I still receive random questions and e-mails on Build A so I hope that by posting this here, it will be of help to any existing Build A players out there. I cannot possibly keep sending the doc to everyone and I don't intend to host it, plus this site doesn't provide the download for the Build A version of the game anymore.

This is the complete game guide, it WILL be long!!



Seriously, do you really THINK we could ever create a game as great as Aveyond all by ourselves? No. No. NO. We didn’t (and probably never will be able to anyway) and so we’ll face the truth, we’ll honestly say it. Aveyond does not belong to us, it belongs to the greatest creator ever, Amanda Fae. All we own is this walkthrough. So please don’t sue us, we don’t have as much money as you think we may have. ^_^

How To Use the Walkthrough


In order to use this walkthrough, all you have to do is to look for the particular section you want to read up on from the Table of Contents (TOC), and you’ll see that next to each section and sub-section, there are codes that look something like this: [xxx].

Hence, for example, if you want to read up on Rhen’s character profile, just highlight the text [rhn] available from the TOC and press Ctrl + C (Copy), then press the keys Ctrl + F (Find) to summon the Find pop-up window, then hit Ctrl + V (Paste) to paste the text in and press the enter key to arrive at the section you want to read.

A/N: Hello everyone!! For once the people from www.amaranthia.com won’t see me typing in nothing but lower case and pirate accent! ^_^() This is the first walkthrough I have ever written, and I hope it can benefit all Aveyond players around the world. First I would like to thank Amanda Fae for the creation of such a wonderful game… Oh what would we do without her?? Next, I want to thank dearest MagickWielder for helping out so much. I’m sorry you couldn’t see this through to the end. *hugs* ^_^ And who can forget keladry? You rock girl, it was so nice of you to help me continue with this when I was at a loss as to what to do… Thank you so much!! Lastly, I would like to thank all Amaranthians as well as everyone who’s reading and making use of this guide. Thank you for your support! ^_^ Hope I can work on more walkthroughs in the future as Amanda produces more fabulous games! But well, for the near future, maybe, just maybe, we’ll produce another walkthrough for Aveyond v2.0!! XD So cya around everyone!

A/N: Hi everybody! For me too, this is the first walkthrough I have ever helped to write. I’m glad that it is for this game, as it truly is wonderful. The time and effort Amanda Fae must have put into making it are astounding, and her work has paid off. Thank you, Amanda, for this game, and for Ahriman’s Prophecy. Big thanks also go to everyone who has helped with this and supported us in making it. Most of all, thanks to luvly_hui for letting me help, I really enjoyed it! If Amanda makes any more games I would love to help with walkthroughs for those as well. If we made the support forums of Amaranthia into a walkthrough, it would be thousands of pages long, which proves how kind and helpful everyone is! In a way, each of you has helped to write this. Once again, thanks to everyone, and I hope to see you all around the site!

Game Background


Aveyond is the sequel to Ahriman’s Prophecy (fondly known as AP) and takes place 500 years after the events in Ahriman’s Prophecy. Talia (main protagonist of AP) is, in Aveyond, the Dreamer, guarding the Dreamland. However, the Dark Lord Ahriman had not been fully defeated previously by Talia and her friends, and he now comes back continuing his vicious scheme to destroy the world. His first step is to send out a subordinate to assassinate Talia, but the attempt fails and Talia, now awakened from the Dream World, but badly wounded, summons help from Rhen, the daughter of her old friends. (well, two of your AP party members, that is…)

In Aveyond, the player goes through the story through the eyes of Rhen. Rhen, an ordinary girl living in the village of Clearwater, has been summoned to a severely injured Talia on a fateful day. She saves Talia and the priestess presents her with a Priestess Ring full of magical power. This, however, causes Rhen to be mistaken for a priestess, captured and then sold as a slave Luckily, she is freed when her Sword Singer abilities are recognized and she soon goes into training at a well-known institution, the Shadwood Academy, along with Lars, the mean son of her previous mistress. After a period of time spent at the academy, Rhen reunites with Talia, only to learn about Ahriman and his devious plots. She then decides to embark on a journey to stop Ahriman and bring back peace to the world.

To upset Ahriman’s schemes, Rhen is required to gather all the eight druids and then make use of their combined powers to help stop Ahriman. She travels the four isles and, along the way, meets many companions and soul mates who are willing to fight alongside her. At the same time, there are many less friendly foes, who stand in her way.

Aveyond provides the player with much freedom in the sense that the player can choose the order of game-play as well as the development of the plot, notably, the freedom to choose between different endings depending on one’s preferences.

Summary of Ahriman’s Prophecy


Ahriman’s Prophecy is the prequel to Aveyond, and is focused around the journeys of Talia. Talia led an ordinary life in the village of Elden, where everyone went to Avril to be named, a deciding factor for one’s future occupation. Talia hoped to be named Herbalist, but she saw a weird vision and Avril decided to send her to Thais, to train in the Collegium of War and Magick, instead of naming her. Fate is the rope that binds her and Ahriman, a demon bent on destroying the world. She will meet many friends on her way, but at the same time, there are less-peaceful denizens lurking around every corner…

V. Introduction To Important Characters in Aveyond [char]


Thank you to MagickWielder for the information in this section!!

NOTE: Newly recruited characters will automatically be at Rhen’s level, but while they are in the reserve party, they will stop levelling up until they are placed in the active party, so choose your active party carefully!


Rhen, the Sword Singer [rhn]


Rhen used to be a humble villager from the peaceful hamlet of Clearwater, but Fate is constantly toying with her. She is the main character in the story, and has undergone many trials and tribulations, such as being sold as a slave. One day she discovers that she has the ability of a Sword Singer.

Will she save the world from Ahriman? Only time will tell.

Rhen is an excellent character, as all main characters normally are. She uses a mix of melee and magic skills to fell her foes and is basically quite balanced. She stays in the active party forever, so make sure you train her up and make use of her abilities in battles…


Lars, the Sorcerer [lrs]


Lars is a spoiled brat, who always HAS to get his way. He looks down on all manner of ‘low-life’, from slaves to ‘Pirate scum’. Perhaps being the Veldarah Empress’ cousin has inflated his ego… His hometown is the quaint village of Ghalarah, on the Eastern isle, where he lives with his equally pompous mother, Mistress Rona. (Yet, all humans change, so, watch his growth as you progress with the game…)

Lars is perhaps the best offensive spell-caster in the game, with elemental orb staves that boost the attack power of certain spells, though they also dampen the strength of others. Because his magic comes from within him, it costs more mana to use than Rhen’s magic, which she draws from her sword, but his is more powerful. He, however, is quite useless when you want to beat your foe with melee attacks.


Dameon, the Sun Druid [dam]


Dameon is an immortal. Yes, you heard right… He is the Druid of the Sun, and Talia’s son. (No rhyme intended.) But he has a few tricks up his sleeve, and it is hard to see where his loyalties lie, so watch out!

Dameon is the best defensive spell-caster in the game, no questions asked. He has a variety of healing, status altering and defense spells to minimize and recover any damage done on your party. However, he’s quite useless if you want offensive power.


Elini, the Demon Summoner [elni]


Elini is a noblewoman from the desert kingdom of Veldt. She has three husbands, and is looking for yet another one! She has a fiery temper, and is very protective of her husbands (as you will later see, if you make the right plot advances). She is a demon summoner. The best thing about that, is that she earns a new spell every time you slay a Daeva! (Of course, she has to be in your active party at the point of the Daeva’s defeat.)

While Elini’s demon summoning skills pack a punch, and come in a wide variety, they are mostly single-target skills, and all of them burn up a lot of her mana. However, unlike Lars, she can attack decently when she runs out of fuel.


Te’ijal, the Vampress [teij]


Te’ijal is a Vampress. Yup, blood is one of her favorite foods. She’s also an archer, it seems, although she wields rapiers just as well, probably even better. She has an unhealthy fascination for the living, and an even more unhealthy, and morbid, sense of humor. (But then again, what Vampress doesn’t?) She thinks that self-righteous men are especially cute. (Again, you’ll get a chance to see this in the game, should you stumble upon the right plot line.)

When not feasting on hemoglobin, or threatening to feast on hemoglobin, Te’ijal enjoys fighting. And she’s good at it! An elven rapier, coupled with a soul pendant (see below for info) are all she needs to inflict shocking damage! Her only bad point is that she can only attack one enemy at once. Her skill is useless, unless you want to get some mana-efficient healing done.

Note: If you see someone on the boards posting ‘Vampire girl’, then they are referring to Te’ijal. Her name IS pretty hard to remember by heart, after all. Unless you’re Aveyond-obsessed. =) (luvly_hui: or an ardent Te’ijal fan like ME!! Muahaha…)


Galahad, the Paladin [glhd]


Galahad is a goody-two-shoes. No, really. He serves the King of Sedona, on the Western isle. Claiming to always fight for justice, he… well, fights for justice. He especially loathes Te’ijal, but that only seems to add to the chemistry between them, much to Galahad’s misfortune… (This is very amusing sometimes, as you will find out.)

Aside from amusement purposes, Galahad is quite useless, because, well, he’s pretty weak… He has a decent amount of HP, however. Still, other characters like Te’ijal and Pirate John are often the #1 choices.


Pirate John, the Dragon Rider [prjhn]

Pirate John is a dirty criminal. Yeah, he’s a pirate, first of all. His location, a jail cell on the Veniara isles, is enough to testify to what he does for a living. He’s also a dragon rider, though. Surprise surprise, eh? …considering Teyhor dragons detest all evil. (I’d imagine a criminal would be considered at least a little evil.) Also, John is known to be a four-timer, having a relationship with practically every lady in the party…

But in John’s defense, he’s changed, and is no longer a bad guy.

Even though Pirate John has less HP than Te’ijal, his melee attack is second only to hers, even when she has the Soul Pendant equipped! So make sure to have him in your party, if you want a melee party.

Marge is… Mad. O_o She lives in the aptly named Sour Ale Tavern, on the Veniara isle where Pirate John is. You have to pay her to have her join your party… Yes, she’s the only character who works for a fee. Nothing is free when it comes to Mad Marge. She’s also crude, and very, wow, how should I put this…? Offensive? Yes.

Her attack, HP and all other stats are pretty average. Don’t get her unless you have money to spare, or just want to know what it’s like to complete the game with all the available characters.

Talia, the Dreamer [tlia]


Talia and her friends had fought valiantly against Ahriman five hundred years ago (in the events of Aveyond’s prequel, Ahriman’s Prophecy). She is half-fairy, which explains her long life. Since then, she became the Dreamer and guarded the Dreamland. (You didn’t think she was called the Dreamer because she didn’t pay attention in class, did you?) However, Ahriman’s return and an attempt by one of his servants, Agas, to kill her pulls her out of the dream-world. She summons Rhen to save her and also help her stop Ahriman’s evil plans. After Rhen and company embark on their journey to find all the druids, Talia stays in Aveyond with the Oracle and Devin, discussing ways to stop Ahriman. At the same time, she guides Rhen along by giving the young Sword Singer advice. Talia is also Dameon’s mother, but their relationship is far from cordial due to some incidents that happened in the past, involving Dameon’s father. Due to her duties as the Dreamer, she also seems to have difficulties in caring for and communicating with her son, but with Rhen’s help, Talia’s relationship with Dameon may take a turn for the better…

Talia can be a ’friend’, but she is a non-playable character (in this game anyway!)

(NPC) Devin is Talia’s long lost childhood friend. After fighting along with Talia against Ahriman, he eventually married Alicia and became King of Thais. However, when Thais was destroyed by monsters, he fled and became a hermit, living in a small wooden cottage in the deep forest. When he is finally reunited with Talia he discovers that Alicia has passed away... After accepting Talia’s invitation, he joins the group and heads towards Aveyond to do all he can to help. Although he seems to be a rather boring character, he will be involved in various plot developments later in the game as you learn more about him.

Ahriman, like his former self in Ahriman’s Prophecy, is determined to destroy the entire world and send everything into a realm of despair and darkness. Although his initial attempt to assassinate Talia failed, he still continues with his plots with alarming speed and vigor. Also, he seems to have some scheme in mind that involves Dameon. It is up to Rhen and her friends to stop him before the world is ruined and also before Dameon is further led into the world of darkness and corruption.

The Beginning – Clearwater [begn]


- Starting a new game -

The game starts off with a scene of a priestess being heavily wounded by one of the Dark Lord Ahriman’s subordinates, Agas. The priestess sends out a butterfly, which she constructs out of light with her priestly powers, to seek help. The screen then show credits as the butterfly flutters to Clearwater, where Rhen, the protagonist, is. The game starts! ^_^ Enjoy the music! It is truly breathtaking.

- Finding Dyonna the herbalist -

Rhen saves the priestess and brings her from the cliff back to Clearwater through the magical portal. Rhen’s father then appears, recognizes Talia, and takes her to his and Rhen’s home. From where Rhen is, head left, go up the ladder and enter the house with a fenced yard, beside the bridge. This is Rhen’s home. Rhen’s father (Pa) will then send you to find the herbalist Dyonna Lauzrel to treat the priestess’ wounds. Dyonna’s house is the furthest one to the northeast direction. From Rhen’s house, go right past the bridge, up the ladder, left across the bridge, then up again to reach her house.

- Finding the Marionbells -

After the priestess’ wounds are tended, Rhen’s mother (Ma) tells Rhen to pick 5 Marionbell flowers in preparation for Clearwater’s annual celebration, the Spring Equinox Festival, and gives Rhen an empty basket for that task. To find the marionbells, head to the area where your childhood friend Peter is. Once out of Rhen’s house, head down the ladder and back to the area where Rhen first appeared in the game. You’ll find four marionbells there, two on each side of the bridge. In order to pick the last marionbell, head to the cave beside the Clearwater sign. When you’re inside the cave, head upwards. You’ll end up on a small grassy area where the final marionbell is. After that, dusk will approach, so after handing the Marionbells to Rhen’s Ma, it’s time to sleep! ^_^

- Ahriman’s schemes -

After Rhen sleeps, there is a cut scene (CS) showing the Dark Lord Ahriman. He is trying to kill the priestess after having failed on the previous attempt, and summons Dameon, the Druid of Sun (Sun Guardian). Dameon, betrayed by the Sun God and now working under Ahriman, plans to turn his mother, the priestess, into a slave.

The next day, the house is empty, save for the priestess Rhen rescued. Talk to her, and she will say that Rhen is the chosen one, and present Rhen with a magical Priestess Ring. You will put it on, and now it’s time to check out the village. (the music changes into a little festive tune, enjoy!!) After you’re done exploring the whole town, you can head over to the cave, where Rhen’s childhood friend Peter is. He tells Rhen that he and Jenna are going to look for Billy Harper’s sheep, and invites Rhen along. Agree and follow Peter into the cave. But instead of seeing Peter, a strange man will be blocking your way. Speak to him, and Rhen will expose her Priestess Ring during the dialogue.

The stranger mistakes Rhen for the priestess because of the ring and forces a pair of slave bracelets onto Rhen. Despite her protests and struggles, Rhen is shipped to the Eastern Isle, where the slave trade is flourishing, and sold off to a family to begin her new life as a slave.

Rhen’s Days As A Slave – Ghalarah [rhsla]


- Killing the spiders – Battle tutorial -

Rhen, now a slave dressed in rags, is working for a family in Ghalarah. Her owner, Mistress Rona, is a mean and demanding woman while her son, Lars, is proud and arrogant (this has been made worse by the fact that he has been recruited as an apprentice sorcerer for the Shadwood Academy in Veldarah, which is truly a great honor.) Mistress Rona asks Rhen to check the chore list on the desk in her room. One of the chores is to kill off the spiders in the attic. You should make use of this opportunity to familiarize yourself with the battle system in Aveyond.

Make sure to save regularly! (AKA before and after killing each of the spiders. You never know when Rhen could bite the dust! O_O)

So, head up to the attic in the house and you will see three purple spiders crawling about. In order to fight them, walk up to them and hit the Enter key or spacebar, and you will trigger a battle (“Time to die, spider!” Rhen will yell enthusiastically, perhaps for the last time, if you’re not careful!). A battle screen will then pop up and fighting commences. There are four options available: Attack (deal a physical attack), Skills (use magic spells or skills), Shield (defend for a turn), and Items (use items from inventory). Just deal physical attacks to the spiders and they should die after a few hits. After the spider dies, you’ll find that Rhen is now facing a mass of squished spider. Welcome to the most interesting aspect of Aveyond – you don’t get money and items straight after battle, you have to search the corpses for them! Remember to loot the corpses by pressing the spacebar or Enter key while standing on top of them!! This is going to be the main way for you to earn money and receive items from battles in Aveyond.

After killing off all the spiders in the attic AND looting all the corpses, head back down and talk to Mistress Rona. You have now completed your first chore, so you should move on to your second one.

- Getting Lars’ traveling clothes from the seamstress -

You’re now free to walk about and check out the city of Ghalarah, so do so. The seamstress Terlin lives in the first house to the left after walking down from Lars’ home. When Rhen talks to Terlin, she hands Rhen Lars’ traveling clothes and you can choose to chat with her for a while, though you don’t have to if you want to carry on. After you’ve explored enough, head back to talk to Mistress Rona and she tells you to get Lars back home for supper. (Lars can be found with his snotty friends in a clearing between the trees at the southern part of the town.) When you deliver his mother’s message to him, he refuses to listen and even uses a magic spell to remove Rhen’s slave bracelets in his annoyance. (Yay!) When Rhen reports back, Mistress Rona punishes her and forces the poor lass to go to bed without giving her dinner. Oh well. So head back to Rhen’s room and sleep off the hunger.

- Rhen’s powers awaken -

The next morning when you talk to Mistress Rona, she tells you to look for Lars, since the envoy from Shadwood Academy will arrive at any time to fetch him. Head outside the house and go downwards, and you’ll see Lars bullying Edie, a slave boy. Approach them, and Rhen sticks up for Edie. In the process, she somehow manages to use a stick to cast a spell on Lars. This catches the eye of two strangers nearby and they approach her. Turns out the two, namely Ghelda and Lorad, are the envoy from Shadwood Academy, and they marvel at Rhen’s ability to draw magic from a mere stick. (You see, in Aveyond, Sword Singers are normally only able to draw magic from metal.) They soon decide that Rhen has the rare and powerful talent of a Sword Singer and officially release her from slavery. They then present Rhen with a token that proves her freedom as a citizen and servant of the Empress, and tell her to head to the academy in Veldarah.

Ghelda then leaves with Lars to prepare for the journey, while Lorad stays to answer Rhen’s questions. After talking to Lorad, head back to Mistress Rona, who now refuses to let you stay the night. Rhen can now leave Ghalarah and head to Veldarah. You can sleep at the inn instead, if you have the money to spare and feel that Rhen needs her shut-eye, but it’s recommended that you just carry on to Veldarah, especially if you’re using the 10-15 hour demo...

- Traveling to Veldarah -

Well, firstly, this area is actually quite big, with quite a number of things you can get, so you can jolly well take your own sweet time to explore. Meanwhile you can also fight monsters to earn enough money for you to stay at the inn in Ghalarah should you ever need the rest and HP replenishment (one stay costs 10 gold pennies). Initially, you can train with the spiders, and then head back to town to rest or to purchase restorative items. When you’re confident enough, fight the wild chickens as they give more experience points and gold pennies than the spiders. If you want to train even more after that, you might want to consider training with the snakes and mice in the caves, west of Veldarah, until you’re satisfied with Rhen’s level.

In order to reach Veldarah from Ghalarah, first head to the right, past the bridge, then just follow the dirt path. You’ll see a signpost. Continue following the dirt path, go up the ladder, and when you reach the point where there is a ladder heading down into a valley, head up instead of down. Then, move to the left and you should see a bridge. Cross it, move to the right, and go up where there is a small gap between the trees. You’ll then see an opening to a cave on your left and a ladder leading down to a lower platform to your right. Head down the ladder and continue right, following the cobblestone path, and you’ll reach Veldarah. Try making some little detours on the way to Veldarah. You might find some nice stuff. ^_^

The Learning Journey – Veldarah [jrny]


- Rhen, the apprentice Sword Singer -

Once you head to Veldarah, we recommend that you check everything out, just for the heck of it! Veldarah is an absolutely beautiful place that was hand-drawn by Amanda. ^_^ But if you want to continue with the plot, then go on ahead to Shadwood Academy! It’s in the northwest part of town. Go there and talk to Headmaster Harald, a man in a little room on the first floor of the academy, to your left. Enjoy more dialogue, and then follow his instructions (remember to change out of those rags by accessing Rhen’s school uniform in your inventory!).

Your room is on the first floor of the Academy - enter the courtyard, then go to the left door and search the rooms one by one. Yours should be the first one on the lower column, it has a treasure chest inside beside the bed. After a nice sleep, and a cut-scene, go outside and you’ll be challenged by Lorad, one of ‘talent scouts’ who brought you here! Use Slide Thrust, a new Sword Singer skill that Rhen has learned, and he should fall quickly. Don’t worry about HP and MP – if you just keep using Slide Thrust, he should fall soon. You can always rest in your room for free if the fight takes it out of Rhen.

Now you will be an official apprentice Sword Singer, and during your time spent at the academy, you have gained 5 levels! With Rhen’s new apprentice class schedule, you are now free to learn 5 spells from the classrooms on the highest level of the academy. If you want Rhen to learn the more advanced spells, but her level is still too low, you may want to consider going out of Veldarah to train a bit more, before coming back to learn the skills. (Level 15 is enough for Rhen to learn the most advanced spells the academy has to offer.)

- Meeting the mysterious priestess again -

You’re probably wondering what to do, now that Rhen has all the good skills that you want her to have. Well, go to the Junk Shop. (It has a key for its sign and it is located near the entrance to Veldarah itself.) You’ll see three items for sale: a ring that looks very familiar, a birdcage and a mirror. If you have enough money, (and we mean enough money. Seriously.) get all three. Otherwise, just buy the very cheap ring. The Priestess that you met a few months ago (at least for Rhen) appears! After a long dialogue, you find out that she is the Dreamer Talia, and she tells you to go meet the Empress of Veldarah. After another lengthy dialogue, this time with the Empress, you discover more details of your mission. Lars will also join you during the speech, because he insists that he’s the best sorcerer in the land. *rolls eyes*

- Getting to Aveyond -

Before leaving Veldarah, go pick up Lars, who is in his room at the academy. If you have any spare money, get some better equipment and supplies from the various shops around town. Head out of Veldarah, and you’ll see Talia somewhere near the town’s entrance/exit. Talk to her, and agree to escort her to Aveyond. To get to the World Map from Veldarah, go west and south through the trees; back down the bridge, and east again. When you see a ladder, go down it and head northwest, on a long boardwalk. Keep to the north, and you should end up on a big map. To the north is the ferry to the Northern Isle, where Aveyond is. To the east (you have to go south and north again), is the boat dealer. Talk to him and he will ask you if you know anyone who’s looking for a husband. You don’t, but when you find someone suitable, return to him and he will lower the price of the boats. (Additional advice for those who wonder whether to get the Skudder or the rowboat: You can’t cross deep waters in the rowboat, but you can use it to travel to other isles to battle stronger monsters until you earn enough money to buy the Skudder.) Explore the rest of the Eastern Isle. To the south is Wildwood; don’t go there until you’ve been to the Northern Isle, because the monsters there are tougher. To advance in the plot you need to go to Aveyond. Pay the ferry man 20 GP and he takes you to the Northern Isle.

As usual, you have two options. You can proceed directly to Aveyond, or you can take your time and explore. To the north is Thornkeep, a snowy village, and home of the Mountain King. If you head east, then north, then west, you will be at the mines. Here you can rescue a man (you can trigger this quest by first talking to his wife in Thornkeep, but it is not necessary to do so, as you can also save him without triggering the side quest; it depends on how you wish to go about playing your game). There are also a few caves that contain treasure, so look around thoroughly. To get to Aveyond, go east again, instead of west, and travel south around the lake to a cave. You are now back on the world map. You can either go the Ice Palace and talk to the Snow Queen, or go east and enter another cave. If you go through the caves, you will find yourself in a grassy area.

Aveyond (The Sun Shrine) is located to the northeast in this grassy area. Just follow the signpost. You can also choose to first visit Teacup Town, home of the binis. Here you can buy a smokebomb, an item needed to calm bees to obtain beeswax. (For more details, refer to the section: Rhen’s Mission: Aveyond) To the south are the Memory Caverns. Through this cave network is a beehive, fairies (talk to the Snow Queen), and some treasure.

- A New Prophecy -

Talk to the Oracle at Aveyond and you receive some disturbing news. Ahriman is on the rise again, and this time, it’s up to you to save the world. He has captured the souls of 6 druids: Rashnu, Druid of Darkness; Vohu Manah, Druid of Music; Armaiti, Druid of Agriculture; Daena, Druid of Wisdom; Eithera, Druid of Strength; and Vata, Druid of Time. Your quest is to defeat the daevas guarding their souls and return the druids to Aveyond. Only Dameon, the Sun Priest, remains. He can join you on your quest, but is really what he seems to be? (Remember, you saw him in the beginning of the game…?) Each time you save a druid, a door will open in the Sun Shrine’s basement treasury, and you can choose one of two gifts to keep. Once you have saved all the druids, a secret door will open, and the Sword of Shadows will be revealed. It is the only sword that can defeat Ahriman, and it must never be broken, because it contains the souls of demons, who would be released to wreak havoc on the world.

- Wildwoods – Becoming a full-fledged Sword Singer -

Once you have visited the Northern Isle and the Sun Shrine, you should be at a level high enough for you to enter the Wildwoods without getting killed by the monsters in the area. Talk to Elini, the Veldt woman standing outside, and she will join your party. Explore the woods thoroughly, except the Halloween Hills, and the Lands End region (the grassy area), which you should leave till later. Make sure you buy a garlic necklace and at least one stake from the tavern, or those vampires will suck your blood! If you head to the southwest, you will find your old friend from AP! Although Devin is now a hermit, Talia is amazed to see him, and goes with him to Aveyond. You should go and speak to them once you have finished in Wildwood.

To the east are some frozen men…hmm…you’ve heard of a hind that turns men to stone…could she be nearby? This is the ‘great deed’ that Lorad was talking about, and if you defeat the hind, you will be made a full Sword Singer (and full-fledged sorcerer for Lars)! Make sure you have a mirror to reflect the hind’s gaze, and wax to plug your ears, or she’ll freeze you too! (For more details, please refer to the side quests guide) So, what’s the big deal about passing this Trial? Well, nothing much, except Lars can join a guild and learn some awesome spells, and Rhen will be able to use Sword Singer Skills and special swords she finds along the way. Rhen also will get another cool outfit to change into. XD (Meaning, stop the hind or else you’ll stand to lose out!!)

The Halloween Hills are exactly what the name suggests; spooky…they are haunted by ghosts, and the only animals are bats. To the northwest is Ghed’ahre, the vampire village, and to the east is New Witchwood. Of the witches who live here, one will be looking for a husband (and you know just the man!), one wants to look uglier (completing this quest will earn you a shovel-yay!), another wants a sludge-making machine (you’re sure you’ve seen one somewhere…), and another wants her ‘good’ child taken away. Goodness, witches are demanding! The vampires are almost as bad…but if they don’t seem to have any purpose, you can stake them with stakes bought from the inn. Te’ijal lives in Ghed’ahre, but she can’t venture outside without sunblock, due to her photosensitive skin. (For further details regarding the side quests mentioned above, please refer to the side quests guide)

- Getting the Druid’s Soul -

Rashnu, the Druid of Darkness, is the first druid you should rescue. His body is in the Vampire Cathedral in Ghed’ahre, the vampire town. To get there, go to Wildwoods and follow the signpost to the Halloween Hills. Take a few steps west, then head north. When you see a small path through the trees leading north, you have found Ghed’ahre. The cathedral is the big building that looks like…a cathedral. (like, duh, the building just tells you that the plot must be triggered there…) Talk to the vampires, and they will tell you about rumours of a secret basement under the cathedral. Try the door inside…it leads to poor Rashnu’s body, but where is his soul? Maybe take a break for a while…play some music. There’s an organ right there – why don’t you try playing it? Alright. On to explore the rest of the church. To the left you’ll see a door… What are you waiting for?

So, enter the door, and then wander around, and you should find three doors. The top-right one leads to a treasure chest, the bottom-left one leads to an empty room (where you can see another room with a chest – AKA the ‘mystery’ room, because no one can remember how to get there). The bottom-middle room leads to a room with lots of coffins. Search them all, and…ta da! A secret passage is revealed! Follow it to the end, where there is the door leading to the final chamber, and Zarich…

Have Lars cast Sleep on Zarich, whose attack is almost purely magical, while Rhen and Elini just do the worst damage they can with their most powerful spells. Lars can cure whenever necessary. After a while Zarich should fall…

- Saving the Druid -

Now that you’ve defeated Zarich, you can collect the soul (just press spacebar while facing, and standing adjacent to, the orb), and take it back to Rashnu. He will thank you, and join your party as a guest. Once you take him back to Aveyond, you can choose a gift from his treasury. You get to choose between a bag of silver coins and sunblock. … Wait. Sunblock. Sunblock?? Now, didn’t a really charming vampress just ask for that so she could venture out of the dead city of Ghed’ahre?

- Getting the Druid’s Soul -

Vohu Manah, the Druid of Music, is in the Lands End Temple, which is on the other side of the Wildwoods. Walk southeast from the signpost, which is just south of the Wildwoods’ Tavern, until you are in a grassy area. Go left, and then as far right as possible (just go back if you reach a dead end), and you should be in a large clearing, with the temple in the middle. As before, the druid is frozen solid. The stairs to the left lead to the basement, where Nanghaithya awaits…

If you have any, use spells that have a lasting effect, like Decompose, or Weevils (Necromancer’s Guild). If not, just attack him as best you can! Now is a good time to use Elini’s powerful summoning spells…

- Saving the Druid -

Collect Vohu Manah’s soul, and take it upstairs to his body. Return him to Aveyond in return for a special gift from his treasury. You have a choice of either the sleep flute, or 20 emeralds. Once again, it is advised to take the item, instead of the cash value gift, but it isn’t so important this time. The sleep flute is effective on weaker monsters, but doesn’t always work on the stronger ones. The emeralds can help to buy the boat, but you can always earn money by fighting monsters.

Go to the Highlands, on the western isle, and follow the path until you reach a signpost. Go north up the ladder, and follow the path again. When the path ends, look for a ladder and go up it. To get to Green Rock Temple, pass through the cave just ahead; go west across the bridge and up the ladders, until you reach the temple. There you will find the frozen body of Armaiti, Druid of Agriculture.
To find the daeva, instead of going to the cave straight ahead, go further east, until you come to another cave. Don’t go up the ladder; just go into the next tunnel, which is slightly northeast.

As for the actual battle with the daeva, Tawrich – fight sneaky. Unless you’re incredibly strong, it’s going to be easier to kill the daeva if he’s not hurling spells at you. If you have spells that make him sick, or silence him, use them. If not, then just keep on trying. (You might need to level up more, though).

- Saving the Druid -

Once you’ve got Armaiti’s soul, take it back to Green Rock Temple and rescue him. This time, the thank-you is more of a warning that time is running out. You must quickly take him back to Aveyond. (Or so he says, it doesn’t really affect the plot). You choice of gifts is this: either a climbing guide, which enables you to climb ropes after having read it (which means you can get the Cloak of Undying Loyalty), or a cooking kit, which means that after you loot monsters, you receive meat. The climbing guide is probably better, because you can’t get the Cloak any other way, but you can always buy food or rest somewhere. Anyway, for people who bother to train up, chances are, by the time you reach a new area, you will be powerful enough to not need to buy food or restorative items…

- Getting the Druid’s Soul -

The Druid of Wisdom, Daena, lives in the Moon Temple, which is on the northern isle, near the Ice Palace and Caverns. The bad news is that the daeva guarding his soul is in a locked section of the Ice Caverns. The good news is that the Snow Queen will leave you the key if you end the fight between her and her husband, who has moved to Thornkeep. He refuses to believe that fairies exist, so if you can bring him proof, it will stop the fighting. There are fairies in the Memory Caverns near Aveyond; you need to capture one (in a bottle bought from a junk shop in Sedona), and take it to him and reconcile the couple. So now that you have the key, enter the Ice Caverns and explore around the place. This area is pretty straightforward, so what you can do is just get the stuff and head for the daeva, Indra.

Have Te’ijal attack Indra physically (assuming you have already gotten an Elven Rapier for her from Rootwell), and Rhen cast offensive spells. Lars or Dameon can heal or cast status effect spells, or Elini can summon demons. Indra can prove to be pretty tough, as are the Silvens and Ice Slimes in the caves, so make sure you make the effort to train up.

- Saving the Druid -

After taking Daena back to Aveyond, you can choose between two gifts: 6 Diamonds or a Dizzy Doll. The Dizzy Doll works the same way the Sleep Flute does, except that it inflicts the Dizzy status onto your enemies. Depending on which you are more interested in you can make your choice, as neither are plot-related items.

The Druid of Strength [dr_str]


- Getting the Druid’s Soul -

Eithera, the Druid of Strength, lives in the Stronghold Temple. To get there, you need to go the Demon Caves, on the Southern Isle. They aren’t called the demon caves for nothing, so watch out! Make sure you get some fire amulets for your party, as these help a lot. From the southern dock of the Southern Isle, go north-east to a large lake and follow the sign south. From Veldt, follow the river south until you find the sign.

Once you are in the Caves, go through the opening to the north-west, and follow the road. Get the Sword of Might on the first level before moving on to the second level, and get the fire axe (if you have Galahad) before the final level. Get the Shield of Madness, then fight the daeva, Saurva!

If you have Te’ijal and Pirate John, have them attack physically, and let Rhen and whoever else you have use their worst spells. If you have Dameon, let him use a shield spell, because otherwise the daeva can easily take the weaker party members out in one blow.

- Saving the Druid -

Bringing Eithera back to Aveyond will give you a choice between a Mithril Rapier and a Red Demon Summon. The Mithril Rapier is a very strong weapon for Pirate John (but of course the elven rapier is the best one), while the Red Demon Summon is a summon spell for Elini that allows her to attack the entire enemy party with a low Mana usage. Depending on your preferences with party members you can make your own choice…


The Druid of Time [dr_tm]


- Getting the Druid’s Soul -

To save Vata, the Druid of Time, you need to go to both Thais and Mysten Far, which means you need a dragon. To ride a dragon, you first need a bridle (given as a gift from the Empress for solving the Nightingale quest - see side quests guide), and then you need to recruit Pirate John. Once you have done this, you’re free to fly! Although the temple is across the rainbow bridge in the Memory Caverns, the daeva, Aesma, is in the Dark Caverns near Thais.

Thais is far east, so go search the skies…Once you’re there, follow the signpost and look for a small opening to the north-east. Climb up a ladder, down another, and head around and north to the Caverns. Inside it’s fairly straightforward, just make sure that you explore carefully because the way forward can look like a dead end.

This is the last boss before Ahriman, so he’s gonna be hard…Once again, have Te’ijal and Pirate John attack him physically, Dameon shield/heal, and Rhen and Lars use offensive magic. Elini can summon, but make sure you don’t use up all of her mana at once, because this fight could last a while. Strangely enough, Aesma often heals himself instead of attacking so use that to your advantage.

- Saving the Druid -

Before you can rescue the Druid, you need to cross the Rainbow Bridge. To do so, by now you should know that you’ll need the Dreamer’s Tear, which is…you guessed it, in the Dreamworld! The Dreamworld is accessible from Mysten Far, which is northeast of Thais’ island. In Mysten Far’s temple, head down to the basement and touch the statue. This will bring you to the Dreamworld. This is a very straightforward place, so just head right, head all the way down and fight Agas to get the Dreamer’s Tear. Then, finally, with Vata’s soul as well as the Dreamer’s Tear, you can head over the rainbow bridge in the Memory Caverns (in Aveyond, just in case you forgot) and then head further into the temple to find the frozen Druid of Time.

Vata, when brought back to Aveyond, offers Rhen a gift of either a Gauss Shield Spell, or the Cloak of Invisibility. The Gauss Shield Spell, when cast by Lars during battle, will summon an earth shield for the party. On the other hand, the Cloak of Invisibility will make the party invisible to monsters. So, depending on your needs or preferences, you are free to make your choice. Forgoing either of the items will not affect the plot.

- After Gathering All the Druids in Aveyond -

It is now time. After traveling through the world of Aveyond, Rhen and company have finally gathered the eight druids together. In the Sun Shrine, all the druids will combine their power and unlock the Sword of Shadows, the only weapon that can destroy the Dark Lord Ahriman.

The door in the Sun Shrine, previously inaccessible, will now be opened to Rhen. Enter the door when you are prompted to do so, and take the Sword of Shadows, Rhen’s ultimate weapon in the game. (Remember to equip it!!) Head back outside and you will be told that Ahriman is possibly in the deeper parts of the Stronghold Temple in Veldt. (Remember the locked door in the Stronghold Temple that you couldn’t get through?) Eithera will hand you the Crystal Key (the key to the locked door, of course) and warn you about the dangers beyond that mysterious door.

Now, be on your way, head back to Stronghold Temple (in the Southern Isle, near Veldt), and head north to the locked door. Unlock it using the Crystal Key, and you’ll enter the final dungeon, where Ahriman awaits.

The Final Showdown With Ahriman [shdwn]


- The Final Dungeon -

Past the locked door, you’ll find a fairly simple underground passageway. The areas on either side lead to treasure, while the middle path is the right way forward. The Wyverns and Angels of Death are tough, but with Pirate John and Te’ijal and their Elven rapiers, you shouldn’t face too much of a problem. The Angels of Death will always be blocking your way … but they’re just so cool!! An effective battle strategy against these two enemies is to have Lars inflict various status ailments on them so they will be unlikely to attack the party. If you are lucky, you get elixirs after fighting these enemies.

Head forward and you’ll end up in a place which looks somewhat like a mansion. (o_O ??) Anyway, just head on. Like in the previous screen, Angels of Death will be blocking your way while Wyverns will be hanging around. (If you exit the screen, the Angels of Death will still be blocking your way when you refresh the screen. Think of them as normal enemies that can be revived, but are immobile) There are some fairies along the way that may…or may not…help you. Look at them closely…does one of their faces look a bit green to you? Make sure you save before going through the final door.

When you’re through exploring the place, head onwards and prepare for the final battle in the game (Meaning: save, heal and equip yourself properly!!!)

- The Final Battle: Face to Face with Ahriman -

You finally come face to face with the Dark Lord himself. You are now where you saw Ahriman in opening scenes of the game. He seems amused at the party’s appearance, and you’ll see a CS. Now, remember Dameon talking with Ahriman in the beginning of the game? There. Your premonition did come true, Dameon IS a traitor.

However, it seems his feelings for Rhen are true. In fact, he invites Rhen to follow Ahriman with him. Here, you will be given a choice whether to follow Dameon and Ahriman, or try to talk Dameon out of it and convince him to fight Ahriman with you. (To get ending number one, choose to follow Dameon. For more details, please refer to the Endings section)

So, assuming you decided that you would like to continue tanning in the sun rather than writhing away in darkness, talk Dameon out of it and he will come to his senses. Remember the wise words of a fairy: fairy dust always shows the truth… Anyways, this will also allow Dameon to master his ultimate spell, Sun Fury. And now, you get to battle Ahriman to stop all his plans once and for all.

Alright. This battle really depends on your luck. If you’re really unlucky, you can be sure Ahriman will be casting nasty spells on your party every single turn. If Lady Luck is shining on you, you can simply wipe him out within a few turns, with no Mana or items spent on restoring your health.

Here’s a battle strategy that is more or less bound to work: Have Rhen use her most offensive magic, Pirate John and Te’ijal whack Ahriman with elven rapiers equipped, Lars make Ahriman confused, dizzy or sleepy followed by his most powerful magic spells, Dameon use his offensive spells, Elini use her ultimate summons, and do not use Mad Marge or Galahad unless you’re looking for a challenge here. Make sure you have either Lars or Daemon in your party so that there’s a healer to keep your party alive. It is also highly recommended to have both Te’ijal and Pirate John since they’re the most powerful attackers and can inflict the most damage.

After Ahriman has finally died, you realize that instead of a “The End” screen, you can still walk about and control your characters. So, what’s the first thing you should do? Report to the Sun Shrine in Aveyond!! Once there, you can walk around and talk to the druids and others. Then, you’ll be prompted by the oracle to make a decision on what you intend to do from now onwards. This will determine the game’s ending for you, so please refer to Endings number two, three and four under the Endings section for more details. Remember to choose wisely!! ^_^

Endings [endgs]


There are four different endings for the player to choose from in Aveyond, and, well, honestly, all of them are rather… (er hrm!!) skimpy except for one of them (which is apparently the proposed or rather more like ideal ending for the game)…

Okay, actually, there’re five, but technically, dying doesn’t really count. ^_^()

*SPOILERS WARNING: BY READING THIS PORTION BEFORE COMPLETING THE GAME YOU MAY LOSE THE ENJOYMENT OF TRYING OUT AND DISCOVERING THESE THINGS FOR YOURSELF. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!*

Ending number one:
Rhen and Dameon fall into darkness, choosing to serve Ahriman and help him destroy the world
Description:
Deciding not to fight Ahriman, Rhen joins Dameon and offers her services to the Dark Lord. Together they bring forth darkness to the world. However, the two slowly lose all trace of humanity (including their emotions for each other) and remain lost in darkness………
How to Trigger:
Choose this when Dameon offers Rhen eternal power, just before the fight with Ahriman.

Ending number two:
Rhen returns to Clearwater after defeating Ahriman
Description:
After defeating Ahriman, Rhen returns to Clearwater, the village where she grew up. She marries Danny, the baker’s son, and the two lead simple lives and live in peace for the rest of their days…
How to Trigger:
Choose this option when you talk to the oracle at the Sun Shrine in Aveyond after defeating Ahriman.

Ending number three:
Rhen chooses to live by herself in Devin’s cottage in the forest after defeating Ahriman
Description:
After defeating Ahriman, Rhen yearns for a peaceful life, and goes to live alone in Devin’s cottage. Living quietly there, she ages away in self-isolation, and no one ever hears from her again.
How to Trigger:
Choose this option when you talk to the oracle at the Sun Shrine in Aveyond after defeating Ahriman.

Ending number four:
Rhen chooses to go back to Thais and become successor to the throne after defeating Ahriman
Description:
Rhen chooses to head back to Thais with Dameon after defeating Ahriman, finally having the courage and determination to make known her status as princess and successor to the throne. She marries Dameon (who of course becomes King of Thais), and the two live happily ever after. The people of Thais also live in bliss and peace under the successful reign of Rhen and Dameon. (note: this is the ideal ending for the game. You even get to see Rhen in a wedding dress, with a fancy new hairstyle!!)
How to Trigger:
Choose this option when you talk to the oracle at the Sun Shrine in Aveyond after defeating Ahriman.

That’s it! This is the end of the story for Rhen, but you could always replay the game to try out all the different alternatives, as well as to complete all the side quests!! And Aveyond version 2.0 is scheduled to be released in July 2006!! Woo hoo!! Oh! And if you haven’t played Ahriman’s Prophecy, then what are you waiting for? Download it for free at www.amaranthia.com!! We sincerely hope you enjoyed the game. Don’t forget to check out the other portions of this walkthrough as well!! XD

(If we have made any errors, or have left out any major portions for this section, please contact either of the writers and we’ll make the necessary changes or edits. Thank you!! ^_^ )

Below is a list of the extra stuff you can do or encounter when you have a manor, i.e. if you had bought it in Sedona (Please refer to side quests guide for more details on this):

• Extra scene with Te’ijal and Galahad in the dining room

• Hear Lars apologize to Rhen for having been such a jerk

• Have Pirate John flirt with Rhen

• See Lars’ hatred for “low-class pirates and rogues” (guess he didn’t really change a lot after all, eh?)

• Get Rhen to try to improve Dameon’s relationship with Talia

• Buy pets (bats, cats, dogs, tiger, etc.) from places like New Witchwood, Sedona, and Veldt, and watch them hang out in your manor.

- You must have recruited both party members
- Head to the Necromancer’s shop in Veldarah after recruiting both party members and let Te’ijal purchase the soul pendant

- Head over to Thais, enter the church and marry them

• To marry Elini and Pirate John:
- You must have recruited both party members

- Give the magic kettle to the alchemist and in return you will receive a love potion
- Use the love potion
- Head over to Thais and enter the church

XVII. Glitches and Reported Bugs [gltcbgs]


Here’s a list of some of the reported glitches and bugs as well as some possible solutions to them. Please note that not all glitches can be solved easily so if you encounter a problem you cannot resolve, you might want to consider sending your savegame to Amanda Fae so that she can fix your game for you. Thank you!

GLITCHES AND BUGS

• Problem with Skudder

Glitch description:
- The Skudder is stuck on the Veniara Islands, the one where Marge and Pirate John are on, but whenever one tries to teleport there by runes, one will end up on the island where the pirates’ black market is. No matter what one does, the Skudder cannot be boarded, even if it appears on the map.
Solutions/comments:
- Download the patch from www.amaranthia.com to fix this, or load a previous save and pray it will not happen again. >_<

• Price of Crossbow bugged

Glitch description:
- Crossbow costs zero golden pennies
Solutions/comments:
- A price glitch. Download the patch from www.amaranthia.com to fix this.

• Problems with doors in Rootwell

Glitch description:
- Doors in Rootwell – Cannot enter/exit
Solutions/comments:
- Try going in/out from all directions, at the same time remaining within around one grid from the center of the opening of the door. If this doesn’t work, try to walk further away and enter from a distance. You can also try to exit the current screen, then re-entering the screen again.

• Problems with Mule Express (contributed by xoona)

Glitch description:
- The snow storm from the Northern Isle carries over to Aveyond if one takes the Mule Express to Aveyond.
Solutions/comments:
- Go into a building and then go back out (or ensure there is a change in screen). The snow should go away.

• Problems with Mule Express 2

Glitch description:
- The Mule Express is supposed to bring the party to wherever the party has been before, but at times this doesn’t work, for example in the case of Ghed’ahre.
Solutions/comments:
- Download the patch available on www.amaranthia.com, then place it in your Aveyond directory and the problem should already be solved the next time you open your file.

• Problems with Nightingale side-quest (by Roxana on amaranthia.com forums)

Glitch description:
- The birdseed cannot be obtained, Lars does not make any response to the nightingale although the bird cage and Empress’ request are already obtained.
Solutions/comments:
- Check that the side quest concerning the militant squirrels (Brumwich) has already been completed. For more information on this side quest, please refer to the side quests guide. Then try to advance with this side quest again. If it still doesn’t work, you’ll have to try again by loading a previous game save.
- Make sure that you have already purchased the Skudder, if not this will not work

TECHNICAL PROBLEMS/ERRORS

• End Of File Error (from www.amaranthia.com forums)

Error description:
- An error code that appears as: “Script 'Scene_Load' line 97: EOFError occurred. End of file reached”
Solutions/comments:
- Possibility of a corrupted save file. Send your game save to admin@amaranthia.com , to Amanda Fae for her to fix it for you.

• Sound and Music Problem(from www.amaranthia.com forums)

Error description:
- There are sound effects to be heard but the music cannot be heard.
Solutions/comments:

Solution 1 (from jvallott):
Download and install the latest WMA codec from Microsoft for free. Aveyond uses WMAs (Windows Media Audio files) for music. Every computer with Windows ships with WMA support, but you may have an older version of the WMA codec that won't support Aveyond's WMA. To fix this, get the newest WMA codec.

To get the latest WMA codec:
1. Go to the Windows Media Download Center center.
2. In the Select Download drop-down list, select Windows Media Encoder.
3. In the Select Version drop-down list, select Windows Media Encoder 9 Series.
4. Download and install the codec for your operating system.
5. Restart your computer.
6. Play Aveyond!

Solution 2 (from amaranth):
Make sure that BGM is turned on in the game. To check:
1. Open Aveyond.
2. Click F1.
3. Make sure that the BGM checkbox is marked.

• Game constantly crashes(from www.amaranthia.com forums)

Error description:
- Game crashes
Comments:
- If your game is crashing, there is probably something installed on your computer that is causing a conflict with the Aveyond sound engine or graphics engine.
To find out exactly what's causing the problem, do this:

1. Open Aveyond and play until the game crashes
2. If a default error message is displayed, email it to Amanda Fae at: admin@amaranthia.com
3. If a Microsoft error reporting dialog box opens, click on the link called "To see what data this error report contains, click here".
4. Copy the value in the "Error Signature" field and paste it into an email for Amanda Fae.
5. At the bottom of the dialog box, click on the link called "To view technical information about the error report, click here".
6. Copy the information in the "Exception Information" and "System Information" text boxes and paste it into an email for Amanda.
7. Send Amanda the email with these things and she will try to find the root of the problem, followed by the appropriate solution.

• Game constantly crashes 2(from www.amaranthia.com forums)

Error description:
- Game crashes with this given error message:
"Error signature
AppName: aveyond.exe AppVer:1.0.0.1 MdName: mmswitch.ax
ModVer: 0.9.9.0 Offset: 00001b30”
Comments:
- A program called Morgan Stream Switcher (MSS) is crashing Aveyond. MSS is a Plug-in that lets you to switch audio streams using Windows Media Player 6x-9. Several companies bundle MSS with their software, and sometimes, the software doesn't install properly and can cause problems with media.

Proposed Solutions
• The first thing to do is to install the latest version of MSS from their site (free): http://www.morgan-multimedia.com/download/mmswitch.exe. After you've done this, load up Aveyond and see if the game crashes.
• If the game still crashes, uninstall MSS and then run the game again. If this fixes the problem, it is suggested that one should not use MSS. It is possible to find similar programmes to download from the Internet to replace MSS.

If there are any other glitches/bugs you encountered/know of that is not listed here, please e-mail either of us and we will put it up here with credits given to you. Thank you! ^_^

XVIII. FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) [faqz]


This section contains frequently asked questions that are seen all the time in the Aveyond hints and tips forums, or other forums regarding Aveyond. We’ve picked these out for people who did not bother to read the other components of the walkthrough word for word, so there will be some repeated information here.

** WARNING: THIS SECTION CONTAINS SPOILERS. **

Q. The free trial for Aveyond is supposed to last for 10 hours, but in actual fact it’s less/more than 10 hours! Why is this so?
A. The time trial actually lasts for 15 hours although it is stated that the trial lasts for 10 hours. Think of it as a gift from Amanda. As for the game lasting less than 10 hours, this is because the time is calculated in the form of real time, not the game time. For example, if you keep loading a save of your game because of some reason or another, then the amount of game you cover will be relatively less although the game time in the save is less than 10 hours.

Q. Where do I get goodies and how do I use them?
A. To download the goodies, go to www.amaranthia.com, click on Goodies under Other Downloads on the left navigation bar. Please note that some of the listed goodies are for Ahriman’s Prophecy so look closely before downloading. After downloading the goodies, move the save files in the goodies to your Aveyond directory, i.e. where you saved your Aveyond game on your pc. Be careful, as some of the goodies may overwrite your original savegame if you happen to have saved your game in particular save slots. Our advice would be to make copies of your savegame elsewhere before trying out the goodies in your game. Or you can rename your savegames for reference (for instance ‘EnteringVeldarah.rxdata’ ). That way, you can easily find which savegame to load later if you want to go back to a particular place/time. Of course, you’ll have to rename your file again to load it (Save1.rxdata, Save2.rxdata, Save3.rxdata, or Save3.rxdata).

Q. Aveyond v2.0…?
A. Aveyond version 2.0 will be released in July 2006. This version includes more mini games, optional bosses as well as an online chatting system. Further details are not yet released but do frequent www.amaranthia.com for latest news and updates.

Q. Who are the returning characters from Ahriman’s Prophecy in Aveyond?
A. Well, Devin and Talia, of course, and also Ahriman, as well as Hilda from the original Witchwood in Ahriman’s Prophecy. (bet most of you missed THAT! okay, okay, she may not be THAT Hilda, but they have got the same name, so maybe it isn’t a coincidence…). Sadly, you will not get to see Alicia (since she’s obviously dead) nor any other party member you had in AP. (FRED!!!! JACK!!!!!! T_T )

Q. Can I marry people in the church in Thais?
A. Yes, you can. You can marry Te’ijal to Galahad, and also Elini to Pirate John. For more details, please refer to the Miscellaneous section.

Q. Can I marry anyone other than the two couples stated above?
A. Nope, sadly, you can’t… only two pairs and that’s it (unless you choose the Thais ending to marry Dameon and Rhen, of course, that’s the only other pair that can be married in the game, but technically they’re married in the palace and not the church. And you don’t get to prepare for that marriage yourself and…. Oh well … -_- )

Q. Why won’t Talia stay in Aveyond?
A. She will follow the party around until you help her find Devin, a long-lost friend and the male lead of Ahriman’s Prophecy. When you have found Devin, who is residing in a cottage in the Wildwood Forest, they will automatically leave you and go to Aveyond.

Q. How do I graduate from the Shadwood Academy?
A. You need to do a heroic act. For more details, refer to the side quests guide.

Q. A NPC told me that there is a plague in Dirkon and it is unsafe to go there. So do I stay away from there until later, or what?
A. Come on, you’re fighting to save the world, how can you be stopped by a plague? Head right over to Dirkon and check things out for yourself!

Q. Do you give Lionel to the thieves or the elves?
A. Refer to the side quests guide for full details.

Q. How do I get the Dreamer’s Tear?
A. For details on this, please refer to the side quests guide.
Q. How do I recruit Elini?
A. To recruit Elini, you must go to Aveyond and talk to the Oracle, after graduating from the Shadwood Academy. (Don’t forget to buy and equip the Priestess Ring, talk to the Talia and the Empress, and get Lars before going to Aveyond.) There are many rumours as to the level at which Elini will accept your invitation to join your party. However all these are unreliable. The truth is, she will join you only if you trigger the plot, regardless of your level.

Q. How do I recruit Te’ijal?
A. First, you need to save the Druid of Darkness, Rashnu. Bring him back to Aveyond and when he gives you the choice to two treasures in the underground treasury, pick the sunblock. Now head over back to Ghed’ahre and Te’ijal will be able to join your party. (luvly_hui: Te’ijal rocks!! She rocks!! SHE’S THE BEST!!!!! XD )

Q. How do I recruit Galahad?
A. Visit the thieves’ hideout in the caves near Sedona. Head over to the palace in Sedona to trigger a side-quest, in which the king will be in danger. Galahad will join you temporarily, and then permanently when you have completed the side quest.

Q. How do I recruit Mad Marge?
A. Talk to her after recruiting Pirate John. She will join you for a fee. If you want her in your party, then simply hire her and pay her for her services (not that she’s a really useful character though).

Q. How do I recruit Pirate John?
A. First, complete the Empress’ Nightingale side quest (refer to side quests guide). You will get a dragon bridle as a reward. Put it on the dragon, which is in a cave on the Southern Isle, then go back to Veniara Island to free Pirate John from the prison. Rhen and co will have no choice but to set him free, since he is a rare dragon rider and his strength is definitely a welcome boost to your party’s strength.

For more information on this, please refer to tiniponi’s specific guide through this link: http://www.amaranthia.com/modules/ipboard/index.php?showtopic=5860

Q. How do you get the dragon?
A. First, complete the Empress’ Nightingale side quest. (please refer to the side quests guide for details) In return, you will receive a dragon bridle. Put that onto the dragon, then head over to Veniara Islands (the bigger one). Now, free Pirate John, let him join your party, and then you’ll be able to access dragon-riding. (Woo hoo!!)

Q. How do you get to Thais?
A. The first time through you’ll have to be able to access dragon-riding first. When you have done so, fly to the Northern area, it’s the patch of land with the grand castle.

Q. How do you get to Mysten Far?
A. You can buy traveling runes to Mysten Far from Thais (to be verified). If you fly there using your dragon, it’s to the northeast of Thais.

Q. Where is the Sword of Silence?
A. In a chest in the Ice Caves of the Northern Isle.

Q. Can Rhen learn the spells from purchased magic scrolls like how Lars does?
A. No. The spells are only meant for Sorcerers, and so only Lars can learn the spells from such scrolls.

Q. Is Galahad the only one whose soul can be captured by the soul pendant?
A. Yes. But live with it, don’t you think the Galahad-Te’ijal pairing is like, just SO cute??

Q. How many treasure maps can I get in the game?
A. Three.

Q. I only found 1 (or 2) treasure map(s) so far. Where can I find the other(s)?
A. You can get one from Lamp Chop in Teacup Town, the other two can be found in Thais and Veldt respectively.

Q. How do you uncurse Ejindro?
A. For more information on this, please refer to the side quests guide.

Q. Where can I find a ghost to haunt the vampress’ house in Ghed’ahre?
A. Refer to the side quests guide on how to find the ghost. By the way, if you have staked that vampress, you will not be able to complete this side quest.
Q. Where can I find a piece of artwork for the art dealer in Sedona?
A. Please refer to the side quests guide for information on this.

Q. How do you get the shovel?
A. Head over to New Witchwood and talk to Gretchen to trigger a side quest. Eventually you will get a shovel. For full details, please refer to the side quests guide.

Q. Where do I find birdseed?
A. Please refer to the side quests guide for details on this.

Q. Where is Tiny?
A. Please refer to the side quests guide for details on this.

Q. Where can you find a goose?
A. Please refer to the side quests guide for details on this.

Q. What are the red slippers for?
A. Please refer to the side quests guide for details on this.

Q. What does the dizzy doll do?
A. During combat, it allows you to cast berserk on a single enemy with a relatively high chance.

Q. What do the Winged Boots do? Do they work like the Winged Boots in Ahriman’s Prophecy?
A. Nope, there is no practical use for the Winged Boots although you can equip it. Think of it as a memento from Ahriman’s Prophecy.

Q. What does the pirate sail do?
A. It changes the colour of your sail to black. No practical use.

Q. What does the ruby ring do?
A. Nothing. Its only value is money.

Q. What does the golden egg do?
A. You can sell it for cash, but it doesn’t do anything special.

Q. What does the Cloak of Undying Loyalty do?
A. It allows you to capture various monster enemies to enhance your party’s powers.

Q. How does the Cloak of Undying Loyalty work?
A. Use the cloak to capture monsters during combat. Lars will have a skill he can use which is something like Soul Steal. Use it on your target monster. If you succeed, you will see the captured monster in your main menu after the battle. Success rates are random so if you cannot get it on your first try, continue experimenting.

Q. Where is the Sword of Dreams?
A. In a chest in the Dreamworld, in Mysten Far. From where you arrive, head in the western direction. You should arrive at a cave, and in it will be the chest containing the Sword of Dreams.

Hi pinkkoolkatroc, thanks. I just wanted to mention that all the tables you see ARE pictures. It took me days to transfer and crrop everything from the pdf to this thread, because tables don't show up properly on threads. I didn't do it alone, there were tons of other people who helped me. So kudos to them, not me.

Have fun in the forums and good luck with the games. Also feel free to explore the other forums. Most importantly, weelcome.

I'll cya around then.
