What do you think? I think its funny considering how the internet is a double edge sword.

Just look at youtube comments (plenty of flaming) and all the nasty things that appear on the web or happens due to exploitations.

Course it got its good points of connecting people from huge distances and allowing communication between them.

But still: Peace prize?

I'm a bit on the fence with this. Like you said it definitely has it's pros and cons. It can facilitate debates and connect people, but is that really worth a Nobel peace prize?

Internet and peace just don't mes...at all.Sure there are plenty of sites and applications that are user friendly and we get to know a lot more people through the net,but peace? N-way.I don't see how the internet is related to peace in any way,but it might run well for "most addicting reward"

I mean it has articles about peace and stuff but that doesn't mean it should get a peace prize!

I think this is nonsense and there are plenty people out there who really deserve the prize.

It's like choosing Academy Award winners. It's really just the opinion of a select group of people. Someone wins an award because this group says so.

Cuz that describes practically everyone including you. No one knows everything about history. That's impossible given the huge density of the material.

Speaking of Nobel peace prize history, it was created & named after the guy who invented dynamite, for inventing dynamite.
