In effort that we learn a bit about the various animals and places where fellow Amaranthians live, I thought I'd start a "Show Us" thread with photos of wild animals in your area.

Now, I know... we've all various versions of wild pets...



And if that's the animals you have... that's great... but let's also add a bit of a story/description with them as common animals to you might be entirely unknown to others:




A baby pelican landed on the dock in front of Amanda and I recently... it had no fear as we walked within one meter of it!

For privacy sake, you can state what city or general area where you spotted the animal, but please be careful not to expose any personal information.

So, guys... let's see those animals!

Where I live, we have a lot of of critters in our backyard. However, we mainly see these guys.

I have to say, it's rather impressive to be 89F at midnight!

On the subject of the pesky... I've a new one for you... this guy whom swooped in on our lunch the other day!

Is.. that a crow? It looks too light to be one.

Have not managed to snap pics of local wildlife yet. Well, there's ducks, but they kinda sit around in the park pond all the time.

Does it count if I post pictures of animals I saw while on a trip?

Definitely not a crow. I can say from personal experience of crow attacks

I'm not sure what it is... but as "theone" recognized... it's not a crow.

We have names for them... but this is a family site so I'll keep those comments to myself.

I do have another bird that's a bit more recognizable:



This dove comes by the house quite regularly... I see him sitting on our railing.

Thankfully he's yet to come in and try to lift my dinner from me.

So you don't think we've only birds... we've sea life nearby as well.

I took this photo about 40 kilometers south of our home... yes, in the Pacific... it wasn't flying

Me and my friends found this poor raccoon dead in the middle of the street a few months ago.




We dragged it to the sidewalk and left it there. The street cleaners should know what to do with it

I'm afraid if we had such wildlife it would end up like the poor raccoon above.

I'll have to take some more photos tomorrow... but no chance it'll be a deer!

Not much local wildlife here except the regular doggies, pigeons in the morning, and crows all day. There are also sparrows, and the occasional Common Myna (which are supposed to bring good luck o.o) but I don't have pictures of them..yet!

Wow amazing! I don't see much wild life where I'm at. I do seeloose dogs coming to my yard frequent to bark at the house (Yea my dog is what they are trying to bark at).

I wish I had pictures of the rabbit that took up residence in my kitchen.

Unfortunately I moved mere days before this thread came up... and I didn't think to take pictures b/c it's my friend's rabbit... we even had makeshift doggy doors to keep her in until she got old enough. (edit: Would that still have counted? I just remembered there's also a pet thread)

I would say it counts if your friend isn't planning on keeping the bunny as a pet.

Well I think we had a few wild ones outside but I hadn't seen them in a while since I wasn't walking around outside in the early morning/late night as much any more.

My current place only has squirrels.

Wow... wild boar!

We used to have such animals where I once lived, but not where I live today.

The only problem I found wiht boar was that they would not keep out of the traffic and sometimes ended up looking like that racoon shown earlier.

You all take some great pictures. I am away from home right now, but there are some amazing cranes walking around that I will have to find with the camera.

We have peregrine falcons living right in the middle of our city! There are nest boxes set up on different buildings and many cameras to watch them interact, court, and raise young.
Right now there are a couple different males and females in the same area, which always ends up with territorial battles, until one couple wins the area.
