Good call with the hockey helmet! I was going to say a skateboarding/biking helmet, but the added face guard on a hockey/lacrosse helmet would definitely help to prevent zombies from nomming on my nose.
I'd also add elbow/knee/wrist pads, shin guards, and maybe shoulder pads; anything that would work like armor yet not impede your running ability. ...an inflatable raft? You plan on dragging it around when you are not near water?

@arggie: can't you fold/deflate the raft back up? Oo?

Yeah but carrying it around is still a pain

I'm sure not quickly and easily. You can never get all the air out of inflatable things, so it never folds up nicely ever again.

Look, I'm sorry you took a job in a LAME sporting goods store, but that's the way it is! Stop complaining about it and get on with your survival
![]() And yeah, a raft is pretty freakin' heavy. Then again, you only really need to use it once to sail to some uninhabited nearby island. After that you can just park the thing and wait out the plague... till you run out of food. Doesnt work if you live somewhere without islands.

Zombies...don't...exist....
But if that did happen, I'd grab a flamethrower! If the store didn't have that, I wouldn't leave the store. I'd pick up the phone and call the military, the police, ghosthunters, and some detectives in case the zombies were fake.

Everyone knows that the first thing to go during a zombie apocalypse is the communications infrastructure.
Amazing how zombies seem to just shuffle around aimlessly, yet they instinctively know to take out the phone lines right away. I guess, once I left the sporting goods store, I'd make a quick stop at the nearby electronics store and stock up on phones with which to distract the horde. ![]()

What's the point of this thread, exactly?
@Argoyle - I'm pretty sure you're only allowed to grab things from the sporting goods store.

No one said you couldn't grab anything from any other store once you were out of the sporting goods store.

True enough, I suppose. Wait, so I do get my flamethrower? Great, zombies are scared of fire and flammable.

When I say raft, I mean this, or maybe something a little bigger:
![]() I can't think of what the heck to call one of them. This would really depend on where you live, too. I would want to grab a sweater or jacket, and a pair of shoes that are good for climbing trees. I think that I would end up stopping at a pet store, especially if they had all sorts of exotic pets, like tarantulas, so that I could throw said pets at the zombies. Ha.

I'm pretty sure if you light a zombie on fire all you have is a flaming zombie. Fire doesn't kill them unless it is hot enough to turn them to ash.
The POINT of this thread is to survive the zombie outbreak! It could happen at any minute! Be prepared! Keep in mind staying put isn't an option: In the description there is a fire that has started in the city and you can tell it is coming your way. And... Zombies hate light. Therefore when the first night strikes they start ripping out street lamps, which inevitably leads to downed power lines. Knock down enough powerlines and the electrical grid overloads; knocking out all communication devices as well as other things like gas pumps, electrical locks, magnetic locks, ect. This explains the no phones phenomena. Cell towers don't work without electricity! (This is what basically happened in the NYC blackout several years ago... well, power lines going down - not the zombie apocalypse.)

Do the zombies even eat brains like those in Plants vs. Zombies? Is it like L4D or Red Dead Redemption? =))) But I digress...
Since we're talking about a Sporting Goods Store, it would be less likely to have a gun unless your store has a security guard. Of course, I'd take as much as food, water and other basic needs as much as I can. Then, I'd take the ff: golf club, some golf balls, a hockey helmet, knee pads, etc. As long as I could carry those things, though. This is the part where we usually think between which to choose among the ff: A. Should you travel light yet fast with enough supplies until you get to the safety zone? B. Should you travel slowly with more than supplies until you get to the safety zone?

I know fire wouldn't burn them, but zombies fear heat and light. Then all the people I called would destroy the scared zombies.

If zombies hate light, then I would bring one of those flashlights with about 100 000 candle power. They're he kind that will blind you if you look at them.
![]() @Stardale: I think that you should travel light. That way you can run quicker and get to the safer places faster. Do you think zombies can climb?

Well, that works, but I think a zombie's greatest fear is fire.
Zombies climbing depends on the movie.

The trouble is, you won't know if zombies can climb till you see em do it... and by then you may not like the outcome!
![]() I like the idea of defending yourself with a flashlight... and if it doesn't work you can always hit them with it.

Someone may have said this already...but why leave the store? Why not just call the army, the police, and some pyros, then defend the store with the closest thing to weaponry there.

There's a fire coming towards the store, too, not just zombies. Anyways, I think that the army might already be tied up with other places. The zombies would get in sooner or later, so why trap yourself inside?
