sorry, i won't be able to update for another week or so...this is the time of the school year when we scramble to complete projects, and i'm the director of this play our section has to present, and we're cramming so bad...i sure don't want to let our class down. and since i'm running for honors, it makes the whole thing more stressful. i swear i've never lost my temper as many times as this week. i hope you'll understand.

P.S. what else would you like to see lars do as a slave? he still has a half day to go...

Not sure if it`s a good idea... Help Rhen with her make-up! And do more shopping!!! Or repair a house!!! That would be nice!

LOL.... Lars can't even fold sheets yet he can cast powerful spells and Rhen being his boss for the day.... hahahaha

yay! finally, after the most stressful week in my high school life, (yeah, that stressful) i can use the computer for hours again. so here's the last part of Lars's day as a slave.

i wanted to have lars put makeup on rhen, but the problem is, would rhen even think of trusting her makeup to lars, who doesn't have experience in makeup? and i couldn't have him repair a house, maybe we can have him do that when they buy the house in sedona. but i had him do more shopping, and i had him...wait, you might not like spoilers. read on!

Day 35 (Nighttime entry)

I never thought that another woman in the party would take some time to get used to. It’s not helped by the fact that the woman in question is Elini, a demon summoner from Veldt. I mean, she is fierce, so fierce that her three husbands have to join forces just to try to remain the dominant men of the house. If she had only one husband, well, I don’t want to think of the life he’ll lead. She’s…scary, to be frank about it. Especially if you watch her in battle. She uses a whip…she makes you want to save the werewolves she lashes out at. Talia and Rhen were much easier to talk to, to joke around with, etc.

Her language is…what you would expect from a noblewoman. She never uses slang, and whenever I say things like “Grool” or “Shoot” she flinches at the sound of it. She still can’t get used to my lack of manners when eating with an empty stomach. Well, to be frank, it’s like I have to adjust to her instead of her getting used to me. I can see she’s very headstrong. I might just have met my match in being hard-headed.

Today, because we explored a place called Land’s End, which has monsters so hard to beat. The Earth Elementals look a bit creepy, and fighting with them is rather scary, too. The ra—ryns (what is the spelling of that kind of bird again?) are tough, too.

Later on, we took a break and rested after killing all the birds and elementals. Then Rhen said, “Lars, I’m hungry. Cook me some food.” (She already told Talia and Elini that I was her slave for a day; she said we had a contest last night: whoever goes to sleep first loses and is the other’s slave for a day. Thank goodness she left my diary out of it all.)

“Huh? But you can eat some bread and berries; we don’t have to cook.”
“I want grilled venison,” she said, like a real spoiled brat.
“We don’t have a grill.”
“Talia and I went shopping before, right? Well, I bought a foldable, compact mini-grill.” She took a small metal rectangular box from my rucksack; something I did not notice earlier.
“Well, do you expect me to cook venison with my sorcerer’s outfit on? I won’t risk getting a meaty smell on it. It will take a few days before I can have it washed again, and it might attract new beasts to our party.”
“There was a free apron with the grill. I think it’s here.” She fumbled around with the rucksack and took out a folded apron. It was pink, with lilac hearts on it and when she unfolded it, there was big, bold lettering that shouted: KISS THE COOK. How humiliating. Nevertheless, I had to keep my word and follow her command.

Another problem was that I don’t know how to cook, let alone grill food. Besides, there wasn’t any coal. I panicked for a while, because if Rhen did not get what she wanted, it’s possible she’d raise Cain the rest of the day. But then I remembered my Thunderstorm skill. So I told Rhen, “I need to go someplace sunnier. Just stay here.” She was okay with it, and I brought the mini-grill to a place where no one would hear or see the thunder and lightning. I put the grill over a shallow stream and stood on the ground next to a spot on the stream ten feet away from the grill. And I did Thunderstorm right there. The water conducted the electricity, traveled to the grill, and made grill marks on the bottom of the meat. I turned over the meat and did the whole thing over again. I folded the grill back, took off the troublesome apron, and brought the meat to Rhen, who was resting in a shady place with the other two of the party, who were taking naps.

“Wow Lars, that was fast!” Rhen exclaimed when she saw the cooked meat. I just smirked. I bet she didn’t expect me to cook it at all.
“You should know…this actually tastes good!” she said in between bites. “Too bad you’re only my slave for a day; I like this for breakfast. Hmm. Lars, can you cook dinner later, please?”

I was surprised (and rather flattered) that she complimented my cooking; and that she politely asked me to cook dinner later.

“Sure,” I said. “As long as you buy me lots of covey balm.”

She looked confused, but nevertheless she said, “Deal.” A second later she squealed and jumped at me while gleefully shouting, “THANK YOU, LARS!!!” In the process she knocked me over and gave me a big hug. “Oops. Sorry, Lars,” she said sheepishly after that. “I just liked your cooking so much. I want Talia and Elini to taste it, too.”

Then I looked at the Talia and Elini, and found they were already awake. They must have woken up while Rhen was shouting. They looked rather…shocked at Rhen’s childish (but I gotta admit, that was really cute) behavior. Rhen looked too, gave a fake, embarrassed laugh and said, “I made him cook venison and it tasted so good that I asked him to cook more for dinner.”

A moment later she realized that she was still kneeling on my poor stomach (she’s heavy even if she looks slender) and that I couldn’t breathe. My face was turning slightly purple (blue from lack of air, but I don’t know where the red came from) when she got off me.

“Are we all well rested now?” asked Talia. Rhen and I nodded and packed up the grill in the rucksack.

We spent the rest of the day fighting monsters again and just honing our skills until sunset. And we went back to the Wildwoods tavern when the sun came down. Of course, I cooked dinner just like Rhen wanted.

“How did you cook the venison, Lars? I know you didn’t use charcoal!” Rhen said.
“Watch and learn, Rhen,” I said and went to the nearest stream with the grill, then set everything just like I did in Land’s End, except I put four pieces of venison on it instead of only one. Rhen, Elini and Talia watched attentively. Then I told them, “Keep away from the stream. Stay back.”

Then I did Thunderstorm, turned over the meat, and did Thunderstorm again. Rhen clapped after I did everything, she was rather amused, by the look on her face. “You are very resourceful, young northerner,” Elini stated.

“So that’s why you wanted covey balm!” Rhen cried excitedly. “Let’s eat!”
“Let’s head back to the tavern first,” I said.

So we went back to the tavern and had a dinner of venison, bread, and goat’s milk. Then we walked back to Veldarah, because we needed to buy supplies for the next day, as we had already used up all our cassia leaves and mana supplements. Then Rhen said, “Lars, I’m tired…can we go to the inn?”

“Then who will buy the supplies? We’re leaving for Land’s End first thing in the morning.”
“Um, you?”
“Do I have to?”
“Well, the day’s not over yet and we still have our deal. Buy as much covey balm as you want, by the way. Here’s the list.”
“Okay, fine.”
“Thanks, Lars!”

I went from store to store to buy everything on the list, which consisted of venison (Rhen made it number one on her list), lightning spells (which she must have included so that she could cook venison even if I’m not around), cassia leaves, covey balm and bread. It took me a long time to buy them all, as all the shop attendants were so slow (reeeaaally slow) to get what I wanted to buy.

And at last, I had everything on the list and I finally went back to the inn, where they were all ready to sleep. I rushed to get in my pajamas and threw myself on my bed. When they were asleep, and I was drifting off, Rhen suddenly whispered in my ear. Hey, I didn’t even know she was still awake. I gasped in surprise.

“Hey, Lars?”
“What the…Rhen, you’re still awake?”
“I…just wanted to tell you that…um…”
“Well, go on, shoot.”
“Thank you for keeping your word and our deal! I mean, well, I didn’t really expect you to do everything I told you to, and you hardly ever complained! Thank you so much.”
“Uh…you’re welcome, Rhen.”
“Okay. Goodnight!”

And when she went back to her bed, I quietly got this diary and wrote about the day. That last conversation was a bit weird, though I did like talking to Rhen. Though I expected she’d say something else…I really hope we can be friends now. Well, this day has been very, very long. But it’s been very fun, too.
