*rolls eyes* You are a very good critic, D_A, but you never had games which had references to previous games the same way?

I'm not a good critic. I'm someone who constantly spouts nonsense and frequently have problems expressing my thought.
Look, I wasn't complaining about how TDP is a knockoff off previous Aveyonds. I consider that an "Easter Egg" and I LOL at it. What I'm having problems with is that the opening scene makes NO SENSE when you think of what happened in the previous games. For one, why is Gyendal calling Mel a "light-dweller" who would destroy them all? He has been trying to KIDNAP Mel and USE her for the previous three chapters. Now he's saying that she's disaster and should not be involved? That just continuation error right there.

You forget the Mordred factor, and since she's light dweller, it's completely logical to be able to *do* something to stop the *darkness* from succeeding, hence the previous game when she breaks to pieces Gyendal's barrier. Doesn't it make sense? And how do we know that Gyendal wasn't working for a master ever since the first game? How do we know how he found out of the orb? How did he find Mel? Coincidence, I think not.

@Kenneth: This is where not talking face to face poses a problem. I think you may be misunderstanding me or getting the wrong idea of what I'm saying. I can't check whether we're on the same page or not without looking like I'm spamming the thread
![]() Quote: You forget the Mordred factor... Mordred has nothing to do with Mel being a "light-dweller" or Gyendal calling her that =____= Quote: ...she's light dweller, it's completely logical to be able to *do* something to stop the *darkness* from succeeding, hence the previous game when she breaks to pieces Gyendal's barrier. Doesn't it make sense? Gyendal suddenly calling her "light-dweller" makes no sense because as far as we're concerned, he's thinking of Mel as "the Darkthrop heir". He suddenly thinks of her as a "light-dweller who will destroy them" why? Look, remember that Gyendal vowed revenge on Mel in TLO. Why would he suddenly say they should not use her to fulfill the prophecy because she would destroy them? It makes no sense. His excuse would not be "she would destroy them", but "she wouldn't want to do it and he knew because he saw and heard her say so himself", which would probably be a more convincing argument. Gyendal wanted to rule the world BY HIMSELF. It's been established as such since the first chapter. That is why he tried to grab the staff after Mordred got offed. He only spared Mel all these times so he could use the orbs, otherwise he would've offed her too so there are no chance of her usurping his position or bringing him down. Heck, he even said that he planned to keep Mel as a slave. He suddenly doesn't want to be involved with her... why? Quote: And how do we know that Gyendal wasn't working for a master ever since the first game? If he had been working with Mordred all along, he wouldn't have needed to bother with Mel, as the orbs could be used by anyone with Darkthrop blood. Mordred could just use the orbs himself, since that's what he tried to do 200 years ago when he made those orbs to begin with. Quote: How did he find Mel? Yemite found Edward. I should think the darklings have their way of locating people, especially since Mel is the "chosen one". She would be even easier to find.

@D_A: on the subject of finding people, there are at least 2 ways I know of in traditional lore. The first is to use a divining set of some kind that identifies their location on a map, the second is to use a seer's instrument (like a crystal ball or something). That aside, they could have just used a contact in a thieves network to find them. Locating them is not out of the question. We all know how Gyendal usually has a thing for kidnapping Mel.
Him suddenly not wanting her around was kinda weird...Quote:

Yeah, whatever method they used, the Darklings seem to be very good at finding people. In TLO's intro, we see Rayina being chased by darklings after she fled Darkthrop Keep (to those who don't already know, Rayina is Mordred's daughter-in-law). In TDP's beginning, the darklings found Mel in Blue Leaf Forest. It's no surprise that they could track her down again in Veldarah and Gyendal just followed them. Quote: We all know how Gyendal usually has a thing for kidnapping Mel. Heh, this is either proof that Gy/M DOES make sense or I just succeeded in poisoning someone else's mind with my crack-shipping again Serious talk now. So far he wants to kidnap Mel ONLY to use her to activate the magic orbs. ![]()

Let me put it this way, Gyendal captured Mel, which was a light dweller, and wanted to send it to Demon Realm, which would inverse that. First thing. Secondly, let's do not forget that Mordred said that Gyendal was a fool which just wanted the power for himself? How could he know, because as I recall, Mordred appeared just in that damned cathedral. Gyendal calling her a light dweller is actually what Mordred knew, and the reason for sending her to Demon Realm. And let me mention the fact that the Prophecy wasn't actually related to the Orbs, as a quote of a previous member in some other post. Any more clarification needed?

Heck, he even said that he planned to keep Mel as a slave. He suddenly doesn't want to be involved with her... why?" ^ well, maybe after Mel had discovered that she could do magic ways better than him, so then he became concerned over his end story of that overwhelming power from her(being a spy in the past really no match to Gyendal, but being a mage would be a troublesome). There is a line in the game that said, "Don't underestimate her[Mel]! Her magic is way stronger than you!" from [i forgot who] towards Mordred. Who was it? Edward or Gyendal? @kenneth: Gyendal didn't send Mel to inverse her personality or anything. He was simple doing his mission from Mordred. So basically he knows nothing will happen to Mel with the demon realm. Mordred knows. As for how the heck Mordred knew what's Gy's desired: well, if Gyen had worked with him from the start, then he'd pretty much know what's Gy's wants. Not only him that would have such of dream, but everyone will too. Not to mention that Mel might had that feeling too, being powerful and stuff. So it's normal to desire something that in front of our eyes.

both of them. The official for Mel is Lars, so it leaves Edward with Stella.

@shadowshed:
Quote: well, maybe after Mel had discovered that she could do magic ways better than him, so then he became concerned over his end story of that overwhelming power from her(being a spy in the past really no match to Gyendal, but being a mage would be a troublesome). Mel has been friggin hiding in Harakauna doing nothing. Like I said, he VOWED REVENGE on Mel. Judging from Gyendal's attitude we have seen thus far? He would probably spend quite some time plotting for the revenge. Unless being involved with Mordred leads him to NOT want revenge on Mel anymore. He's worried about her beating him... WHY? Quote: There is a line in the game that said, "Don't underestimate her[Mel]! Her magic is way stronger than you!" from [i forgot who] towards Mordred. Who was it? Edward or Gyendal? That would be Edward telling Mordred that "Mel is more of a wizard that he (Mordred) could ever be". It does not explain anything because it doesn't necessarily mean Mel is stronger. It could also mean that Mel is a nobler/good wizard (quality over quantity). ----------------------------------------------- @Kenneth: Quote: Mordred said that Gyendal was a fool which just wanted the power for himself? No, he does NOT say so. In the intro, all Mordred said is that "Gyendal is not the destined one" and that he must go find Mel. Quote: How could he know, because as I recall, Mordred appeared just in that damned cathedral. Gyendal summoned Mordred quite some time BEFORE that intro that we see. That much we know. How long before is of no consequence. Mordred should know who Mel is because she is HIS OWN DESCENDANT. Mordred did tell Gyendal that Mel is a Darkthrop and is important to fulfilling the prophecy, so we know that he knows who Mel is. Quote: And let me mention the fact that the Prophecy wasn't actually related to the Orbs, as a quote of a previous member in some other post. Any more clarification needed? AUGH!!! I KNOW THAT!!! The Prophecy is about someone from the Darkthrop family will rule the world. Mordred wanted to be the one to rule the world so he made the orbs. However, he failed and later finds out that he isn't the prophecied one anyway. That's why he sends Mel to Demon Realm: both to get the staff AND to turn her evil (the dark disciples said that sending Mel there will "rebirth" her). ------------------------------------------------ It's safe to assume that Gyendal only summoned Mordred recently because otherwise he wouldn't have needed to kidnap Mel FOR THE ORBS. Mordred is a Darkthrop, and is the creator of the orbs. He COULD use the orbs because that's why he made them in the first place: for him to USE IT HIMSELF. In trying to be mysterious and not reveal any spoilers as to who the master is, the intro wrecks continuity and makes no sense when compared to what has transpired in the previous three games. The intro is trying to be vague and that the master may well be not Mordred, but the wording fails.

Maybe Gyendal was afraid that Mordred would kill Mel. That would make him the last darkthrop...

I have another problem with Mordred:
How the hell could he just waltz in and out of Demon Realm so easily? Uma and Nox could do it because they're only "spirit manifestations" of some sorts, so they're "not really there", but Mordred IS THERE. He walks in and out of Demon Realm like a door so easily HOW? Does that mean that if Mel had known the way to do it she would've been able to do that too? :

Maybe the Demon Portal was semi-broken, so would put just half of Mordred in real world? Lol! *imagines Mordred split in two* XD
Not to mention that black robe which turns to brow, he really needs to wash it! XD
