I made my first character for the game, but when I playtest, I see part of its feet on top of the character. What am I doing wrong?

Sounds like you don't have your character sheet set up properly. If you divide it evenly into 4 rows and 4 columns, I'm guessing your sprites will be too low and their feet will partly be in the cell below.

The Looseleaf character generator makes sprites for XP. That means if you're using them in VX and they work, you must have edited the sprite after saving. When you deleted the first column, did you leave the height of the image as it was?

Why don't you post the file? Maybe we can figure it out, when we see it.

Upload it on a site like photobucket, or imageshack and then put the URL of it like this:

You can also try to rename the file with a $ before the name, like $chara. Looseleaf generator makes character bigger than vx, so I suppose it's normal that it shows some part. With $ you should solve the problem of the size.

Can you post your image? That'd make the process a whole lot easier

From my understanding of sprites in the VX engine. There sprite sheets are set up in files that have 8 sprites, so eight sprite sheets (random link example: http://ajmm68.deviantart.com/art/RPG- ... ustom-Sprites-1-141395324)
Like you see in the link above right, maybe if you set up a whole sprite sheet so that it fits with the sizes of the lose leaf sprites, so 4 sprites on top and 4 on bottom (different sprite sheets) Maybe that will help.

No, that won't help, unfortunately. If it WERE the problem, there would be different symptoms (the character would only show a part of the character sprite).
VX and VX Ace can both use sprite sheets with a single character (by putting a $ at the start of the file name) or with 8.

okay, just looking at that, your image is 95x191 pixels. Neither of these dimensions is correct. The width (95) should be divisible by 3, and the height (191) should be divisible by 4. 96x192 would be correct, so it MAY just be that you need to add an extra pixel to the bottom and to one side, though I'm not sure if it would be the right or the left.
If you got it from looseleaf, it SHOULD have the correct dimensions (though 4 columns), so all I can assume is that when you removed the first column, you did something that made the dimensions incorrect. Alternatively, how did you save it after creating it in Looseleaf? Did you take a print of the screen then crop away the unwanted area? If so, maybe that is where the image size was changed incorrectly.
