when I went out side, I tried to do magic it wasn’t working. I think it’s draining out of me. I wont be any use to you any more.”
“So why did you fall last night?” Galahad asked
“I think Dameon was trying to kill me, and my locket was trying to keep him away, so it was trying to not hurt me at the same time, all it could do was zap, it kept Dameon out. It also hurt me less than it would if Dameon was attacking me.”
Just then there was a knock at the door and Mad Marge went to answer it, it was the Prince.
“Ah I heard one of you was ill and came to see you.” I started to feel sick, the one thing I hadn’t told them was that I thought why Dameon had attacked me was he thought that I was the one who had been dancing with Rhen earlier. If he ever got in my mind again I would tell him about the prince, I still didn’t like the guy for one, and certainly didn’t want to take double punishment.
Mad Marge walked into the room fallowed by the prince, who was fallowed by a doctor. Rhen jumped up from the spot she had been sitting on the bed.
“Rowan! I’m so glad you came!” she ran over and gave him a hug, making me feel worse.
“Rhen! I’m so sorry to hear about... Lars? Its Lars right? I brought one of the best doctors to take a look at him.
“Oh thank you Rowan!” obviously none of the others believed my story, because they actually let the doctor come to me!
“Ok... Lars. Now what seems to be the problem?” The doctor asked
“Oh nothing you would get! Now move it before I kill someone!” I jumped up from the bed and made a transport in the air. ‘Later traders!’ I felt like saying then I jumped into the opining.
I heard the shouts of the others, but they soon faded away, and all I could feel was the mist around me, the feeling of spinning, darkness. It all stopped and I found myself in an ally. I heard crying, I felt like doing a bit of it myself, but my eyes were dry. I walked toward the sound.
It was a little girl around the age of eight, her long maroon hair tangled and hanging in her face, which was in her hands that were on her knees. I came and sat down next to her and have her a hug. I knew this little girl; in fact she was one of the little people that had fallowed me around when I was younger.
“What’s wrong Molly?” she looked up and she smiled
“Lars!” she gave me a big hug.
“My best friend just died.” She started to cry again
“That’s to bad. I haven’t been having a cotton candy day either though. I so sorry, but I’m glad to see you.” She gave a little sniffle and looked back up at me.
“I’m living with my aunt now, my parents are in jail. For mistreating slaves.” Her parents had brought us Rhen.
“You know that slave you brought us a long time ago with the blue hair?”
“Well she turned out to be a princess, and we are best friends now.” I didn’t care if I told someone Rhen’s secrete, if she could tell a prince, I could tell a commoner.
“Yeah” Then she told me all about what had happened to her, and we sat there for hours, I told her about our journeys and she actually liked it. It was time to finally go.
“I have to go now Molly, I hope I’ll see you again soon!” and I opened up the portal and leaped in. The spinning began it was amazing, and all my anger, well at least most of it spun out of me, leaving me to feel less sick and more free.
I landed in a heap on the floor of the living room, where to my distaste Rowan, Rhen and the others were all sitting. All of them were staring at me like I was something different; they had never seen me before. This can happen though if someone suddenly drops out of thin air and lands on the floor in front of you.
“Lars? Where did you go?” Te’ijal asked
“Umm. To see a friend.” I mumbled and walked out of the room.
“What is wrong with him?” I heard Elini say, but it was distant because I was thinking of ways to find Dameon.

Toothless you contradict you self and confuse me. You said in one of your parts (part 13) that the ball was moved to Christmas night blah blah and that night they went to the ball or something and went dress shopping. Your second to last post, they are going to the King's ball, and they go shopping ALL OVER AGAIN...what is up with that? EXPLAIN! I'm so confused!

|Re: Ending a Black Heart (RxL)||#58|
I walked into my room, there lying on the bed was my staf I ran over to it, would I really loose my magic? Would Rhen hate me, and go off with Rowan? Was the world going to end because I couldn’t stop stupid Dameon? Would we be eating and boiled by witches and vampires? Did Rhen like Rowan? Did Rhen hate me? Would everyone loose his or her dreams because I hadn’t killed Dameon?.........Had Te’ijal ever eaten a human?
My hand tightened around the staf, it felt weak, not like its powerful, normal self. Like me, was Dameon draining me? Would they except Rowan and reject me? Stinkin powers, sometimes they decided your fate for you.
I quietly walked back to the living room, I stayed in the hall, listening, hoping. Don’t let anyone ever tell you ease dropping isn’t good... It really works, its fun, and useful.
“So do you really think Lars has no more power?” Elini asked, of all people I would think she would be answering the stupid question. None of them should know the answer ‘cause I didn’t even know the answer!
“Well... Yeah, ok maybe he is a lying, cheating, boasting freak... But still, he saved the world, and he never EVER has done us any real wrong. I don’t think he would lie about this sort of thing.” Leave it to Rhen to break a guys heart.
The locket seamed to fill with power for a second, like Rhen had actually thought of something nice about me in her messed up head. Like it brought back a memories, like rolling down a hill, or carrying her all the way to an inn like two freaking miles away!
“So Lars saved the world? Than why are you on a mission?” There was that voice! That Rowan!
“Yeah, I was suppose to, but Ahriman put a spell on me, I was about to join his side when Lars killed him. Unfortunately, This guy that was in our party turned out to be evil, and he got away. Now Lars says that Dameon, they guy who got away, wants me to rule to world with him. Lars also says that Dameon is killing him, I’m not sure what to think.” I couldn’t believe that Rhen had told the freak all about MY confused life!
“You shouldn’t have had to go through all this! A lady should enjoy life, not die for everyone else! If I had only knew my Lady!” That Rowan I tell you asking Te’ijal something was starting to become more and more appealing every second.
“All the same, I think Lars really doesn’t have any more magic, sure he opened a portal, but I think he had a portal stone in his pocket, besides that locket he has seams to bring him things when he REALLY needs it, I think it is trying to save his life. I feel sorry for Lars; I see his point of not telling us until he had to. If he did we would just worry, and we cant protect his mind from Dameon, but if he didn’t tell us he would be the only one worrying about him, and he wouldn’t have to show pain, or tell us anything. But he seams to be going inside of him self lately, not talking much, not even to Rhen, Te’ijal, or Elini.” I don’t get my friends anymore, Galahad had just summed up just about everything, right in front of Rowan.
“I wonder if he still wants to come with us.” Mad Marge said, HELLO its like ok I travel with you guys for what like 2 years? Now you want to know if because of a sudden lack of magic I want to go back to my mother who had nothing better to do than torture slaves and have tea with her so called friends. Not likely.
“All the same I don’t think he would ditch his only friends. By the way Rowan what did you decide about joining us?” Rhen? Why was she doing this!
“Ah yes, I have asked my father, he says it would be good for me, to have experience of the world before I become king.” That prince I tell you I am sure to barf several times if he comes, not that I don’t already... just a thought.
“Um Rhen may I speak to you for a second?” Te’ijal asked, right now in my mind Te’ijal was like being my hero, if she would just threaten her... and he wouldn’t be aloud to join...
I heard Te’ijal pull Rhen into the Kitchen, so I passed through the hallways and into a little door that led into the back of the pantry. I moved into the pantry that was still full of all kinds of food, this house is perfect for spying on people.
“Are you crazy! How do you know he is not evil!?” Te’ijal hissed.
“Not to be rude, but Te’ijal you’re not a perfect angel yourself.” When had Rhen turn so stubborn... had she been listing to my comments and remarks too much?
“I enjoy being a vampress!”
“Well I’m the leader and I say he comes!” There voices rose a little above a whisper, I really thought it was stupid of Rhen to argue with a VAMPRESS, but she had made me sick several times in less than one week, so I’d cope.
“Fine! But if he does anything any of us don’t like you either ditch him or I’ll eat him! Even if his blood tastes like the spoiled rotten brat he is!” Way to go Te’ijal!
“He is not a brat! He is a gentleman and a prince, one of MY types! And you would be sentenced to death if you killed him!”
“Not to sound full of my self sweetie, but I’m already dead.”
“Fine! Whatever! But he’s coming and that’s final!” with that Rhen turned and walked stiffly back into the living room. Fallowed by a very bloodthirsty looking Te’ijal.
“You may accompany us on our journeys Rowan.” I heard Rhen say as I made my way back to my spot in the hallway. There were a few grunts and whispering among the group than one by one the walked into the dining room, leaving Rhen and Rowan standing there, looking unsure weather to fallow or not. This is when I find it most convenient to join the others, looking mad, and well just sick, and sad, and me as I have been for the last few days.
“Lars! I’m so glad to see your feeling... umm Ok.” Te’ijal still looked mad, but seeing me made her feel better I can tell. I think the soft spot in her heart for me might have been created because, I liked doing a lot of stuff she did. Had a bad temper, and well lets just say we both weren’t fond of Rowan.
“Uh, yeah. I feel ok. I just wish...” Yeah Te’ijal would be the only one ever to really get me. She knew what I meant.
“I’m sure it will come back. Lars, magic is your life, it can’t leave you or you would die, or go insane. You look sane to me, maybe you just forgot or something, or just lost some of it. But, Lars, I know you will be fine, you always come through.” Te’ijal was also the only one who could make me feel somewhat better and worse at the same time.
“Yeah the options of being insane are starting to sound great. Not that I’m not already its just... I feel incomplete with out it, like my brain just got cleaned and all the magic got dumped. I don’t know I just don’t feel right.” Yeah that was exactly how I felt, except I hadn’t mentioned the idiot Rowan problem.
“It will be ok Lars.”
We all sat on the edge of the inner courtyard wall looking down at Rowan, whom was sword fighting. I think everyone except Rhen was groaning inside his or her own precious mind. This guy had like no magic, how freaky was that! Besides loosing my powers they had just gained another powerless thing, Rowan couldn’t hardly sword fight let alone doing anything special during it. But Rhen was still dieing to go and tell him how brilliant he was.
The princess side of Rhen was starting to show more and more, she would now tell us it wasn’t polite to not say please or thank you. If she started to want us to bow down to her, or say your highness, she was hitting a dead end.
Besides it being REALLY cold, it was sunny out; like it couldn’t snow on the day I wanted it to! If it started to snow, I wouldn’t have to watch this pathetic performance, and Rhen bout stop saying how great he was, we would be at home and I could talk to Te’ijal about my missing magic problem.
So far Te’ijal had stayed up all night, along with Galahad who watched us perform outside. We had tried jogging my memories, that hadn’t worked. We tried doing things with the locket, also didn’t work. I tried using like ten covey balm, which also did not work. All we had managed to do was get really cold, now Rhen was forcing us to watch Rowan.
“Oh wasn’t that stunning!” Rhen said in delight
“Oh yes completely pathetic.” Te’ijal was like the best friend I could have at this moment
Everyone else groaned again as a new component came for Rowan. Te’ijal and I exchanged glances, wondering when the loser, Rowan, would loose his head and we could go inside.
“Rhen is this almost over, I’ve seen enough fighting to last me the rest of my life. Thank goodness people don’t fight on coconut farms.” Mad Marge asked
“Gosh this guy couldn’t hit a huge bolder if he tried!” Elini exclaimed immediately shutting her mouth, I guessed that hadn’t meant to come out, it just did.
Finally it was over and the ‘stunning’ Rowan came and joined us. Rhen jumped up and gave him a hug.
“Oh Rowan! That was amazing!” Rhen could do better herself, and didn’t even mention that! I’m so bad that I just had to say it.
“Hey Rhen you’ll get out of practice, why don’t you and Rowan fight for a bit! You don’t want to forget how to fight... like me.” Ok I am sooooo brilliant! Te’ijal caught on and helped me.
“Ah yes, Rhen you should, that would be so good for you both! Besides, Rowan, you don’t know Rhen until you’ve seen her fight! Trust me you’ll do fine!” Ok Te’ijal could convince a fish do be dinner, she was really good at it.
Rhen and Rowan hesitated, and then nodded, they couldn’t refuse, it would make them look like a coward, and then they both nodded. They walked down into the courtyard, where the battle began. As usual Te’ijal and I were on the same page.
“Ok Lars now try as hard as you can now, and try and contact your locket. Then tell it to sent some dark power to the light, this will make Rhen really strong, and she will not be really easy just so she a. wont hurt him and b. wont show off.”
“Yeah, just a second.”
I searched my mind and grasped the darkness, and spoke to my locket “Ok now I see the light fighting, now go as fast as lightning, send the darkness to the light, put my power in my mind, the darkness, to not go easy, find her now, you must go quickly.” I felt some of the darkness lessen than I felt light headed, like I had stayed up for maybe four days, not sleeping.
We all watched as Rhen started to spin, lunge, duck, and the sound of a fight came up to us, and to Te’ijal and my delight Rowan was losing. It was over in a second, Rhen had a foot on Rowan, holding him down, the sword in her hand pointed toward him. Te’ijal and I did a high five we were so bad!
“Now that was something worth sitting in the cold for!” Pirate John said, him and Elini were the coldest, not being use to as much freezing weather, so was Mad Marge, but she didn’t really care.
Rhen came up fallowed by an exhausted Rowan. Rhen just had to be nice to him didn’t she! The darkness flooded back to me, not linking being uninvited into the light. Which is ‘kinda weird ‘cause HELLO it dark, evil, not polite, and not worried about other people... Right?
“Oh I’m so sorry, we should have done this later! You were to tired from fighting for hours before!” Rhen had to make it OK of course.
“Oh, yes.” Rowan drew in short breaths... I wondered how much the darkness had helped Rhen, to have no feelings while fighting...
“Ok people I don’t know about you but I am freezing so I’m heading home. Te’ijal, Lars? Want to come with?” Galahad asked
“Yeah!” we both said at the same time.
“Great, Lars you want to practice some more, or our you beat? I mean after we get some coco we could try again...” Te’ijal said
“Sounds good to me!” and with that we all walked off, fallowed by Mad Marge, Pirate John, and Elini... Was it just me or did Rhen look like she was just hit by a bolder, then I heard the lockets voice inside of me.
“She is wondering why you all are leaving her.”
“Well why don’t you tell her that once she gets rid of the jerk, and goes back to her normal, non princess ways she can actually walk with us with out us gagging.” Sometimes I can be really mean. But not now, I was just telling the truth. The locket shut up.

|Re: Ending a Black Heart (RxL)||#59|
“Ok now try throwing be a ball of fire at me, and just in case it works don’t aim at my head!” Te’ijal and I were in the front yard practicing, Galahad was watching us; Elini and Mad Marge were inside baking cookies, for when I broke down and started sobbing because I had lost my powers. We saw Rhen and Rowan heading our way but didn’t stop.
“Lars! Ice is like the opposite of fire! I said Fire!” I had just thrown her a ball of ice, not what she was hoping for, or ready for so it hit her and it looked like it hurt.
“What. Ice is easer to do in the winter then fire is...” That wasn’t just an excuse it was true, and with how tired I was from trying to do magic I couldn’t do a lot.
I tried again and a tiny flame ball about the size of a marble fell about five feet away from me not even close to Te’ijal who was like what eleven feet away. Rhen walked through the gateway fallowed by a still exhausted looking Rowan.
“No! You can’t hit me with that! You can barley through a fireball let alone water it probably will come apart in the middle! Throw fire! No wait! NO!” just then Water hit Te’ijal making her soaked. She smiled and I was suddenly also soaked, and grinned.
Rhen looked shocked, we were having fun with out her! She also was covered with water in less than a second She looked mad.
“Watch what your doing!” she snapped, making us looked shocked.
“What’s wrong with you Rhen! If I know you and you’re not some make believe Rhen you would be pelting us with water balls as fast as you could!” Te’ijal said sounding irritated.
Rhen seamed to soak this in then her eyes seamed to remember something, then she turned and walk to the house opened the door waited for Rowan to enter then slammed it behind her. It was almost like reliving Dameon, except this time there wasn’t an ugly guy.
“I’m Beat.” I sighed and walked into the house leaving Te’ijal looking sorry for me. We had actually gotten somewhere, but water magic was easiest for me and even that had been really hard. I sighed and slumped in a seat, Elini came in with a plate of chocolate chip cookies fresh from the oven.
“Here, this will make you feel better.” She said looking at me with sympathy.
“Yeah, Thanks, there really good.” I told her with my mouth full. I finished like ten cookies and headed to my room, where I flopped onto my bed and groaned.
I was useless I couldn’t do anything to help the party, I would be a bother just one more thing to keep safe, and by now I was pretty sure that Rhen hated me. For the others and my self I would have to go. I packed my backpack and headed down to dinner where I sat listening to Rhen talk to Rowan, this would be the last night they would see me, but they didn’t know that, and if they did I wasn’t sure they would care.
“Oh Rowan, so what do you do? Other than fight?” Rhen went on as I finished my dinner.
“I’m done guys... I’ll go rest.” I said and left the room; I slipped down the hall and silently picked up my backpack and opened the door.
“Bye guys.” I whispered and shut the door behind me with out a sound. I ran as fast as I could down a street and another, up some stairs and down to the ocean, there in the almost dark I could see a man, he had a ship just what I needed.
“Hey you! I need to get somewhere!”
“Yeah, like where.”
“I the northern isle.”
“Ok that’s 100 gold.”
“Oh and you cant tell anyone where you took me.”
“What if I do?”
“How about this if you don’t tell anyone I’ll give you 200 gold extra?”
“Deal hop aboard.”
I got on the ship and we headed out to sea.
Half an hour later
Rhen opened Lars’s room door, expecting to find an asleep Lars, she was there to apologize, she soaked in what Te’ijal had said earlier, Lars had lost his powers and she didn’t even care! Lars was the best friend she had ever had, and ever since she had started to act lady like and be around Rowan everyone seamed to despise her.
Ever since she had met Rowan she had ignored her best friend who was going through one of the most painful things imaginable. Sure Rowan was handsome, a prince, and a gentleman, but should she ignore Lars for that? No.
“Lars? You awake?” No answer, she opened the door a little more.
“Lars?” again no answer, she went and sat on the side of the bed and reached over to shake Lars’s shoulder, to her surprise nothing was there. She looked around the room he wasn’t there, not even in his closet, and some of his things were missing.
“Lars!” He must have run away! He thought he would be a nuisance! Not Lars! If only she had been kind to him! His magic! Oh why oh why! That Dameon, it was his entire fault. Suddenly Rhen remembered she felt for her locket she had forgotten it! It was the most precious gift she had ever received, and she had forgotten it!
She ran down the hall and into her room, she grabbed her pack and put the belongings she would need into it. She shoved open the door and ran out into the cold night air. She fast walked down the street looking this way and that. No Lars. ‘Where was Lars? Where would he go? The ocean!’
She ran down to the shore by now she had checked all of Sedona and the plains around it, it was now beginning to become light out and the morning birds were coming out. She was exhausted but pushed on.
“Excuse me but have you seen a green haired guy pass by this way?” She asked
“Ah yes I just had him on my ship”
“Well where did you take him?”
“He told me not to tell anyone.”
“Well if that’s not unusual I don’t know what is! Well how about this if you tell me and take me there I’ll give you 1000 gold?” Bribing is a good way to go.
“Of course! Now hop aboard!” Rhen paid the man and they started off to find Lars.
Back to Lars
I stumbled on through the blizzard, it throwing snow and ice at my face making me hurt all over. I felt like I was going to die, I would just die in the snow without ever killing Dameon. No one knew me anymore I was like a new person I hadn’t spoken to hardly anyone but Te’ijal in forever. It was all so painful.
I suddenly felt teeth sinking into my arm, and my leg there were wolves all around me ripping my skin. Would I die by wolf? They suddenly stopped and ran away, the storm got worse and they had to get back to their den. I fell sprawled out and all went black.
Back to Rhen
“Lars? Llaarrss....?” Rhen’s voice was lost in the storm; if Lars were out here he probably would never make it.
After searching for a half an hour Rhen was ready to give up, but still she pressed on. Then suddenly a flash of blue, Rhen ran as fast as she could and there a horrifying sight awaited her. There was Lars lying on the ground covered with blood.
“LARS!” Rhen shrieked
She knelt down and examined him; if he were still alive he would be close to dead she needed to find shelter. She looked all around her and there right by a tree was an opening it didn’t go back more than twenty feet but it would do.
She dragged Lars into it and started a fire with some of the sticks in the cave; she reached into her bag and pulled out ointment, bandages, and an extra cloak she had packed. She rubbed the ointment over Lars’s wounds and wrapped the bandages around them, Lars still looked dead but it was to cold to tell.
She went back into the storm with her sword and cut off several branches of a pine tree she struggled back to the cave when inside she placed the branches across the opening. This would keep out some of the cold and the snow. The fire grew and the cave was now warm enough not to be frozen.
Rhen walked over to Lars’s pack he had probably packed some clothes that could be used to sleep on, he did have some, extra shirts and pants, and a two cloaks. Rhen placed one cloak on the ground and rolled Lars onto it, she piled a shirt up and placed it under his head. She placed the other one over him like a blanket. She then placed her own coat on the ground and sat on it watching Lars and warming her self by the fire.
Two hours later there was a groan.
“Ouch...” Lars groaned.
Back to Lars POV
I felt warmth around me, was I dead? No, I could see, there was fire, and ‘ouch’ it hurt all over. Then there was a voice.
“Lars you are alive! What were you thinking?” It was Rhen, but I thought she hated me!
“I mean you thought that just because you forgot some magic I would let my best friend I have ever had just leave me! I’m so sorry Lars!” I groaned and rolled over, it hurt a lot.
“Rhen?” it was all I could manage.
“You just sleep now.” She told me, that seamed like a very good idea, so I did.
The next hour I awoke again, Rhen had food ready this time, she helped me sit up and I ate the food she gave me as fast as I could, it was warm and good.
“Why did you come?” I asked I sounded choked and gravelly.
“Lars... I’m sorry. I just have been a jerk lately, and well you guys never acted the way I’ve treated you lately. I fell really badly about it, I mean you gave me this locket and it’s the most important gift anyone has ever given me. You have saved me like hundreds of times, you kicked Ahriman’s butt. Well you just can’t give up now.”
“I hate that Rowan guy, everyone does but you. He makes by blood boil... and you know Dameon, well what I said was true he tries to kill me, whenever someone is around you he thinks it me and hurts me. If Dameon gets to me one more time I think he’ll kill me, his powers seem to be growing.”
“Oh Lars if I had only known! I should have believed you.”
“Rhen... I think I am going to die soon, I think that’s what I’ve been feeling, Death. I can’t find Dameon, and if I don’t die killing him I’ll die by Vampire or Witch. Its a dead end for me Rhen, you can go on but I think I’m stuck at the end.”
“Lars, you will live I wont let you die, I didn’t come all the way here to see you die. Now as soon as this storm is gone we are going back and you are coming with us.”
I slept the rest of the time, my dreams were pleasant, I dreamed that I was on a little island that was Mad Marge’s coconut farm Rhen and everyone was with us we were playing in the surf. Nothing seemed to be amiss, ‘cause dreams are that way sometimes. I woke up to Rhen calling my name.
She had everything packed up, and was ready to go.
“We need to get you to a doctor, you have a fever, you can lean on me on the way back, we’ll travel as quickly as possible, now lets go.” I stood up and put on my backpack I almost fell over, I felt so dizzy.
“You lost a lot of blood, we need to go now.” She put my arm on her shoulder and told me to lean, if this one anyone else I would have hesitated, but Rhen was a sword singer she was strong enough.

|Re: Ending a Black Heart (RxL)||#60|
One hour later I was in bed at our house, a doctor rushed into the room, I was still loosing blood and the pain had come back in huge amounts. I had hurled several times and was feeling like I would pass out very soon.
“How long has he been loosing blood?” the doctor asked as he rushed around getting things.
“He was laying on the ground when I found him, I don’t know how long he’d been there. Though from the time I found him to now has been at least four hours.” Rhen looked worried, Rowan was not there to my delight.
“I am surprised he is still alive, you say he has twelve open wounds?” The doctor had a look of horror on his face.
“Yes, he was soaked in blood when I found him.”
“I don’t get it, he should be dead! No one could last that long!” The doctor said as he pushed on my wounds Te’ijal and Elini were helping him they were getting water and preparing the bandages. Rhen was holding my hand and I felt sorry for her ‘cause I was holding it so tightly.
Pain seared through my body as the doctor removed some poison from my blood, it turned out that snakes had attacked the wolves before they got to me, so the snakes venom got into by blood. The venom itself should have killed me, also the cold and loss of blood.
“He may not live even if we stop the blood. Its about a 30% chance he’ll live.”
“You wont die Lars.” Rhen whispered into my ear.
Everyone had tension on his or her faces, waiting, hoping, then there was a sudden knock on the door and Mad Marge went to answer it along with Pirate John and Galahad. You could hear them all the way down the hall.
“What do you want!?” Mad Marge snapped.
“I would like to see Rhen.” It was that prince again!
“Well she is busy!” Mad Marge practically slammed the door but Pirate John stopped her.
“Come in Rowan.” He said stiffly and led him down the hall and into my room fallowed by and angry Mad Marge and Galahad.
Rhen looked up and did not smile, or run over and hug him instead she remained sitting on the bed holding my hand. Rowan went to ask Elini something and I could barley hear it.
“Is it a bad time to ask Rhen something about the trip?”
“Yes it would be the worst time to pick in the whole year, Lars’s is dieing... you may not want to disturb Rhen or she might kill you. Lars if her... Best Friend.” Elini said sourly as she cleaned out one of my wounds and I just about screamed but all that come out was a moan.
I still had a fever and felt like I had just been soaked in acid, ever part of me burned it hurt like heck. The doctor was cutting infected tissue from a wound on my arm and I clenched my teeth and breathed in. Rowan looked regretful like he wished I was either better or dead so he could speak with Rhen, I glared at him.
“Te’ijal could I ask you something real quick.” I asked Te’ijal hurried over and bent down, I whispered into her ear. “Could you get rid of Rowan I can’t stand to look at him, I don’t want the last face I see to be his, could you like ask him to leave or take him into the kitchen and get him some tea?”
“Sure!” She walked over to Rowan
“I think this is a bad time, could you come back like maybe tomorrow?” What was I thinking that she would give him tea? No, Te’ijal didn’t want him there either, so she escorted him to the door and he left.
“That’s much better.” And I closed my eyes and passed out. I felt a zap that was my locket trying to keep Dameon from getting to me then he was in and his face appeared.
“What have you been doing? I told you Rhen is mine!” He hissed. “Its not me! In fact I wanted you to speak to me so I could tell you! There is this prince his name is Rowan he has Rhen like in a trance she actually likes the guy! Everyone else hates him especially me, Rhen ignored me, then I ran away and I’m loosing blood by the minute! Its not me!”
Dameon thought for a moment, “I believe you Lars, now I will not hurt you today for telling me this. Let me remind you to stay away from Rhen!” he paused and started again “You know you can join me Lars, I would never have to hurt you again.”
“That is one thing I will never do.” And Dameon left. A sudden pain brought me back to normal reality the doctor had just given me a shot and by now most of my wounds were bandaged.
“Ouch!” I cried. Rhen gave a little laugh.
“You did it Green hair, your going to live.” She ruffled my hair. “Looks like you can tease us now.” She smiled and stood up and released my hand.
“You will have to stay in bed for a weak, then you can get up and try walking around the house, no running or going out side for two weeks.” The doctor was paid and he left.
“Three weeks!” I screeched and winced I still hurt.
To my relief no one asked me about running away the whole time I was stuck in bed instead they would come and eat and talk in my room, I could hardly eat as my arms just about made me choke in pain every time I lifted one. The next week hurt even more.
“Ok now on the count of three you will place your feet on the floor.” It had taken about thirty minutes but we finally had gotten me to move, I had a really big gash on my back where the wolves had ripped of all my skin in one area that almost was my whole back.
I also had a bandage on my foot, and when the foot hit the floor I about screamed instead though I said “Crap!” Te’ijal and Galahad sat on either side of me and they each held an arm where it wasn’t shredded.
“Now on the count of five stand up, though make sure your ready ‘cause this will hurt worse than the other steps.” Te’ijal told me.
“Elini and Rhen brought some cookies and milk, for when I screamed in pain. And then I did.
“Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!” I Screamed and would have crumpled on the floor if it weren’t for Te’ijal and Galahad weren’t holding me up.
“Now that you have absorbed most of the pain in that, try taking a step.” Te’ijal went on, the reason they were the ones helping me was A. they were the strongest and B. they were the only ones who didn’t get their eardrums blasted when I screamed. Sounds reasonable enough to me.
The day went on like this, and we actually got to the kitchen by lunchtime, then I had my cookies and a grilled cheese sandwich, with some hot chocolate. We hadn’t seen Rowan since he had come back the day after I just about died, which was a good thing. But then he of course had to ruin his record of not showing up by doing so.
Pirate John answered the door and lead into the kitchen Rowan. Rhen was sitting next to me and we were laughing at the pictures we had drawn a while ago when we had been listening to Galahad’s life story. We were looking at a picture of someone with a squirrel on her head and Elini having coco come out her nose.
“Rhen! I am so glad to see you!” we turned our faces to see him and I about gagged on the cookie I was eating.
“Rowan.” Rhen said not looking delighted to see him.
“So when does the journey begin?”
“When Lars is healed.” She told him.
Rowan seamed to frown. “I thought that he didn’t wish to join us.”
“Well you thought wrong, we don’t do any adventuring with out him, and we never have and never will leave without him.” Rowan looked shocked.
“Ah... yes.” Just then Te’ijal came running in through the kitchen door and stopped laughing and stood still staring at Rowan. She then slowly walked over to us but couldn’t stop herself and started laughing again.
“You guys have to come see this. I just caught Mad Marge’s Hair on fire! It’s out now, but she still is running around the kitchen looking singed!” She grabbed my arm and pulled me up we walked as fast as we could to the kitchen.
They’re running around patting her hair saying, “put it out put it out!” was Mad Marge. Elini was standing in a corner looking like she had just witnessed a prank done on someone else.
“Ok so maybe I did do it, but I never thought it would be this good!” Te’ijal said through giggles, it looks really funny to see a vampire laugh, so it made me laugh harder. I started to ache and leaned against the opening trying to catch my breath. My back wound started to feel inflamed so I went and sat back down. But Rowan was still there.
The next week I was watching Rhen and Galahad Sword fight, and Te’ijal and Elini battle in the front yard. I still couldn’t do anything and being outside was even hard on me. Rhen was getting better and better, Galahad was now really having a hard time fighting her, but still did it so that she could practice. Sometimes I think that Vampires have the biggest hearts. At least Te’ijal and Galahad were really nice.
It was a windy day, and you could smell the salty ocean all the way at our house. The beginnings of spring were showing and what came and ruined this picture? Rowan. He headed up the path and stood shocked as he watched Rhen, I sneered. This was the pretty princess he thought was so ladylike.
Now he was seeing her almost chop Galahad in half as he just managed to get out of the way, her practice was nothing like his, if she hit Galahad then she hit him and there was nothing done about it except calling a doctor. Though she tried not to hit him it was up to him to keep himself in one peace.
Rhen had an evil smile on her face as Galahad went down and she pointed her sword at his throat, to Rowan surprise she didn’t just back off. She stood there and breathed hard. She finally backed up and they did a high five.
“You just keep getting better and better Rhen, soon I wont be able to fight you with out loosing a limb. You did great.” Galahad told her, her fighting smile went away and it was replaced with a real one.
“Hey Lars you up to fighting me?” She called all she got back was a groan.
“Hello My Lady. I have some maps to go over with you, oh and my father’s aunt is coming and in her honor we are holding a ball. Would you like to come?” She turned to look at Rowan and her smile went into a tiny sneer.
“I probably can go, what about my friends?” She asked.
“They may also come.”
“Wait a second sweetie, you aren’t going anywhere ‘cause you don’t go where we aren’t going and we aren’t going without Lars, and he can’t go ‘cause he is hurt.” Te’ijal told Rhen.
Rhen walked over to me and sat next to me. “Lars do you care if I go?” She asked, of course I cared but didn’t say that “Knock you’re self out.” She gave me a quick hug hug “Thanks.” I groaned “Ouch! Hey and just ‘cause I say its Ok doesn’t mean Te’ijal does, go clear it up with the vampire, the one who could actually hurt you if you went with out asking. Ouch!” She grinned and let go of me. “Sorry, I forgot you were hurt.”
