Some more I can remember right now.
Calliope's Wand - Calliope is the name of a muse in Greek Mythology, like Talia. She is the muse of epic poems (poems about heroes and stuff). Ishtar - She is the Babylonian goddess of love and fertility. Thor - Thor is the name of the Norse god of thunder. He is said to have enormous strength. He wields a hammer called Mjollnir. Masamune - Not really a god, but the name is derived from a famous Japanese general Masamune Date. He plays a part in the Sengoku era. TBH, when I read the description of the sword in AV2 "A sword made of masamune", I was like all WTH??) Apollo - The god of music in Greek myth, sometimes also referred to god of sun. He is the son of the Titaness Leto with Zeus. His twin sister is Artemis, the goddess of hunts. Both are extremely skilled with the bow.

Archimedes (the ultimate "helmet that looks like the non-guilded Amaranthian icon): Greek mathematician.
Zeus: Lots of people probably already know, but he's Greek god of thunder, the heavens, and king of the gods.

I understand Serendipity is the nymph of luck - was that just for luck, or was there a mythological character chosen for her namesake?
Same goes for Aisling and the other nymphs - where did those names come from? Rhen, Iya, etc?

@Seraphina: Names are chosen just for the heck of it. I mean, look at the daevas and druids of AV1. In the original myth Agas is not a daeva, Daena is a term used to describe religion in general and not the name of a person or being, Nanghaithya is the enemy of Armaiti and not Vohu Manah, etc. Other names are completely made up, like Te'ijal.
And a lot of the names are already explained in previous pages. Have you been reading carefully? Rhen: Already explained. Most likely from the element "Rhenium" (it is too an actual element from the periodic tables) Serendipity: The word literally means "to find something incredible while looking for something else completely unrelated to the discovery". The word comes from the fairytale "The Three Princes of Serendip", and Serendip is another name for Sri Lanka. Aisling: I suspect it's actually inspired by Aislingaio the mod. Iya: It depends on how the name is actually pronounced. It could be a play on "Aia", the "Earth" of Aveyond. Heptitus: Could be a play on the "Hepatitis" disease, but that's just a speculation. Ishtar: Babylonian goddess. Already explained. Ceri: Actual real life name of people and places. Nuha: An Ancient Arabian goddess associated with the sun.

Found more stuff!!
Vata: One "half" of the dual-natured god Vayu-Vata (or Vata-Vayu) representing Wind (Vayu) and Atmosphere (Vata). Said god can be called either Vayu or Vata, but Vayu is the one used more often. In one of the now-extinct branch of the religion, Vayu-Vata is two parts of the four-part ultimate god Zurvan and represents "Space". The other two parts, which I cannot find a name for, represents "Time" (lol Amaranthia you got it reversed). Vayu-Vata is BOTH a Yazata and a Daeva, so he can be good or evil depending on the situation.Text and scriptures would use the term "good Vayu-Vata" to refer to him when he's in Yazata-mode. No mention if they call him "bad Vayu-Vata" when he's in daeva-mode. -------------------------------------------- Since Vata is half-a-daeva in the myth and is the druid of Time in Aveyond and I used to think Agas is a Time Master because he LOVES Time Storm so damn much, I now have a creepy mental image of Vata being Agas' father or something like that *shudder*

@ d_A - Lol! Some shock to agas if he hears that, you know xD But its always possible, Vata did look old in Aveyond (with the white hair and visible balding in the front, if I remember correctly) =.=
But what if Vata transforms to Agas when he's in bad mode? ouo...Now..that's confusing xD

Agas: No, Valkyriet, my father is someone MORE unexpected than that. At least in the one version where D_A actually bothered telling anyone who my father is. By the way, Vata is not me. Demons don't have souls, remember?
Yay, Agas is being a good boy and is actually polite to someone!

And Archimedes and Apollo (or was it Artemis?). The weapons and armour, you know? There's also Acropolis, which is a Greek city.
Aveyond kinda draws stuff from all sorts of different myths. ---------------------------------------------- *) Ashera (Ashera's tomb in AV3): Probably from Asherah. Asherah is the Mother Goddess in Sumerian and Ugaritic myth.

That's the stuff. I knew it was one of those two and I know I brought it up somewhere in this thread, but I was too lazy to look through the posts.

I hope this necropost isn't so bad, but I want to share this:
The sword named "Masamune". The name's been floating around various Japanese games (most famous probs being Sephiroth's sword in FF7). I'm inclined to think that Amanda picked up the name from those already-existing games, and if she does, I really belive the Japanese wasn't referring to Masamune Date when they named that sword. They meant Masamune the blacksmith. He was very famous for revolutionizing smithing methods and it makes swords a heck lot better, hence why the Masamune sword is a very powerful sword in games.
