For those who heard me rant about the kittens in front of my house...

what i didn't mention was, although i developed friendships with the six kittens, i did have a favourite. She was the runt of the litter, white with brown, black and gray splotches. She was a beautiful kitten.

She was the playful one, good one, friendly one.

And she was also the fearless one, which got her into trouble.

It was just this evening at 7.45 PM i went out to play and feed Snowball my rabbit. It was then i noticed the kittens, so i went over and gave them their usual pets and 'hello, how are you sweetie' stuff. The runt rubbed her head against my leg, and for those who do not really llike animals, it may seem like no big deal, maybe a nuisance.

But for me, that small gesture made me feel so... i don't know. It just makes you feel high with love for these little things. So i cuddled her and petted her and crooned to her and went back in.

Here comes the hard part.

My dad came back at 8.15PM and we were preparing dinner and he held my hand and broke the news.

On the way back he saw the runt, dead, on the road.

As usual, being emo old me, i didn't believe him and rushed out from my house. And what i saw horrified me. I felt like ripping my hair out in sorrow. There was my favourite kitten, true to what my dad said, dead, flat with other substances and red things on the road, in front of my neighbour's house.

It wasn't my dad who rolled over it.

You see, it all dawned onto me. Either it was whoever the culprit was' fault or it was the kitten. And let me tell that kitten is one blur thing. She is just not quick enough. Once she was in the garden and my mother splashed some water nearby to scare her off, but you know what she did? She rolled on her back and purred. That was the cutest thing.

SHE COULDN'T SENSE DAnger.

And so she must have played on the road with her siblings and when the car came her siblings ran off as usual and she remained there.

I've seen her. Many are the times i broke out in cold sweat, sighing in relief as she ran away 'last minute'.

This time she isn't lucky.

She's in heaven now, and i'm glad she is a runt no more and in good hands.

My keyboard is wet with tears... believe it, or not. I am already feeling like this for a kitten which isn't even my pet, what more if Snowball...

Aww...poor kitten...I don't know what I was gonna do if this happened to my kittens...

I've stopped crying, but my eyes are really swollen and it's hard to open my eyes. and they're red. she's still out there and i can't bear to look at her. *covers face with hands*

i dont like the sight of dead animals, expecially the most beloved...it must be very hard for you snowbunnies...

Im sorry to hear about it, and hope you will soon feel better. The sad thing about life is that it eventually comes to an end. I know its difficult to deal with...

Ah, Snowy. I'm very sorry for this U_U I understand it must feel very bad *hugs her* It will be better eventually, but it will take some time for the pain to go away u_u

How very sad snowbunnies. It is so hard to see the death o pets we love. Be at ease in the fact that while she was here she knew kindness and love through your heart and hands.

Snowy, at least or a little while the kitten lived a good. It is very sad that she was run over.

Poor kitten . I know almost exactly how you feel; my favorite cat died, too.
It sounds like she was really happy while she was alive, though. and where ever she is right now, she's happy there, too.

I'm really sorry to hear that... One of my cats died while he was hit by a car and was put in a coma(Thankfully, no broken bones)...

I'm sorry snow. It's so hard to loose your pets. Hopefully it makes you feel a little better to know that you gave her a good life while she was on the earth. At least she had someone that loved her.

i'm very sorry snowbunnies...... she has gone to a better place than this cruel cruel world though, and one day you'll get to see her once again...
when i was about three, me and my brother used to look after a litter of stray puppies nearby and they all knew us. one day when we were playing in a nearby park, 3 of the puppies came to visit us (having been there with us often, they knew the way) and as it was getting dark we started towards home... on the way i wanted to pick one of the puppies but it didn't want to be picked up, my brother and cousin kept asking me to leave it alone but as young and stubborn i was; i didn't and so in order to avoid me, the puppy went onto the road and before anyone could do anything, it was hit by a car... i can clearly remember my cousin carrying it in his arms and explaining everything to my mother and me crying by his side, begging them to take it to a vet. and insisting that it was not dead and trying to convince them that it would be totally fine in a while... but actually the pup had died on the spot...
i hope the kitty had a really happy life while it lasted and is just as happy if not more, wherever she is...

when my cat died (actually 2 cats, i loathe that owl!) i made myself feel better by telling myself that cats had 9 lives and that they might be the neighbors new cat.
also (please don't be creeped out!) my bunny died on Halloween...
I also lost a family member to cancer.


my advice is to pinpoint the culprit, and try to prevent it haoppening again with another cat (perhaps a second favorite) although no cat can replace that one, some may come very, very close.

Snowbunnies I'm really sorry the kitten died. When my first cat died I remember I was upset and sad for a long time. Take comfort that she had received some love and cuddles from you before she died.

Snow really sorry 'bout the cat,and I hope you don't think bad of me because I don't really like cats despite their cute wittle faces.

I am going to add a spark of happy ending here. The litter of cats I shared about a couple of months ago had a runt that was next to deaths door. She didn't have the strength to nurse from her mother. She was all bones. My hubby and I began bottle feeding her and brought her back. She is doing well now(but still the smallest) and is the most loving and affectionate of the kittens.
