yup i know.
i do make frame-by-frame animations, but since i make all frames with paint, that doesn't take me much time.

@Ivana: Depends on how big the studio is, probably. Bigger studio like Disney could afford more artists than tiny studios in countries that don't care much for cartoons. I can't tell off the top of my head, but just go catch a cartoon and WATCH THE END CREDITS. Wait until the section labelled "Animators" come up and see just how many artists work on it.

@Soumya: Frames drawn in Photoshop is not any harder than drawing in Paint. Plus, stuff made in Paint would look very old school or very ugly because it doesn't have the shiny effects Photoshop/GIMP/SAI have. YOU HAVE PHOTOSHOP AND CAN ANIMATE WITH IT. Why do you still draw frames in Paint?????? It's a hassle importing the frames one by one from Paint. Might as well just draw them directly on Photoshop
Ugh. Can't you Google? It's faster than waiting for a reply here in the forums. Oh well, coz I'm already here might as well. If a GIF, Go to File > Save for Web & devices. If a movie/video, go to Export > Render Video.

The timing is a bit off. It's not smooth. The car looks like it's having trouble moving, like it's driving through mud or something.

It's decent. WOULD IT HURT TO USE PHOTOSHOP TO DRAW? That looks obviously drawn in paint, and seriously, I can't tell if this was supposed to be a water balloon splashing water or if it's a bomb exploding in blue fire.

And layering is a problem WHY?

It actually helps because 1) You need to be able to see the previous frame in order to make sure your animation is smooth and layering allows you to do that, 2) You can immediately render it as animation directly from the PSD, and 3) Drawing on Photoshop allows you to have better effects.

@D_A
Something I forgot to ask, do you use a mouse to draw?? I find it hard to control the mouse when drawing in MS paint. :/

@Ivana: I draw with a tablet, but this is precisely why tools like Flash, Photoshop, GIMP, and SAI are awesome. Their Pen Tools are super great. Look up Pen tool tutorials on Deviantart to see how they work.

Though you'd probably need something to trace first. You sadly have to draw by pencil on paper first. You'll need a light desk to trace though, coz you need to make sure the frames aren't too different from the previous one, or else it will look like a mess.

Cheap people's light desk/box: If you have a clear glass table, shine a small lamp from underneath it.
