Well, for those who don't know or haven't figured it out yet, it's phoenixgirl here. However, for some reason, the system wouldn't let me register under my old user name so I had to take up a new one. Just as well since some do call me phoenix anyway.

But anyway, will this problem of registering user names be fixed?

I think it may be because it is a long name. MistressofMagic was having the same problem so she registered as elma.

Oh yes, I realized that it might be a character limit problem. I know that there was one on the old site (the one before the crashed one-the black and purple forum). But I was still able to register under phoenixgirl there. I think there's a 10 character limit here and my old user name just exceeded it by one character. lol

Just wondering if this will end up getting adjusted. I would like that.

ah - that explains things. I was wondering why I was seeing Omega-MG (sounds like a vitamin! XD), elma and phoenix.

I just read whispering's post on the temp forum requesting to have longer character lengths for user names. I can understand the request, since her user name is pretty long and all. Guess this is the same request that I made. lol

I think the problem is fixed. I just saw MagickWielder and Aislingyngaio - both certainly more than 10 characters.

Anyone who wants to go back to a previous user name would probably have to create a new account, as I don't think user name is something you can change. (Then there's the question of whether you can have >1 person registered at the same email address, so may need to change that too)

Hmm, I see. I do remember that before the crash, the user names could be changed so maybe either Amanda or Bryce could do that? I'll wait to see what either of them say about this.

At any rate, I suppose I could keep phoenix as it is. Still thinking about it.

I'm not sure - I haven't tried it. Someone else just did, and said they couldn't do it. Maybe it is an admin ability.

I see that some members are able to register now under longer user names so this problem looks like it's been fixed. If it's not too much to ask, can those of us who already registered please change our user names back to what we'd like (assuming we can have this option)? I really don't want to have to register all over again.
