Depends on my mood.

1) The combination of "killing everything" and "dodge-and-run" (maybe levelling-up, too):
If the game has something like a tent or healing savepoint, I'll kill as much enemies as possible, then run to the healling spot.
If not... I run to the savepoint, then kill enemies until characters' mp and hp are near helfway, using my items to heal up a little.

2) "Fight as little as possible, with the least level possible":
When I just don't want to play this game anymore, I'll be like "whatever" to leveling up and try to beat the game under-levelled.

I liked to fight, but I also dodge-and-run when encountering lots of hard-to-kill monsters.

I kill everything in my way so I may explore peacefully.

However, if they are the type that respawn instantly after I have moved away merely ONE screen, then I will likely dodge and run while muttering curses.

I also like going for the more difficult enemies first simply because I want them out of the way as soon as possible.

I agree with Haneul. I try to eliminate all enemies within an area so I can explore and search for loot without being hassled.

I usually take up to twice as long to finish a game as the adverage because I spend a lot of time scrounging around looking for stuff and I am cautious and methodical when I fight.

In games where skill points must be assigned and decision tree paths selected, I torment myself over the choices.

I have also been known to grind alot to ensure I'll have enough money, weapons, and supplies because I am always afraid of running out.

Something I've taken to doing recently, what with the new Load option in Av2 and 3. I look up guides to see the max loot a monster can give me (whenever such guides are available) and save right before I loot. Then if the corpse don't give me max loot, I load and re-loot the corpse until I get the max amount of loot it can give me. Or, if there's no guide telling me what the max loot is, I just pick up whatever loot it gives me and only re-load when the corpse turns out empty.

How I play my RPGs largely depends on the battle system in has. For example, I don't like the turn-based battle often used in RM games (e.g. Aveyond), so I tend to avoid battles unless I really need the exp.

For hack-and-slash battles like Koei's [i]Samurai Warriors[i], I'll try to kill as many enemies as possible.

Most of the times i fight as much as posible to reach a very high level... And gather much gold =)

But sometimes i just avoid fighting if i am in a hurry to finish the game fast D:

So I vote level up as much as i can =)

It depends for me...
If the battles are relatively easy then I just kill all the enemies in the area then move on. But if the enemies are hard or the battles just take forever then I'd dodge and run.
But anyway I'm voting for level up as much as you can.

I sometimes run and dodge when I still cannot defeat the enemies but, I kill all (those who I can defeat) when I am in a higher level than them.
