On a happy note, I'm participating in the Druids Avvie and Siggie Contest and am for the first time gona use flash when making an avvie and siggie. I'll post it here after the contest is over.

yup, and if flash frustrates you, stay away from after effects! believe me, i learned the hard way! i practically died while trying to animate with it, and i epically failed! i only know how to re-render my vids using it and that alone takes me forever....
however, right now i only use it to create video effects like rain, bubbles, volcanoes, lightning, rivers and so on, i mainly animate with photoshop since my flash dramatically broke down, i'll try to post one of my animations here, and its frame-by-frame, just to know how much i suffered making it...

Nyeh, a LOT of the great animations I've seen are made with After Effects. They say that it can do layered animation like flash, which is the ideal type of animation, but has the cool effects that photoshop can do which flash does not have, like gradients and all that. I've been told that the legit anime that we see on TV are made with After effects. Single-layer animations are pain in the rear end, and Photoshop animation counts as single-layer animation. It's PAINFUL, mind you, PAINFUL when you try to do an all-out proper animation with backgrounds and secondary animations. Those old-school animators really had it hard on them. No wonder old anime from the 80s and 90s usually have a lot of "stills" where it's more like a comic panel on screen rather than animation. Because it's HARD TO MAKE. They use cells and paints, which makes it all the more harder, and they have short deadlines.



WIP for an AMV I'm making for Magnet. Will be animating the whole thing myself so it's gonna be a major pain in the neck. AV-related of course and I want it to be all pretty and sparkly and romantic so... SCREW YOUR VECTOR-BASED GRAPHIC SYSTEM, FLASH!!!!!!!!!!!! I WANT PRETTY SOFT GLOWS AND GRADIENT SHADING AND YOU CAN'T GIVE ME THAT!!! I WILL HAVE TO IMPORT EVERYTHING FROM PHOTOSHOP-PAINTED JPEG IMAGES!!! I HATE YOU!!!!

I'm so sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My aunt died so I've been a bit down lately so I haven't come on AM for awhile. I'm glad the club isn't dead.

So you guys, at the moment, which animation software are you mostly using?

Me? Photoshop and Flash!

Photoshop, Flash, Windows Movie Maker, and Ulead Video Studio. Pixels are Photoshop-only animations, andf the extra long ones like the Ahriman parody thing is compiled with Windows Movie Maker. I'm currently trying to make an actual anime-like vid and since I can't use After Effects, I had to use both Flash and Photoshop to make a weird mish-mash of animations. Each clip ended up being only about 5 seconds long and I already took up about 3 PSD files for a 10 seconds' worth of animation >___<

I'm hankering for a complete n00b's guide for Adobe After Effects so I can make Agas do a Sailor Moon transformation, but I can't find such a book anywhere >____<

Adobe After Effects? I think that's one of he last softwares I'll be learning. I remember someone telling me that its tough.

But at the same time very useful.

Right now, for animations I use flash. Though to do a good animation, it takes a long time.

Pffft... Flash is vector-based, meaning that it's best used for cell shading. Being that I like soft gradients and smooth shading, Flash don't work too well for me.

I want to see the finished MV! It looks amazing so far.
