I have a weird problem. I have this hard drive that I save my school works in, and somehow ANYTHING I save from the school computer would be broken. If I just open the file, nothing's wrong. If I edit and save anything, though, it will be broken whenever I try to reopen it in another computer. I mean, so long as the file don't leave the computer, it's perfectly a-okay. The backups I kept in the computer itself are fine. It's the one that I copy or "save as" to my hard-drive that gets wrecked.
That's what happened when I was having MSWord error last time. It isn't restricted to DOCs, apparently. PSDs, FLAs, images saved from the internet, installers, etc. I wonder if the problem is with the hard drive or the computer. I haven't checked if the same thing happens to a flash drive... Worse yet, some of them are so corrupted they can't even be over-written or erased.

Does it only happen with that computer or is it any computer the harddrive is stuck in?
If so, use a different computer. however, if its the harddrive i'd try reformatting it. It'll get rid of those undeletable files and should reset everything on the drive.

Any computer in the school's lab does that to the files. I probably should to a test with a flash drive to see if it's the computer or the drive that has problems.
I notice that every time I plug my hard drive into the school's computer, it gives me the "drive F has problems. Do you want to scan and repair?" message.

what about computers outside school?
Also, I'd just reformat the harddrive since it's easier to do than try to mess with school computers. I remember a couple harddrives gave me trouble until I just reformatted them and than they worked fine.

Um, Firefox for some reason didn't restore my previous session, and I made the mistake of opening new pages in the somehow-blank session. Is my old session forever gone and dead now?

Odd. I just went to a blogspot site and it's perfectly fine. Sometimes sites go down temporarily. Try restarting the computer and opening the site again.

@An: It's working for me too. Have you tried using another webbrowser to see if it's the same?

An - you are going to have to go up the ladder at google. I found this on Yahoo.com:
"According to Google’s Help Center, this error message appears in a situation when Google detects that a computer on your network is sending automated traffic to Google. There are various reasons as to why your computer is sending automated traffic. These are: It is possible that you are using an application that is responsible for monitors the ranking of a site in Google’s search result. A different machine that shares your IP is unfortunately a part of the botnet. There is a possibility that if you are using Firefox, a Mozilla extension might be sending requests to Google quite frequently. One way to get rid of this issue might be to go for Bing. However if you still wanna use Google’s search engine, then what you can do is try going for a different Google domain. Instead of using www.google.com, you may consider going for www.google.com.pk, www.google.com.uk and so on. Do that and you can say bye bye to the We’re Sorry Error page." --------------------------------------… This is according to Geekword. But, I am not using FireFox or Mozilla, neither of my computers is connected to any botnet, and my computer is definitely NOT automated or trying to send Google and message other than than I want to work on my blog! The obvious answer is that Google has messed up somehow. Source(s): http://www.geekword.net

Superb. Well, as far as I can conclude, we've been having our internet bill more than before from the past 2 months. Maybe someone has got our WiFi password? I'mma gonna go figure out. And if this thing doesn't solve soon, I swear I'll go crazy. -_-

does anyone want to know a really cool trick??
Hide ur folders and turn them into recycle bin! here goes- first,make a new text document in the same directory as the folder(which u want to hide) is. open the text document. type- ren <ur folder name> <ur folder name>.{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} save it as file name-lock.bat. a batch file will appear in the directory.when you'll run it the folder will transform into recycle bin. next, reopen the text doc. now type- ren <ur folder name>.{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} <ur folder name> save it as key.bat when you'll run this file, the folder will be back. please tell me if it worked or not.

@soumyakhanna -
If you bought your computer from a reputable store, it probably came loaded with the OS, so it would not be pirated. XP is pretty old, so I don't know if they are even supporting it anymore with updates.
