On Rock Paper Shotgun they did a poll of what classes people were playing in Skyrim and the result placed warriors as #1 followed very closely by mages.
In the world of RPGs it is pretty common that we end up with a favorite class, the archetype we always end up enjoying the most. For me it depends on the setting. In a futuristic setting (Fallout, Shadowrun, ect.) I always opt for anything that causes a huge explosion. Grenades, rocket launchers, landmines, TNT, doesn't matter how it happens just as long as it makes my speakers vibrate. In a fantasy setting I always opt for the "more brawns than brains" warrior or barbarian. Smash it with a giant axe, if it survives more than one hit I will worry about it. So what's your favorite?

Aveyond's Swordsinger. Rhen has strong melee AND Magic skills. It's awesome.
Then again, I haven't played that much RPGs, so maybe there's a similar class out there that I just haven't encountered yet. I dunno.

I tend to be a fan of mages. But I -hate- healers. Give me a magic wielder who has offensive spells, and I am a happy Ashen. ^^

I love me some magicians/archers. One of my party members in FFIII is a black mage with bows and arrows. Needless to say, he's one of my faves. *o*
I'm not very skilled with classes that rely on brute strength usually, but I don't hate them. What I can't stand, though, are healers. After all, there's no need for healers when you have such a strong offense that the enemies are gone in moments~

So you aren't a spoony bard, Fool?
![]() I like magic and think they are the strongest fighters because of their skill. No party of mine is complete without a healer (preferably a multi-skilled one) as my party will not survive without one. Brute force characters bore me, no strategy, no interest, though they are necessary. Archers are so weak that if I have to have them, I'll keep them to a minimum.

The Hunter Class in 'Eden Eternal' is pretty awesome. Besides using the bow as main weapon (which is my favourite), you can summon animals who help you fight and keep the monster at a distance, so you suffer no harm at all.
![]() Besides that I like Healers/Clerics (though they should have at least one offensive attack) and Gunners (thanks to Disgaea 2). As for Warrior vs Mage, I'd pick Warrior. Simply, because Mage's HP is low and their range (in Disgaea) is small as well. And anyway, I'm more of a 'just hit it and hope it's dead'-type when I play RPGs. :3

I usually stick with the warriors, since they are easier to command, and can deal some damage without mana supply. But using mage also give me the fun, when seeing them use unique spells.
Healers are tolerable, but I use them at the most minimum, as long as I can use potions instead. Well, about archer. I like the agility, if I play the hero directly. But it's quite a no when I play RPGs like Aveyond.

warriors (duh, look at my guild lol) cuz I love smashing things with a big weapon.
Archers are generally weak unless you play dragon age. Than they are one of the most overpowered class in the whole game. Pump Dexterity up = you're untouchable by all except magic attacks. Magic: it's tolerable but I don't like them cuz they tend to be glass cannons. Physically weak (only last a few hits) and a couple of big spell hits. I almost always have a healer somewhere since potions tend to be scarce in my games. Cheaper to leech of a healer than to keep buying potions.

I don't really like any class:
My favorite class musrt have some kind of magic, meaning they probably have a terrible defense, or you need to cast defensive spells, meaning you can't attack. Anyways, they always need some kind of tactic. I am a lazy player, and probably the worst rpg player as well, since I always just use my strongest attack, and am too lazy to use any items or defensive spells, thus making my mages DIE DIE DIE. I really like RPG games like oblivion where you can train all kinds of skills, so you can have a mage with and nice magic atacks, and a good defense :p

I think one of the reasons many people play warrior, is because it's the "default" character and usually easiest to play.
At first the game might look intimidating with all the options and stats, so many people prefer to choose the warrior. I know I usually choose the warrior because I don't want to start optimizing my character at a first play.

I love the healer class in Everlong. They can hurt, they can make others hurt more, slow the enemy, make our allies stronger and use shields

In any RPG games (online or just system games) I normally love characters that have agility or dexterity. Especially if they can steal items, because I love treasure and money, whatever currency the game uses. So, my normally preferred class is Thief.
![]() Other then that, normally a Hunter or Archer. It might be true about playing roles of something we aren't, since I'm really slow (and am constantly being told so - even to this day) in real life. Might be why I always seem to seek out the most agile person in a game (sometimes even unconsciously doing it...).BUT, sometimes I also like to experiment with different characters. While my main class would be Thief, or if I usually play a specific character, I like to change it up often and try out other characters or other classes. I adjust to them quite quickly too.![]()

I like bards that can do magic, play for food, fight, and convince other strong players to join the party.
I also like characters with multi person attacks- they really help when you encounter several enemies at once.

I only like bards cuz Leliana, bisexual religious thief from Dragon Age, was one. She's awesome *fanboy squeal of delight*
Course, DA bards are more like sophisticated spies who routinely seduce and backstab (physically and/or verbally) their prey.

I go for more of the magician/archer types. I enjoy magic in RPG games. Especially Rhen's sword singer. But I also have a fascination for the bow and arrow.

For me, it depends. If I can control my characters exactly, including how they move and such, I'll usually go for a tough long range character, or a really fast close range character (like Reimi or Meracle in Star Ocean: The Last Hope).
In games like Aveyond, I generally stick with offensive spell casters, and really tough warriors, like Rhen. If there's a lot of damage dealt, I like the class.

I'll go with Magician if it comes to RPG. I always get curious with what spell will they learn next lol. Just like when I played Aveyond 2 with Iya as Singer.
