@Meroko: That sounds terrible! Teachers shouldn't be allowed to do that

Yeah, there should be laws against this stuff. I remember once something like that happened in our school, when I was in 4th grade & it was all over in the newspapers for 3 days, since that girl's dad complained to the police and the media made a madness outta it. The teacher had to go to the court, and she got sued.

3 1/2 days til' summer for me. After summer I start my freshman year. I excel in Math, Science, and Technology (as in maintaining either an A or a B all year long).
And the good news is I was never held back. And here in America it's illegal for a teacher to beat a student now a days (I was never beaten due to this law). But the hips really?! That has gotta hurt. Same with the hands too. How can you sit or write if you got beaten there at school?

here in the central part of india education is NOT GOOD.(literacy rate only 58.60%........so sad to say that)
beating is not illegal here, that is why children do get beaten up pretty often.(mostly in govt. schools).but the children here (of government schools) are SO OBSTINATE.....they won't listen a thing UNTIL they get beaten. and the children here are never scared of their teachers(again.....of govt. school)

@Ivana: Yeah, yeah, I understand you
![]() @Sou: Yup, must agree with that "they-won't-listen-when-the-stick-is-on-the-hips" ![]() And yeah, as far as I know, only government schools do that and since they're not law like you can't do it. But private one prohibit that though.

And also, teachers CAN pinch student's tummy, and you know, pull hair, or hit with hand. <--now this sounds like basic battling ones in AV games like you know Rhen fighting spiders with sticks XD XD

Seriously? O_O
In the Philippines, those acts are considered as child abuse. The next thing teachers here could do as a form of discipline nowadays is (1)throw a chalk, (2)academic or disciplinary failure, (3)send the student to the principal/head/dean, (4)inform the parents, (5) suspension, (6) debarment, (7) expulsion (8) stand up in front of class/semi-humiliation, (9)detention, and (10) level repetition. Note: This is based from my observation.

in Indian private schools, all of those things are done(except detention) along with a little beating.
Note:this is based on my personal observation.

@Stardale: Hey, teachers here do that too. Throws with duster and throw with marker pens, and I'm pretty surprised that they're quite skilled there XD XD

Wow. I am glad I don't live there. I hate getting things thrown at me. It just makes me so mad that my face turns red.

Students being naughty/lazy is another thing, but I believe teachers should still have their professionalism.

Yeah, Ivana has a point. Doing those things to students actually lose their professionalism.

We've just had a listening on English class the other day and there was this one guy who kept speaking in a weird accent. At first I thought it was Scottish or something but it turned out to be Singaporian. God the accent is even more awful than Hong Kong's accent when they speak English >~<

Singlish accent is usually weird because they are also influenced by Malay and other cultural languages. But I think the grammar is worst. Every time I compile/edit my friends' group report, I ended up almost rewriting the whole thing because the English is so appalling.

Ugh, that happens to me too! x_x Writing the whole darn thing for them makes it a lot easier than editing it tbh.
