Ooh...great club idea

I played the French horn for 9 years, during primary and secondary school.

Our school band would play everything from classical, to big band, to movie scores, so you got a lot of experience with different music styles.

My all-time favorite pieces to play were The Planets, by Gustav Holst. Here are videos of Mars, The Bringer of War, and Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity. (The French horns really stand out in Jupiter )

Mars

Jupiter

ooh! argoyle! i've heard of the planets, by gustav holst! i was inspired to listen to all of them because of hearing a part of jupiter, the bringer of jolity.

and next to that, the mars part is my favorite too.

oh, do you have musical scores of this one for the piano? i mean, jupiter. i've heard one performance of this in piano at youtube, though i don't know where to get the score

i would love to study it

Well, I'm not much of a musician, but I love to sing! My fav bands are Evanescence, Linkin Park, and Cascada. My parents say that it's rare because I like a whole bunch of different types of music (This is what my Genre list says, so I'm just taking it from my list of music-Alternative, Christian Pop Punk, Gothmetal, Hard Rock, Hip Hop/Rap, Other, Pop, R&B, Rock, Trance-now is that just me, or is that a lot?!

I use to be part of a traveling singing group in highschool that you had to be asked to be in. We use to travel around the state doing competitions and we sang and danced and wore different outfits. For Christmas we would dress up like carolers, stuff like that. We sang some songs from Oklahoma and Chicago. I was on the dance team too so I actually got to make up a lot my singing groups dances. We even sang at some state sports games the Colorado Rapids (soccer) and the Colorado Rockies (baseball) Probably the funniest thing i've done in my life. I miss it a lot. None of the colleges i've gone to so far have any singing programs so it's a big bummer for me. It's not the same singing and dancing around while cleaning house
As for musicals I was in Grease, Seven brides for Seven brothers and the Sound of Music.
Maybe I'll post some pictures later on. If I get brave enough. I still haven't posted a picture with me in it here on AM.

@Argoyle, I use to be in band too. I played the flute. Which I hated! I wanted to play the drums, my mom said no, I said ok the sax and she said no and said ok the clarinet and my band teacher said no haha there was already too many people playing that so I got stuck with the flute which was like the last thing I wanted to play. I would have loved band so much more if they would have let me play what I wanted to play. My favorite song that we played in band was the theme song for Jurassic Park.

@Pokegal we have some of the same favorite bands! I love Evanescence I actually met Amy Lee the lead singer and got her autograph last year after a concert

@Chimera my brother and husband both play guitar and i've been trying for years to get them to teach me. No success so far. But i'm determined to learn it sooner or later. I'd love to be able to play guitar and the piano.

Yeah my husband was mad because he's gone to tons of concerts and never met the band or got an autograph. I got one at my 2nd concert haha. It was cool though, but It was weird having her stand right there.

I'm not musically inclined what so ever but I thought this would be a good place to share this video. If for some reason the link is wrong the video is called 'Stop Motion Drums'

http://my.break.com/content/view.aspx?ContentID=183810

I would hate to know how much time was put into making this.

@pokegal/shadowlove! cool, you joined the club! anyway, nice bands, i like those too

@ladyt, don't know when i'll be able to fix the background, but i'll find time. as for your stories of singing, instruments and bands... they were all great!

i love chicago, sound of music and grease would love to watch the other musicals as well

as for instruments, when i was young, i always wanted to play ALL MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS. STARTING WITH THE HARP. i let go of the dream when i reallized how expensive it was. even the strings O_o so,i tried piano first, then guitar, a bit of the drums and the recorder

for bands. i don't really watch concerts that much. lol. though, my first concert was just this year. it's not even a band. just james blunt. wasn't really a fan, but when he sang, i thought he was really good

@chimera, you can upload your music in the collegium the link's right up there

@mizzou, that was a cool video thanks for sharing

Hi, for those who like Italian songs, I advise you of a singer: Mia Martini. You can see videos on Youtube and for songs it is almost impossible to find them , PM me e-mail me to have songs, you should not be disappointed!

@flavie, don't really know about italian songs. except for the ones my voice teacher thought me. you know, the old italian songs. though, some of them are actually nice
