@agas: Your collegium gold is hard-earned. It would be nice if theone's idea of only the artists getting gold on collegium posts could be implemented, but that might be a bit tricky (not that I know anything of programming). That way people who are contributing to the community (such as yourself) would have something to show for it, but those who spam, wouldn't.

Not all collegium comments are spam, nor do I agree that it is always spam to simply compliment the photo. The problem is when you just copy-paste the compliment to various photos... but dost hat actually happen? I've been browsing the collegium lately (well, specifically D_A's stuff and a few other people's photos) and I didn't notice such a big problem with spam comments... (Maybe I'm not being particularly attentive.)

Whereas in cottages I can definitely see that being the case.

The problem is not only in the copy-paste comments but also in those comments "wow cool" "great" "awesome" posted by the same person all over and over again. The problem is in people that are abusing the gold system. That's why I'm sticking to the "remove gold from everywhere except the forums not including SH, cause SH should remain goldless. Lets be honest, there are million ways to abuse the gold system. It's not only the spam, it's not only the copy-paste comments. A person can easily go through collegium entries or cottages etc. and post different comments if he/she has the time and will to do that.

I agree that HBT is a spamming area and gets easily abused as a gold mine, but it's going to be a lot easier for mods to check out that area if the gold is removed from cottages, collegium, games, blog etc.

800 gold? 500 gold? We don't want to chase people away you know If we need 500 or 800 gold for cottage than the guild ticket should be at least 2000
As I said before, 100 is a good price if the gold is not removed and 50 is awesome if the gold is removed.

I don't mind comments in my cottage, but I do mind "welcome to the neighborhood" from a person registered 2,5 years after me. It's hilarious. I like it when people are stopping by and say they like my cottage or leave me presents, stickers etc. But I would like to see who is doing that without shady intention and gold in her/his mind.

I agree with Moony about the HBT problem and yeah Removing gold coins for cottages would be great! It's the best thing to do in my opinion. I mean yeah you probably are like "of course you are guilded so it wouldn't matter to you" but I've been on this site for almost two years and I'm where I am now. It takes time, Lots of time. and I also think the "Hi hope we can be friends" comments are also a little spammy. I mean you wanna be friends with so many people, It's a little absurd. How are you going to be friends with so many people?

I actually do not see why any one should have any problem if the removial gold count from cottages takes place. I mean, You write the message to welcome someone on AM and not to earn gold.

@Mae: I know. I just wish I could remove posts from the Collegium comments because even if some of them aren't necessarily spam, I still don't like looking at them. Especially some comments that only consist of a very big "Squee" or something along those lines, and a whole lot of smileys. They might be genuinely giddy and extremely happy about the art's existence, but it's... still rather annoying to look at. If not remove, then maybe a "hide post" option like Deviantart. I also know nothing about programming so... yeah

A lot of times people end up having conversations in the comments or HBT threads and I'm really not sure if that's spam or not. I'm guilty of that to - having conversations in the Collegium submission comments or story threads that is completely unrelated to the story or picture being posted. I usually move the conversation over to PMs if it drags on forever, but does it actually count as spam? It will up people's post count if it's in the Collegium comments or HBT.

I mean, its just sooo fun around here even if there was no gold system, i'd stay, i never really got around understanding, WHY there's a gold system, i know that if there was no gold at all, lots would leave this site, but then maybe the ones who stay active ARE the ones who are ginuine and truthful, I left at least 3 sites because of spammers, maybe people should be guilded for, umm, like, the contents of their posts, and the popularity of their collegium entries (I mean that's why there are vote buttons, umm, right?????), and i'm really annoyed how just one rotten apple can make hundreds of fresh ones go bad! SAY NO TO SPAMMERS! i totally support the admins and wish them real luck (the clean-up is one tough chore) and maybe if there are report comment buttons as the others said ( too lazy to go and check who) it would make it easier for the admins....

^That was my rant long, long ago about those spammy things found in the forum, such as those 'nice update soon' comments. I just can't believe as to why many are ignoring the fact that what they are doing is wrong.

@MoonReader: Why for the popularity of the collegium entries? The GS (Gold System) has been implemented ever since, I think. Changing the system to something else would be like suicidal. However, it does not hurt to do some modifications...

Hmm you know after reading the first post in your thread Stardale (too lazy to read it all) I get your point. Also I've noticed that the siggie/avvie thread is full with gold abusers. I think that there are at least 3 persons that already got at least 150/200 gold from that thread -_-'

But I don't think we can stop that. Only mods and admins can help and take care of the posts that doesn't make much sense etc. The areas that are hard to control are cottages/games section/blog/ collegium. I know that the blog doesn't have many gold hunters but believe me it will gain it's popularity as a gold mine if collegium/cottage mines are closed down

Well, the blog is only for guilded members, so hopefully there aren't many rabid gold miners at that point.

Well, technically conversations can occur ANYWHERE. I mean, cottages, collegium, village square. But I think village square is more appropriate for appropriate conversations (if that makes sense)not for "soso is an idiot" or "I like cake" get what I am trying to say? And also, I hate the off topic comments, though, we really can't get rid of those because there are so many of them scattered around. We can, however, help stop it from getting worse by reporting it when we see it and then telling people not to do it. If they don't listen, well, they will just have to get banned/suspended. But, if people want to have a conversation that's, again, what the PM button is for, and also what the go chat button is for.
