Sorry I am just *now* commenting here, but I haven't had the time to go through and read stories on Amaranthia in months!

I love the idea of this story! Seeing Lars cater to a run-away slave.. oh how Rhen has changed him! AND SEVEN YEARS?! Dang! I have separated them for two years in Rush, but seven.. oh the drama And it seems like little Melinda here may have some awesome hidden powers! But what is the danger she speaks of?! =gasp!=

I will keep this story in mind and try my best to keep up with updates XD College sucks my free time away

Chapter-4 It Begins

“Lars it’s been seven years! Don’t you think I deserve a reason?”

“…”

“Well?”

“…”

“Why won’t you tell me Lars?”

“Alright. I’ll tell you. But first answer this: Did you -ever- consider the fact that I never visited because it’s painful? To see you with that…that freak. That maybe, it’s possible that I liked you more than a friend? What do you think of that?”

“…”

“I - I wanted to come Rhen. I wanted to be there for you just like I was when we started the journey. But…I never opened my mouth about it. And yeah I feel guilty; I mean how could you have known right?”

“So instead of coming right up and talking to me, you decided to hide? The Lars I knew was definitely not a coward.”

“Yeah well the bravery ceased to exist after we killed Ahriman.”

“Lars honestly, I never knew-”

“Don’t worry, Rhen. I never blamed you. But you are queen now. You have duties, a kingdom to run and all that. I’ll just get out of the way now.”

“You are leaving?!?!?”

“I don’t have a choice, Rhen. I’m sorry.”

Lars walked away as quickly as possible. He really did it. No matter what the situation was he never imagined he would do it.

Rhen watched him walk away, but this was not over. No, she can’t chase him; it would be absurd if the people at the ball saw the queen of Thais chase some other guy. But…This wasn’t it. As queen, she knew lots of things.

And one of them is Lars Tenobor is NOT a coward.

“She just needs rest, Your Highness.”

“You’re sure?”

“Positive.” The Royal Doctor smiled at the King. Although he wasn’t convinced, John decided not to argue because he was sure the guy had no idea what might have caused the incident. He didn’t know either. When Lars was going to come back, he didn’t know. What caused the incident, he didn’t know. What are they going to do about it, he didn’t know. And that was frustrating. John walked to his study. Full of thoughts, he didn’t notice was in front of him.

It was a portal.

His eyes widened. What the heck was a -portal- doing in the hallway?

“Step In, John.” A calm voice startled him. Mainly because he didn’t know someone was standing behind him. He turned around to see Melinda in a normal state as if nothing happened. Or was happening right then.

“Melinda? What is the meaning of this?”

“Just trust me. I want to show you what I saw.”

“I-I’d rather not see what you saw…”

“Don’t worry. Once you step in Lars will join us. I have to show you this. Please step in.”

Was their something in her voice that made John accept the request? Even he didn’t know. But he went along with it.

‘She took that pretty well.’ Lars thought. He could hardly believe he did it. He said his true feelings. It was incredible. Full of thoughts Lars walked away from the gates of Thais. He was going to travel using the runes, obviously. But Melinda had something else in mind.

“Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Lars fell into a portal at his next step.

“What the-”

“Lars!”

“John?”

“You made it, buddy!”

“W-What’s going on?”

“It’s Melinda…”

“Did something happen to her?!?!?”

“Well…” John narrated his part of the story. What
all he knew, that is.

“…”

“You have to be kidding me right?”

“I’m sorry, buddy…”

“Why are you sorry?”

“Well I’m trying to be supportive.”

“You are not very good at it.”

“Hey!”

“Where are we?”

“You are in my mind.” Melinda’s voice seemed to
rush in from every corner.

“Wha-”

“I have to show you something, Lars. And you too John.

“Wait! We are in your head?!?!?”

“How is that possible?”

The area -which was black before- suddenly started turning into a background. Lars looked around immediately recognizing the place.

Aveyond.

“How did we-?”

“Step inside.”

It was the sun temple she was referring to. Lars and John looked at each other before taking in a deep breath and stepping in.

Chapter-5 A Future Tale

Lars and John stepped into the temple together. Dameon and the oracle were talking.

“Dameon?” Lars asked looking surprised. What was the former-sun priest doing in the sun temple? He didn’t reply to Lars; In fact, neither Dameon nor the oracle had noticed them yet.

“Weird. It’s like they don’t even know we are here.”

“Well we are in Melinda’s head John. Neither us nor them should be here.”

“This is the future.” Melinda’s voice came out of no-where and freaked them out.

“The future?” Lars asked surprised. How the hell did Meilnda learn to see the future?!?

“Yes, The future.”

“Wait….So you are saying that you can see the future?!? How cool is that!” John was rather excited.

“Not after you see what I saw. Keep watching.”

Lars and John kept watching. At first it seemed like the oracle and Dameon were just talking. Then, ‘the talk’ turned into a fight, and then, all hell broke loose.

“Where the hell did Dameon get that much power?!?!?”

“Wasn’t he like the sun priest or something?”

“Yeah but…This doesn’t make any sense. Why would he fight the oracle? Not even in my wildest fighting dreams had I dreamed of fighting her. She is the oracle after all.”

Suddenly, there was a bright flash and the next thing they saw sacred them to death. Dameon’s eyes were…glowing red. You couldn’t even see his Iris.

“Is he under a spell or something…?”

“I don’t know.”

Then Elini stepped in, her eyes glowing as well. The sight that followed was something they swore they’d never forget. It was all the demons the party had fought years ago. But their was more- A few others entered as well. And they were: Pirate John, Mad Marge, Galahad, Te’ijal, Lars and Rhen. Lars gasped in horror. They were all under control. All of them. This was insane. This was the future? All of them being controlled by demons?

“Where is it? Where is the sword of shadows?” The one called Agas, asked.

Rhen walked towards the wall behind which they had left the sword of shadows. Lars had seen her expression. It was lifeless and empty. What had they done to her? What had they done to all of them? But it was impossible to open the lock on the wall without all the druids. There couldn’t possibly be another solution.

“Come. We must put the dime. Then there will be only two weeks left till we get that sword.” Agas spoke as he walked towards the wall along with the other demons.

“Melinda, when will this happen?” Lars asked. If they had time to warn the others, then maybe they could just prevent the whole thing from happening

“I-I don’t know…”

“Oh that’s just wonderful! You don’t know when it’s going to happen?!?!?” John screamed hysterically.

“I-I’m sorry….” It sounded like Melinda was in tears.

“Shut up John! You are going to make her cry! It’s the last thing we need right now.” Lars said. He was thinking fast. If they didn’t know when it was going to happen, then they will have to find it out themselves. Lars looked up and walked towards his future self, trying to find something that would give him a clue as to when this was going to happen. If only they could find one.

Chapter-5 A Future Tale (Continued)

Lars’ eyes widened when he looked at himself. On the side of his left eye he noticed a wound; a cut that looked like it was probably a day or two old. It still hadn’t clotted itself properly.

“John! Look!” Lars said almost screaming. John rushed to his side to look at the future Lars.

“Oh my goodness! Look at that cut!” John said as he stared at the cut. It was deep, probably hurt a lot too.

“Lars?” Melinda’s voice sounded sort of weak. John and Lars turned and started running to the other future guys to find out some clues.

“Huh? Melinda is something wrong?”

“I can’t keep you here for much longer.”

“…”

“Lars…?”

“I wanted to stay and look for more clues but…”

“C’mon man she says she won’t be able to keep up anymore. Are your forgetting that she is just seven?”

“Right. Melinda it’s alright. Let’s just go back and focus on getting the others. If something like this is going to happen we have to be ready.”
There was sudden flash and a portal opened. Lars and John stepped in calmly; they were now use to the portal because it was nothing compared to what they had seen. Lars realized they were back in Sedona Castle, in a room with Melinda on the bed.

“Melinda?” He asked softly, If Melinda was asleep, he had no intension of waking her up.

“Mmmm…”

“Hey, she’s awake!”

Melinda stretched up and yawned.

“I had the weirdest dream ever.” She said.
Lars and John looked at each other. Dream? What was she talking about?

“Wh-What was it about?” Lars shifted uncomfortably trying to look calm.

And she said everything that happened, as If it were a dream. Lars looked disbelievingly at Melinda- She really thought it was a dream!

“Uhhh…Melinda…” John began, how are you suppose to tell a seven year old that what she dreamt is real?

“We have to go discuss something- why don’t you go eat or something.” Lars said immediately cutting in signaling John to follow him. They reached the throne room.

“You don’t want to tell her?” John asked,

“No, I don’t want to. She is seven- not our age it is something that you cannot tell to a kid.”

“What now?”

“I have no clue. We’ll think it over tomorrow, might as well think of someway to tell this to the others.”

“Lars…” John whispered this time as Lars turned around ready to leave.

“What?”

“What if it’s already begun?”

“That’s ridiculous. It can’t be….” Lars swallowed hard. There was a lump in his throat and the words just died, it was possible that Elini was already being controlled.

“Stop being such a pessimist, John. We can do this. Now get some sleep.”

“Right. Bye then.”

“Bye.”

A few hours later…

Lars tossed and rolled in his bed. He couldn’t sleep.

“What if it’s already begun?”

The thought kept echoing through is mind. Stupid John. This thought was annoying him so much now.

But,

“What if it's begun already?”
