imo burning bibles = not good as not all christians are bad. It just the homophobic, arrogant, pompous, bigoted, idiots who unfortunately are also really dang loud. Very annoying.

The gay friendly churches (some even allow marriage in their places!) and churches with female priests are generally much more inviting and christian than the ones who shove the devil in your face. Those christians are awesome.

Any religion (or really, any ideal) can be twisted for evil ends. See 9/11, crusades, suicide bombers, social darwinism, HIV denialists like Peter douchberg [gnashes teeth], and stephanie meyers for details. (kidding about the last one....mostly)

Yeah well religion as a whole should be forsaken. I've known awesome priests but sadly enough they end up shunned or cast aside to make way for the bigots. Works mainly for the Christians, but France has a problem with people forcing people to wear veils and the like as well. The job might be easier done with a ban on faith.

I'm all for having no more religion. But it's sadly near impossible to achieve without massive slaughter of religious people. Be pretty much like another 'crusade' and those never worked out.

As a Christian, it's a little insulting that you're talking about getting rid of religion altogether. My beliefs are important to me; why should I have to give them up just because some people take theirs too far? I'm totally for gay rights, women's rights, all that jazz. That seems pretty tolerant to me.

Add on the incredibly annoying religion interfering with politics going on despite separation of church and state and well, I'm not feeling very tolerant of religions right now. Perhaps if religion stops interfering with politics, when god leaves the pledge of allegiance and our money bills, and/or when people stop trying to shove their religion down my throat I'd stop being bitter/resigned about religion.

Do I realize that generalizing is a bad thing? Yes. But that's not gonna change anytime soon, not when I have been doing it for years and to various groups, some unconsciously and others not. Intellectually, I understand the concept of being "non judgemental" but in practice, you can bet I'd be rather skittish/less open/actively avoiding certain people/discussions.

Just because you're tired of being the "bigger man", doesn't change the fact that it's incredibly rude and hurtful to be grouped together with the kind of people who protest funerals.

We all judge at some point; that's not unexpected. But when one repeatedly and blatantly groups together two completely different types of people simply based on one correlation, it's a bit on the rude side, wouldn't you agree?

Especially when all those factions that are apparently one group are then told by someone else that they shouldn't exist and that their beliefs are "wrong." I may not believe what you believe, but I accept it and I respect it. And I am glad that there are people like you in the world and that there are people like me in the world; how boring would it be if everyone were the same? I love diversity. I don't love prejudice and I don't love blind hate (or any hate at all, for that matter).
