Ahhrr... Back & time for a new (well, it's more like reviving an old) topic!

Before 'the' Crash, AngelTeddy and I started around the same time our own topics with ideas for this community. I can's remember all of it, I do remember that Phoenix asked 'like Gaia'?

Anyway, the original idea was to make the Village Square more like a real square. In SH there are several stores and it would be cool if they could be in a picture/drawing, so you could really click on that and go to the store...

After I posted there, there were loads of replies of other users with ideas. I'm not really asking for what is possible and what not, 'cause that's not really the intention of this topic. I'd just like to hear from everyone what you would think are good ideas to make this community even better.

It's NOT a petition that Amanda SHOULD do this, but she might get ideas...

Well, I was talking about Gaia earlier, very recent I found Roliana and I think that some things that they have could be cool too!

Things I like from both websites:
- Avatar dressing... Everyone has they're own avatar which they can dress in a way they like. This also gives the gold a use, but that also means that you'd need a marketplace or an option to trade between people...

- They allow image maps! Yays, that would make the idea of having a real square a lot easier... The map works with coordinates, so when you click on a certain point, it redirects you to the right place. Get it? ^_^
I think Flash would have simular options, but this one is also useful when there are signature limits and you still want to put in several links...

- Gold per post. Kleptin would love this. Only Roliana has this system. It simply counts the amount of words and gives you some gold for it. Only useful if you can do something with the gold.

There are many more things, which are also funny, but I like these things best. Besides that, I also believe that all these things are built around a community and if the community lacks wonderful people, I don't think it will ever be a success...

Luckily this one has loads of that kind of people

Long post, but well... I'm back. Only a bit more busy than I used to be...

Amaranthia only consist of forum and something else (Forum basically). There's no way to make the site similar to Gaia, plus avatar dressing is not necessary for a forum discussion or etc.

I know dressing avi's is not directly interesting for communicating, but it's fun, it gives more things to talk about and for the RP's it would be awesome if you'd be able to dress your avi like your Rp-character.

The 'making village square more of a square', was an old idea...

Dressing avi's would give the gold we earn some use.

Gold per word was an old idea from Kleptin and now I've found the first forum where they actually have it.

It's just random ideas and I'm wondering if more people have ideas, because there were loads of them in the old thread... And since then, there are more people, more new people, so I'm just figuring out if there are wild ideas..

Told you in the first post that I'm not really looking for all of the ideas to be implemented here, just wondering what people want.

There are already the cool people & the always interesting discussions, though I noticed that (I've been lurking... ^^) there are less discussions... >.<

Gold per word? Is very hard to do that. Sounds easy for a non-programmer person but calculating things based on words are hard to implement.

Beside all this gold issue makes new members to become hunger for it and demand a donation (Like what I investigated in Gaia). Avatar dressing is fine but without proper rules, bad things might happen.

I think this is a great idea, with a village square, one easy thing you can do is to do a drawing Or ask Amanda to draw a village square, place a lot of buildings, make the buildings like links, that goes to the different Treads you want to have on the square, and post it all in a treed here, well when you want to find any thing you just open the "Sticked treed Village square, and voila, then people can have that felling that they actually visit a reel shop or restaurant, or game, when they have to click the link to get there...

It all sounds very exciting and would be great to see for Amaranthia, but I doubt any of that will happen right now. Gaia Online has a paid, full-blown staff that works 24/7 trying to maintain all that. Amaranthia would need to grow considerably in members and staff in order to launch something like that off the ground.

I think right now, Amaranthia is cozy the way it is. It's way smaller than Gaia, yet it's tight-knit like a real family since everyone knows everyone. That's not to say that Amaranthia will end up getting as huge as Gaia in the not so distant future, though.

Eh, I sincerely hate Gaia... the insane amount of members that are there, how chaotically and quickly threads are made, posted in, and after a few days the thread gets buried and new ones on the SAME topic get created again a few days after the original one got buried... also I barely saw there much intelligent discussion or posters >_< but I think I can say the level of intelligence and maturity is higher here so hopefully here it won't sink to the level of Gaia in this aspect ~_~
And the avatar dressing doesn't attract me at all... I like the freedom we have now, to choose absolutely any kind of image we like. Those figures people are forced to have on Gaia take away something from the choice and individuality, even when there's the possibility to dress them up how they like.

Untill now there are only replies on the things I like, but I'd also like to know if people go to other communities as well and if so, what do you like about those?

I like this forum, but I wonder if it is possible to creat a reputation feature?...alot of forums have it, and it is a good thing to have so that people that make good posts can be recognized for their work...do u think its possible?

I wouldn't want gold for words. People might start saying a lot of words just to get gold. I like the idea of actual shops to click on just for the feel of reality. It would be fun to have it set up like a game where you actually walk to a shop and click to get to the forums.
I would love to see a thread dedicated to links to our favorite sites: Like Bigfish, Meez, Youtube, BunnyHero Pets, etc. Where anyone could post a link to interesting sites, that have some use here(not just trival sites). But I would like to see it in the VS as a sticky or pinned thread not in SP where it will get burried.
I would also like to see a Pinned topic for tutorials for computer idiots (like me), How to use Youtube, Photobucket, Paintshop, Photoshop, Siggies, etc..
@ Lord Maeglin, I heard that is what the Karma points were for, but they were disabled. But I too would like to see a reputation feature enabled.
It might encourage some to do much better here.

It's the people here that make me come back. Not the luxuries of the site.

I don't like the idea of a reputation feature. There's no way to guarantee that people would use it responsibly instead of to reward their friends and punish their enemies. I hate to say that, but it's human nature.

I really like the idea of a sticky tutorials topic. I barely remember how to do BB code, let alone HTML.

AM is fine the way it is. However we need to use the gold we get in some way...As well as the HPs and MPs!

@KRISHNA: yes i mean, first we got the treed called village square, in that treed/post we got a picture aver Thais or Thornkeep or other beautiful town Amanda has created, lets say we got different shops: for siggies, dresses, portions, and so on, we also got some bistro, and dines so lets put a link to all those treads in the picture, so when you point with the mouse on a tavern you come to the tavern, or on the siggi shop you come to a treed with siggies and so on, you can also implant fun houses, with some games from spam haven, ban the person above you and else... and you can also have village info in a court house, and a couple of guild house where the guilds post about their contest, like if you go to the spooky house, there is the link to W&W's hat contest and so on... that what I mean, just make the whole thing simple and have fun

Well... So much to do... and so little time!

We're working on a couple new ideas for things to purchase with the gold... but like many of you indicated, we don't want to ruin the site by adding anything wildly disruptive.

I think this is a great thread... and one you can rest assured is read!

I miss the rate this thread feature -- at least for the Tavern. I can't tell you how excited I was when my story finally got the thumb's up rating on the old site.

If AM can be made into something like Neopets (Earning gold by entertainments like mini games and contests), it's fine as well. Especially for those who love random games alot
