Have anybody ever played a game, just a mini one, called "Snail Mail"?
![]() It's just so, damn hard. T.T And sometimes I got dizzy because of the snail's super fast speed. (Could it even be called a snail? XD)

@binas: Most RPGs go that way these days, especially for RPG Maker-based games.
@KTC: It's still basically 2, KTC The two Japanese comapnies have solid black line plots. Plot is still linear because the sidequests aren't important. The two non-Japanese stuff have COLOURS I.e you have more options.In another news, I just found this "Why I Hate RPGs article by scripter Moonpearl. I think it makes sense and sort of true when it comes to recent RPG Maker games. RPG Maker-based developers can't help but make pretty-much-linear JRPGs. Why? Because it's simpler, it's less confusing to keep track of things, and definitely faster when you don't have to keep track of a massload of elements in the game. Unless they tamper the heck out of the scripts, the interactivity will be limited. To give the players more options story-wise, there's going to be a heck lot of events to keep track of, and it's going to be so much pain to playtest because you have to make sure each "paths" WORK PROPERLY.

Wow, how far removed are you from the gaming universe?
![]() Seriously, the charts lists big-name game companies as "categories". They should be easy to look up Nintendo: Pokemon Square-Enix: Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger Bioware: Mass Effect, Jade Empire Bethesda: The Elder Scrolls (Morrowind, Skyrim)

I just haven't looked up on those. I only make free ware games. I don't really know that edge stuff. I only know how to mess with the engines used to create RPGs (RMXP, RMVX, and RMVX ACE).

@binas
Seriously? You only play RPG Maker games? Just because you don't make complex games doesn't mean you can't play them... Though admittedly, those games listed are mostly kinda hardcore.

What does making freeware games got to do with not knowing those games?
Also, what is "edge stuff"? Those games I talked about are mainstream stuff that almost everyone talks about. Unless nobody in your area plays games like these or you just don't care ![]()

@adept rogue: hardcore? No, most on that list that I've played (never played FF or chrono trigger) are newbie friendly, complete with newbie/casual mode. Only Dragon age from Bioware would definitely require a guide of sorts.
@D_A: Only in the gamer's club would we be debating/discussing a joke chart that I found on tumbler lol.

Nevermind that. I consider any RPG games that's too big to download in a single file hardcore; since it seemed to me that people who enjoy casual gaming don't play those "heavy" games. They'd just download something from BFG or something to enjoy for a short while.

Actually, I believe you could download some of those games as single files if you buy from the official websites
Sides, you can obviously casual game most of the games on the list. That's what causal mode is for lol. Now, if you have something against big company rpg games for being big company rpg games, that's a different story.

Well, I don't buy games from official websites. I download the ripoffs from somewhere else.
And about websites providing single file downloads... it means that you get a game tray downloader, and it will download the 3GB-or-something worth of file size, right?

@ivana: illegal downloads.
@adept_rogue: point being? It's still a single file technically ![]() And casual playing vs hardcore playing is a long debate with no winners lol. Personally, I believe hardcore players are those who get every achievement, master every class, and basically know the game forwards and backwards. May also attempt speedruns. Casual gamers are those who play to complete the game at a leisurely pace not caring if they miss xx sidequest or not. And than there's the ppl between casual/hardcore who are label-less for now lol.

I just never heard of them okay. I play complex games like Bloons Tower Defense 1-5, Aveyond, if I can find that Age of Empires II The Conquers CD that I lent to my sister; I play that too, and other games that build either strategy or entertain me. Other than that I make my games (too bad one of them has a really nasty bug -.-#).

@KTC: LOL, I'm all for achievements too. But I generally don't go for the big games because my poor laptop can't handle it
Does that mean I'm a hardcore casual-gamer? (what that don't make sense derp)@binas: Yes, you don't play many games. Neither do I, so point being? How is Bloon's Tower Defense "complex"? That's like calling, I dunno, Angry Birds a complex game, and that game ain't the least bit complex.

@agas: you'll probably be one of the label-less until I find a term for it or create one XD
I only get achievements if I really like the game or if the achievements give me perks of some kind. @binas: Aveyond is not complex at all and doesn't require much strategy besides "level up and buy/find better equipment." You don't even select stat upgrades for the character - that's all done for you.

Oh. But I do play games like star wars the complete saga (wii) and mario (wii) not that frequent (I tend to go too far ahead of everyone and/or lag behind to collect things). Other than that I am watching stuff on Netflix (save that for another topic).

@KTC Oh. Was checking to make sure if I was right. *checks rules* K, asking or offering ripoffs ain't allowed, but telling everyone you download ripoffs is allowed.
