@Jayshe there's a list in the first post labeled Past Reads. Those are the books we've already read.

I just started a new book by Michelle West called "The Hidden City" which is the start of a new series called "The House War". It is great! I've read her books before and absolutely love her "Sun Sword" series (there is also her "Sacred Hunt" duology which I like less well, but it's set in the same world). It's really epic fantasy stuff - politics, rival kingdoms, magic, swords, etc.

This particular book is a sort of prequel of ther Sun Sword stuff and tells how one of my favorite characters the seeress Jewel ("Jay") Markess was rescued from the streets and in turn rescued her "den" of helpers. You don't have to have read the Sun Sword series to enjoy this book, but if you read it, you might be motivated to pick up the others while you wait for the next book (unfortunatley Michelle is a slow writer).

I am a total fantasy nerd! I would love you be added to the group as well, LadyT. Grad school might make it difficult for me to keep up with the readings, but I will try my best! Thus far I've gotten through:
1)LOTR
2) Eragon series
3) most of Wheel of Time
4) Wizard of Earthsea
5) Sword of Truth

I finished the Sword of Truth series a few months ago, and since then I haven't found anything new that has really wowed me. I began reading the Sword of Shannara and Mists of Avalon, but I got sidetracked and never finished. I know everyone loves Mists of Avalon, but I guess fresh off of Sword of Truth it was a very different type of novel than I was used to...

Wow, this ended up being a long post...it happens to me often when I start talking about fantasy books

So, I just had to share that I'm currently reading an excellent book by Janny Wurts called "To Ride Hell's Chasm". Usually Janny writes book series, but this is a stand-alone novel. It's got a really great main character and a wonderfully accessible storyline. There is a missing princess, an attack by sorcery and only the captain of the town garrison has the knowledge to save the princess and free the country from demonic influence, but he is not trusted because he is a "foreigner" and he is also hampered by a contract on his life and an old knee wound. The book is very exciting and has a detailed demonic magic system as well as an interesting martial art called barqui'ino to keep the action fast and exciting.

@Tei: Scepter of Ancients? Oh the first book... In the British print it just says Skulduggery Pleasant, period.

I'd like to join-- I love fantasy books. My all time favorite fantasy author is Tamora Pierce-- I've loved her books since I first read the Circle of Magic quartet in fourth grade.

Besides for the books listed on the front page, may I also suggest (Not necessarily to to a book club read on, but to share with fellow fantasy lovers):
-The Singer of all Songs (Book One in the 'Chanters of Tremaris Trilogy) by Kate Constable
-The Looking Glass Wars (Book one in 'looking glass wars trilogy') by Frank Beddor.
-Gracelingby Kristin Cashore
-Rampant by Diana Peterfreund
-The Hunger Games and Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins (these are more 'si-fi' then 'fantasy' but they are really good.)
-Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister by Gregory Maguire.

*coughs* I could go on, but we'd be here all day.

@Ashen: you might just be my new favorite person. Lol.
Why? Because I love Tamora Pierce too, and I've read the Chanters of Tremaris trilogy. It's good. My favorite Tamora Pierce book is The Will of the Empress. Yours? (Favorite character is Briar, BTW. Love that boy. )

Re: The Hunger Games--I've heard it's good, but I haven't gotten around to reading it yet. Might look into that soon...

@Rena: Briar=awesomeness. I love him. Yesh... WotE is very good, it's one of my favorites by Pierce, though my current favorite is the Beka Cooper Books. Mmmm, Rosto. *coughs* Anyway.

To anyone who hasn't readThe Hunger Games, I highly recommend it. Honestly, it is one of the best books I have read in a long time. It even beats Harry Potter in my book.

And a couple...err, few... more suggestions, after digging around my book shelf in hopes of finding something to read. Some of these books are aimed at younger audiences, but it is my belief that a good book is a good book.
-Ella Enchanted, Fairest, The Two Princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine.
-The Swan Kingdom by Zoë Marriott
-Princess Academy, Book of a Thousand Days, and the 'Books of Bayern' by Shannon Hale.

*coughs* Uhh, I'll try and stop here.

Briar is my favorite book guy ever... So far, anyway. Philanderers are so much fun! As for Beka Cooper--well, I haven't gotten Bloodhound yet, but I did read Terrier.

What's this? Gaile Carson Levine and Shannon Hale? I loved Fairest, and the concept behind Ever was good too, although I'm not so sure about how it actually ended up. :/ I've read Hale's Princess Academy and the first two Books of Bayern and just started the fourth a few days ago (completely forgot about River Secrets, lol). I really want to read Book of a Thousand Days, but I need to track down a copy first.

Which reminds me--Cameron Dokey's The Storyteller's Daughter isn't a bad book either.

I'm looking into reading Jessica George Day's Princess of the Midnight Ball as well. I hear it's good, and I love a good retelling.

P.S. I have a friend who has read The Hunger Games who I suspect will explode if she hears that you like it more than Harry Potter. Not because she disliked the book--she just loves her HP. XD

Thanks for the suggestions Rena and Ashen! I've been dying for some new series to read. I've spent far too much time lately reading textbooks! I'm definitely going to check some of those out.

After a long time, I finally have my time to join. . .
I really love fantasy books, currently even working on one right now (wishing it would be completed, published, and later appear in your hand haha).
My favorite author is Cornelia Funke, read her books from the Thief Lord to Inkworld trilogy. I love how she arranged the word that make all of them sound very beautiful and full of art. It's really getting on my nerve to even start writting like that.

I really expected for some new nice Fantasy books to read right now(currently finished Percy Jackson the Last olympians).
If you guys have some recomendation of some titles, I would like to know all of it!

I haven't found any good books lately. I find most of them having a good concept, but executed poorly, thus making the book suck. The House of Night series has a good concept and interesting ideas, but executed so poorly that it's such a drag to read it.

Can anyone recommend a snarky book? Like serious-but-funny? Other than Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. I liked Skulduggery Pleasant because it's full of snark, sarcasm, and witty lines. I need something along that line
