Does anyone have any tips for making your own sprites. The actual drawing and coloring part?

Thanks dark archangel, but I meant completely from scratch. I've drawn my dragon (for a special project here)but the sprites I've seen have way more detail (depth) than mine. This is my first attempt to make/draw something on the computer. I am completely at a loss as to what paint shop pro can do. This is all trial and error for me. Any help would be appriciated.

Ally, you can try to get RPGmaker. It's a tool especially made for that.
I just have the link for the French version, but you can find it on the web without problem I guess...
