I just finished the Darkthrop Prophecy and I'm really hoping there will be more Aveyond Games!!! Perhaps you can make one with the main charicter as a witch or demon or vampire!? Athough I loved the orbs of darkness series I must say that my favorite is still the original Aveyond with Rhen and Lars
Merged topics. ~Mopiece

I have to say I was SO SO SO GLAD this was as long as it was. I didn't want it to end, and every time I thought "DRAT, we're almost done," we weren't.
The ending was perfection. Absolute perfection. As a mom, I would like to pass along a piece of knowledge to Mel: payback is a BEAR. Especially when you get two for the price of one. That said, we WILL see the lovely Darkthrop Twins in the NEAR future, correct? Pretty please???

I really hate to say this, but AV3 should not have gone past the original Lord of Twilight (3-1 + 3-2). The Lost Orb was a very good game, but it would have worked better had it been its own entity and The Darkthrop Prophecy... was kind of a mess. I enjoyed playing it, and there were a lot of things right about it, but the characters lost their magic and the two most interesting characters (Nox and Uma) were tragically underused. That's why I'm holding out for a game focusing on the twins. <3 Overall, the story was just too disjointed and I found myself asking why TDP and TLO were even made. Still very high quality, but the story didn't live up, and the game just wasn't all that much fun. I'll be glad for a fresh start with AV4.

I have to agree with that. The reason I've been playing this games ever since I've accidentally stumbled across Av-1 has always been the story. While I certainly appreciate the beautiful design, I think this kind of RPG is mainly about telling the story. And looking back at the whole of Av 3, I've come to the same conclusion as you, iPink, I enjoyed Av 3-1 and 2 most, because the story was coherent.
But I guess this problem should have been kind of obvious when the decision to release Av-3 in chapters was made. I suppose it's not at all easy to keep to the same plot throughout four chapters. So maybe the next Av shouldn't be made in chapters. At least unless the story for all of them is decided beforehand. @blurble: So, now you're back among us, any chance of some new good reading material in the Hungry boar tavern? I totally miss your stories.

It's unlikely that the chapter system will go away. It's just not profitable to make a $20 game when portals are going to sell it at $7.

I don't mind the chapter system. All I want is the story to be consistent through all chapters. I just meant that it's probably more difficult to stick to the same plot through four chapters than through one game. I imagine it's like writing a trilogy instead of one book. You might have the outline made at the beginning, but sometimes the characters take you somewhere unplanned.
That said, as long as Amanda can stick to a logical plot all the way, chapters is fine with me.

OMG, I just finished the game and absolutely loved the ending - especially the surprise at the very end. I certainly hope there will be more Aveyond or Aveyond type games as this was the series that got me started on old school rpgs and of all of them from the many different makers is my favorite. I like the story line and the way the game is played.

I think the story was pretty consistent through all chapters. There wasn't any major holes. Somethings were left up to the user to decide what happened.

@Blurble: Yeah. The only reason Gyendal got shoved off to the sides is because "well, you can't keep on fighting him all them time. It gets tiresome." Inserting a new villain that doesn't really fit with the previous three chapters just feels so WRONG :
The twist in TDP is not a twist. It's a random person getting shoved into the game for no reason at all!!!! Gyendal joining the party would have made a better twist. I swear, I regret making Amanda tell me that. Now I'm going to puzzle over how the heck that could have happened till the end of my days ![]() TLO and TDP seems very disconnected to each other and the first two chapters. Really, making TLO "AV4" wouldn't really make a difference, especially since having save files from previous games means absolutely NOTHING in these last two chapters.

In TLO it meant something. That's when we got to collect the animals that had run away and get to use our old animals, and we saw a somewhat different storyline at the beginning of the game depending on which bride you had picked in the previous one. (By the way, do we know which bride for TLO is canonical?) And in both we kept our luck, which is actually rather useful at very high levels. But yeah, they overall weren't very connected.
I think that these two would have worked as AV4 as a story with new characters, but I guess Amanda wanted to finish the Darkthrop Prophecy (although since at the end of GoN we had apparently destroyed every orb so the prophecy was supposedly null, it wasn't really necessary). My favorite part of the game is the Demon Realm segment. Uma and Nox are so awesome that you can't not want to play with them, and this part seemed to have so much more polish than a lot of the rest of the game. It was pretty much seamless. Had the entire game played like the Demon Realm segment, I think this game would be one of my very favorites. As it is it's not all that remarkable and definitely not my favorite Aveyond game by any means. TLO was the best game, honestly, and I guess TDP really had a lot to live up to. ![]()

Mel was probably the canon choice in TLO since if you start a new game, she is the one Lydia imitates.
At the end of GoN, we hadn't destroyed all the orbs.

What I meant was that at the end of GoN, we didn't know there were more orbs, so as far as we as players knew, there didn't have to be another game. Although TLO was a great game. <3

TDP was great
loved Yemite (and Nox and Uma) and I really liked how it all played out. I can't wait for another Aveyond game (with mentions of the current characters) or at least I'll find myself some good fanfics to fill my 'after the ending' needs. The only thing that I was sad about being skipped from the first game is the city of Veldt, I miss Elini! Oh but I did love Lars 8 =D

Wah! <3 I just finished the game!(a few hours ago actually but didn't have time to write about my reactions, so now i'm back ^^
![]() One word: OUTSTANDING! I loved it almost as much as the original Aveyond(Rhen's Quest)! What I liked: -The level of difficulty: It was pretty challenging, but not too tough + I didn't have to spend hours leveling before the final battle ^^ -Storyline: It was easy to follow and very exciting. Favorite Parts: -Stella getting her wings back <3 -The scene before the final battle where Darkthrop explains his evil scheme -How Yemite reveals Hercules' true form <3 Cute! Darklings have to fight over who gets to be Mel's personal servant ^^ -Edward choosing a bride. Here I'll have to say sorry to all the Edward x Stella fans, but I personally prefer Edward and Mel <3 Because...well...They're a perfect match! -Tei'jal becoming a vampire again without Galahad's consent by biting him o_o I wanna see her in future Aveyond games! She's just so much fun to watch ^^ -Revisiting the places from Aveyond I even though they were remade + the music <3 Also, I thought it was neat marry off Mel to a guy whose ancestor was Lars *fan-girl squeal* nyah! As for Nox and Uma...It took me a bit more than an hour to come to the conclusion that they are a part of Mel; Uma representing her good qualities and Nox representing her bad ^.~ Btw, both of them were beautifully drawn as well as Yemite. If anyone has any other suggestions as to what the two of them were I'm interested ^^ Now can't wait until the next Aveyond release! <3 Afterall, the Aveyond series is still my favorite RPG game ^^ ~fan forever + 5 years

Wait. You think TDP is shorter than expected? TDP was the longest of all the chapters.

I guess the whole plot problem is due to the fact that AV3 wasn't supposed to have TLO and TDP in it in the beginning. :/ Thus, LoT and GoN did make a great game. In fact, I also highly enjoyed TLO because of the reasons stated above. TDP was okay as its own game, but for some reason it feels disjointed when put into the series.
Me wants more twins! O:
