Weird. TDP should work perfectly fine on Windows XP. Are you getting any error message?

The game is supposed to work just fine on Windows XP. What exactly isn't working?

Where did you get the game from?

Downloaded from your web site

After you reinstalled the game, did you get the same error message?

Also, are your drivers all up to date?

No, there is support. We just have to figure out the problem. When you reinstalled the game, did you uninstall the older version first? If you didn't, then try to uninstall the game and reinstall it.


Lastly, please don't double post. Just use your edit your button to add extra information.

Does it actually have C:\C:\ in that error message? I wonder if that's the problem.

If you go to %appdata% in Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) does it put you in the Roaming subfolder? If it doesn't and you can see a Roaming subfolder, go into that. Then create a folder called Aveyond 3, and in that, create a folder called Chapter 4.

Now see if you can play the game.

I'm not sure why, but it's crashing while trying to create your save data folders.


You could also try setting it to run in XP Compatibility Mode, to see if that fixes the issue.

Hi, I use Windows XP Service Pack 3 (just like elf_baby), and all the Aveyond Games work just fine for me.

There is no Roaming folder in XP. My Aveyond 3 saves are in the folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\[censored]\Application Data\Aveyond 3

I've never had a problem writing save files to folders in this directory. I install and play games when logged in as the same user. There are other folders on my computer that belong to other users. I cannot write to those. I wonder if that is elf-baby's trouble?

I'm sorry, I have no idea what you're trying to say here. Are you having troubles with a game? If so, which game, and what is the issue? You'll need to give us details before we can help you.

Where did you get them all from?

We have lots of players still on XP who don't have issues. When you say "not work" what do you mean - do you get an error message? Does the game fail to open? We can only help you if you give us more information about what's actually going wrong.

perhaps your antivirus is acting up? can you check if your antivirus/scanner is blocking the program. If so, you'll need to make an exception for AV.

How do I change the file to read

Which file are you trying to change? Or are you trying to make an exception like KTC suggested? If you are, then you'll need to say what antivirus program you're using.
