@shadowshed:- i agree with u....bt u do seem to be sayin the same thing i m sayin bt with different phrasin.....u can disagree.....bt both topic(religious,scientific) does matter along with source

@spirits: that's why i'm saying that topics influence how far your knowledge goes for it, to actually say whether an article true or not. Not the topics judge the truth of the article. The more you KNOW, the more you can SAY which is one. The more you don't know, the more you easily being tracked away by something you don't know about(especially if it's wrong)

@shadowshed:- So can we safely agree tht knowledge is definitely useful when verifyin a reliable source...i hope u mean this....cause if u dn't then i guess i really m slower than the average person
(2 topics closed cause of me....lol so much 4r my return to am forums frm 3 years back....maybe i'll become a silent observer again....it wz nice meetin all the new nd likewise old members )

@theone Wiki is VERY accurate. It constantly has to state sources or it'll post right at the top it's inaccurate.

assuming the articles in question are actually updated. There are many articles that are stubs or barely have anything, and the stuff they do have are red flagged as 'not good' or 'too opinionated'.
A good resource to get some starter info, but I wouldn't depend on it if you have to use it as a resource for a lab report/essay/etc.

cuz sometimes you don't know what you want to do yet or how to search for xx subject, especially if the subject is relatively obscure.
Wiki's references can help point you in the right direction to see what are good search terms. For example, one time my group had to look up the concentration of XX chemical in broccoli. Looking in science journals didn't really help because there wasn't much research into it so we had to go to outside sources. Fortunately, wiki had some reference links on the bottom that, while not from scientific journals as preferred, were nonetheless accepted.

Wiki is also accepted by my school and packed full of pretty much everything. It's rare that I see an article that needs additional info.
