@KTC I don't know if it is *the word* I am thinking about... all I know is that one long word in the back of student dictionaries had numerous numbers and dashes. >.>
I could see chemical formulas having numbers but formulas aren't necessarily considered words. They're formulas. No word I know of has numbers in it. Take C6H4Cl2 for example. It is not a word. However, it roughly means " 6 molecules of Carbon, 4 molecules of hydrogen and 2 molecules of Chlorine"

That isn't the name for that compound. It's the formula for it.

Yup. C6H4Cl2 – is the chemical formula/equation, so it contains numbers. It’s chemical name/compound/IUPAC most probably is dichlorobenzenes and does not contain numbers.
Spot the difference? Therefore, Chemical formulas contain no.s etc., but it’s IUPAC names/words don’t. Tintin is just the common name. The LONG word is its chemical/IUPAC name, with no numbers. And don’t ask me about the chemical formula/equation (which will contain numbers). Have no idea.

No some IUPAC/chemical names do contain numbers. But those just tell you the place of whatever they precede.

You'll see a load of them if you ever have to take Organic Chemistry.

Are those the IUPAC names?
Oh and that "chloro-1-ethyl-2-propylbenzene" is some kind of a drug, I think. But why use numbers in the IUPAC names, when they have it already in the chemical formula/equation?

Yes, those are the IUPAC names. Like I said in my previous post, they tell the placement of what they precede.
So for 4-chloro-1-ethyl-2-propylbenzene Chlorine would be on position four of the ring. An ethyl group would be on position one of the ring. and a propyl group would be on position two of the ring. The chemical formula just tells you how many atoms a molecule has; it doesn't tell you the placement of the atoms. Two compounds could have the same chemical formula but be bonded differently.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Even though the sound of it is something quite atrosicous! If you say it loud enough, you'll always sound precocious.... hehe... I learned how to spell the word in 2nd grade. lolz. I love that word. ![]()
