Somewhere, I have an afghan that I'm stitching with various Harry Potter motifs. I want to make it into a wallhanging when I'm done. Had to set it aside, though, because all the black was getting to me. Maybe I'll pull it back out to work on here and there.

Anybody knows how the heck do I create charts from manga images? If I use the same method as the photo charts, I always get this annoying grey blurs from the outlines.

@Bloom21 - I know it's been a while since you posted your pics, but those really are beautiful!

I've done a bit more knitting. Not so much in the cross-stitch, though. I've done a lace top, some basic house socks, and a black shawl that I am very much in love with, if I do say so myself.




Right now, I've got a diagonal scarf I'm working on in a self-striping yarn (gotta love those!!) of turquoise and lime green. Sounds kinda garish, but it actually is very pretty. They are the favorite colors of a good friend of mine, so it'll be a holiday present for her. I'll post when it's finished.

Oh, and socks for my nephews. One of them wants bright purple and green. I like the colors together, but the shades he picked out are a little too vibrant for me. But he's the one who will be wearing them, so I'll knit them.

I'm amazed to people who can sit for long, knitting. I tried knitting, it's a disaster for me. Here is something though that I can bare doing for a long amount time.




It's papercrafts, but I prefer doing them on cardstock. I don't trust my hands yet on papers.

@elonah - I usually pop in a movie to watch while I'm knitting, so it isn't too bad.

Those paper crafts are amazing! You certainly are talented. The best I can do with papercrafts is to make little boxes from greeting cards.

The Nutmeg Company

I've looked at them before, but haven't ordered any kits or charts, mainly because of the international shipping thing (I'm in the US), but some of those cottages look adorable. Anyone else used them?

My grandmother-in-law made all kinds of 3D cross-stitch stuff like that, including favors for our wedding. The base material was a plastic grid, and you'd wind the yarn through it to make the design.

My grandmother used to do something like that, as well. These are done on fabric, then stitched to the plastic canvas for stability.

Just looked on Amazon and found a book written by the woman at Nutmeg. That'll make for some fun diversion this winter.

My wife can crochet without looking at what she is doing. Once you get a good start, it's just repeat, repeat, repeat, so your hands just take over.

@elonah - As long as it isn't some intricate stitch (like a complicated lace I have to count repeats on), no, I don't have to look at my needles. Like Argoyle said, it just takes practice.

Craft club? Yay! I draw a lot, I just haven't gotten around to uploading many...oh, and I also do dolling!




In order of creation, the ones on the right being created earlier. I made most of these a couple of months ago, haven't really done much dolling since. Oh, all of those bases are by Ninique.

On second thought, I don't really like papercrafting. My desk is a huge mess of junk, and I have no place to display them. If I make them, they'll probably end up dying from being squashed by random stuff.

I'd rather make plushies!
