I think the last crashed because of either a DDoS attack, or the fact that Amanda doesn't really backup the servers and if they end up failing everything goes down the drill.

Might as well be a total revamp though.

And for the others..I really don't remember. @.@

Denial of Service attack. It's when someone attacks a site and shuts it down. It's been in the news recently.

Well, I think it's what's been happening. Amaranthia has had that a few times, along with other minor attacks..remember June 20 2006, when all of the forums and topics were spammed with guests posting for mexican doctor products? ^^

i was not here for that. i didnt even have an account back then. i joined jan 9th 2011. so i didnt see that. i barely knew amaranthia exsisted back then because i had been playing arcade town and msn games (aveyond was the main one).

@aveyond06: i remember that. It was why registration was required for the forums. Before that, guests could post.

now a days you need to talk to amanda or any of the mods/adimns to post (i had seen that below that you cant post without permission). but part of my question isnt answered about how the site crashed 2-3 times.

No, princess that isn't true. You don't need to talk to the admins or mods to post. As long as you're a registered member, you can post.

A bit off topic, but, is anyone else getting blocked by their antivirus (the link to the old site, I mean)? I finally just clicked on the link to proceed anyway, but it's really weird that the old site is blacklisted as an attack site
(In fact, a lot of sites I try to access through the wayback archives are listed as attack sites! Hm- it could just be Norton being weird).
But back on topic, really interesting to see the progression of the site! I've been a fan of the screenshot backgrounds since I discovered the site.

can you post the screen shots of the old sites? im a little scared to because my computer is really old and i dont want to risk another crash.

It's just Norton. I suggest investing in a better Anti-Virus program.

I'm not able to go on anything besides AM and some other sites, so I'll have to check it out when I visit my dad's house.

@Mopiece: Why does everyone make Norton sound so horrible? Honestly, it's a very good program. I'd rather have a program that's too cautious than one that's too lenient. But, hey, I guess I'm the only one.. ._.

Because Norton is a horrible program. It doesn't catch that many viruses. And it usually causes more trouble than stops trouble. You're better off with a different program.

@Mopiece: I've never experienced a single issue with Norton. My dad has it on his computer, and honestly, it's kept his computer safe for years. And yet, my mom has tried just about everything except Norton, and has gotten multiple viruses which have caused her to lose important pictures and documents. So, I can't agree with your comment saying that "Norton is a horrible program".

Well now I think I should use it when ever I want to see the old sites.
