Okay, a recent event at school released a rule that we are not allowed with jewelry like bracelets, rings, or earrings as much as you're not woman, not to mention the necklaces. Also, things such as the hats aren't, again, accepted, or beret's or anything which covers your head while is not winter to be worn during the school, even if are not worn classes. Also, the principal said no makeup on men, neither short pants, also known as 3 quarter pants here, are not allowed neither on men nor girls. What the? I mean, wasn't school the one which prepared you not for a job, but also for a real life? Oh, long hair, also banned, on guys. >:/ It was said that the teachers are still debating in whether should leave those rules, either remove them, but I ask now, do you agree with all this or you think it's a good thing that they ban things like those?

Man, that's evil! I can't wear anything I like due to that, not to mention I look cranky with the clothes I have to. Of course, with uniforms I agree, but no jewelry? Come on! My favorite bracelet! If they notice it, you get it confiscated for the rest of the year.

You go to school to study, duh. Why waste your time doing your hair and putting on make-up?
Who are you trying to impress with your make-up and outfits?

We can't wear bands, have spikes, have white shoes except for P.T and have to frog jump the entire length of the grounds if we break the rules. And the teachers cut our jair themselves if they are too long. Not allowed to style your beard and/or moustach or it will be shabed off. No tie no class. And you think your rules are bad. Not to mention we get hit for failing with a cane which I am told Hurts.
And school is for education, not fashion.

Not fashion, but what reason to be yourself when you aren't yourself by the way you dress? And Ivana, the school takes more than your half time daily, for months. I don't think you go to school in casual clothing. You need to be dressed in a way, but really, I decide that if the rules stay, i am going to complain about it seriously.
EDIT: I am myself, I can dress how I feel like it, not told whatever to wear. Since I began school, I've been told no long hair, no shorts, no summer wear, no bangles, no earring, no,no, and NO! i really think it's enough with all those things in school. Not to mention I had to cut my hair due to the school's fault! >_< It was long before entered high school!

Yes we have uniforms.
Again, we go to school to study. If you srsly think that you can only express yourself by the way you dress, then you're srsly wrong. I'd rather spend my time enjoying my breakfast than mix-and-match my clothes and worrying what I'll wear tomorrow.

Ahem, well, I do spend time in front of the mirror a lot, but that's every time I prepare to go out. And I can do all the things in a short time, since I move fast. As I said, nothing wrong with uniforms, but I do not feel comfortable in wearing nerdy clothes. i like to wear what is comfortable for me, not for someone else to see.

Exactly. Uniforms save you the tension of picking clothes everyday and thinking whether you wore it last week. Besides, since when does a bracelet matter so much.
p.s arguing against klaus is fun

Well, a bracelet which was given in gift from someone which matters for you IT matters, really. And again, nothing wrong with uniforms, I'll wear 'em, I'm comfortable with them, but really, shortening your cloth choices is a torture.

You could drop out and there wouldn't be any rules to bound you and you could dress all you want for all I care (8

Excuse me? To drop school? What are you as job, teacher? I won't drop school for anything! And it doesn't mean that if I do not agree with something I cannot do something about that in the school. Why are you so choice-against?

@Ivana- Well, it is true
@klaus- you go to school to get an education and make friends. Again, uniforms do not hamper individually. Think for the poor. For them, uniform is a blessing as they don't need to have many clothes

Lulz calm down, no one's telling you to drop school (well, literally, that is).
I'm not "choice-against" (whatever the heck that is), it's called 'get used to it'. Reality doesn't care if you accept it or not. If you aren't gonna drop out, then stop complaining. (8

If schools already have uniform, kneesock, no makeup, etc. rules I don't see the issue with banning jewelry and other stuff.
My school for example made you wear a uniform, kneesocks, black/white/blue shoes only, and only allowed the umm what do you call those earings that's just a tiny stone? not hoops or something big like those. So I don't see the issue with a school banning those things.

But students spend most of their day at school so it makes sense to me that they want to express themselves through their appearance. Specially when in some cases school and studying takes all of their time and they don't have any other opportunity to go out dressed in their own style. That's how it was for me too when I was at the uni; the lessons took all day and I still was glad that I could dress in a style I liked. Because it didn't matter to me that it was "only for school"; as the lessons were a significant part of my daily life so I wanted to express myself through the style I liked. It doesn't have to be reserved only for free time (though unfortunately often it is, specially when you change studies for a real job. And sometimes you have hardly any free time at all except for weekends but even that isn't for everyone...). These particular rules don't make any sense to me; there's nothing wrong with jewelry (besides risking that you'll be robbed of it if it's something expensive but that's probably not the school's responsibility). I have never been at any school with a dress code, so this kind of rules would upset me too.

We do not have uniforms, that's the idea. If we were wearing uniforms, I would have agreed with those until the hair thing, but otherwise, i don't like it.

If you don’t have uniforms, then I don’t think enforcing these rules is just. I mean, when there’s no dress code – like no Spaghetti straps allowed, or micro-minis, or shorts that look like you’re wearing your underwear only, Stripper-shoes, etc. - why would what accessories you put on matter?
The school might as well impose a uniform, if they wanna have students dress in things the way the school wants them to.

like everyone says, the fashion things don't have anything to do with school, lol. We go to school to study. And as theone said, uniforms do a big deal for everyone to not bump into confusion or shame whether they don't have enough cloth variations. Plus, doesn't wearing such of jewelry provocate thieves' eyes upon you? Also, if you need to take off those bracelets when PE, you may blame anyone if they're gone from your uniform.
