Once again one of you is probably wondering "Where'd the newsletter go this time!?" Well, the answer was Casual Connect Seattle, where I wheeled and dealed and hopefully set up some profitable ventures for the future of Amaranth Games. Work aside, something happened that prompted today's newsletter... something... embarrassing. Luckily, it didn't happen to me. Every year our partners Wild Tangent rents out the entire Seattle Aquarium, stocks it full of beer, wine, and liquor, and throws a big party. I suppose it was only a matter of time before our drunk friends at Big Blue Bubble dropped a full drink into the starfish touch tank. Yeah, that's gotta be embarrassing... killing helpless sea creatures in front of every co-worker and potential client sure does make a splash! Ha! Get it? Splash!?

That's certainly the most embarrassing thing I have heard of lately, but come now, share some stories of embarrassment with the rest of us! Feel free to volunteer someone ELSE (Or just claim it was someone else, we'll really believe it was you anyway). Let the games begin!

Words from The Fool:

For a fool to be embarrassed you'd have to be very foolish indeed. It's happened once... maybe twice... but I think the one that stands out in my mind was when I accidentally went to school with my clothes on inside out. You'd think by fourth grade I woulda learned how to dress myself. No Fooling.

Oh and for anyone who cares about some of the other fun things that I did at Casual Connect. I took a trip over to Valve HQ in Bellevue for a meeting with the Steam folks. Coolest thing there is a life size Team Fortress 2 engineer turret that is pointed at you as you get out of the elevator. Sweet!

I also sat down with Big Fish Games and am pleased to leak that Gypsy's Tale for Ipad/IPhone is coming SOON. Woot woot!

In lesser news I also struck a deal with Gamehouse to bring Aveyond to their platform as well as spreading Aveyond to several other new digital platforms that are in the works. Due to technical limitations Mac (and therefore iOS) versions of Aveyond are still a no go... but there is SOME hope. It's a secret still though, but don't count on it anyone. If it happens, great.

Meanwhile due to feedback from the show I am busy twisting Amanda's arm to try something "new" to be developed at the same time as the next Aveyond. It's a secret as to what, but I think you'll all be pleasantly surprised.

So, that gives you all another quick look into the behind the scenes world of Amaranth Games. Hope you enjoyed it!

Casual Connect? Amanda linked me to the thread about the Red Robin dinner after Casual Connect, but I either went to the wrong Red Robin or didn't recognize the people because I can't seem to find the Casual Connect people in the place. Sad. Not that I'd know what to talk about were I there. I'm an awkward person who is always too shy to walk up to people and talk to them.

Embarrassing moment, huh? Where do I start! I guess with one of the latest - I told a coworker of mine that Carmel is a place for rich old people and turned out she just bought a house there! And here is one from past Casual Connect - we were partying at BFG, Paul Thelen house. I was conversing with one of my industry friends when some guy joined us. We shook each other hand, he introduced himself "Paul". My response "Paul who?". The rest is easy to guess - he was Paul Thelen and I was at his house... Try to top that!

This happened when I was in high school. In high school, my hair was pretty long. I usually keep my hair pulled back, because I hate having it in my face. So anytime there was a special event or something where I had to look nice, I would leave my hair down. Usually that involves straightening it and using a tone of hairspray so it doesn't frizz. So-

I was being inducted into the NHS. It was a candle-light ceremony, and everyone being inducted had their own candles. After our candles were lit, we had papers to get out from under our chairs. (Which was really just a lovely place to put them... anyway.)

I bent over, making sure my candle wasn't in anyone else's space. I didn't want to burn someone. Anyway, I got my papers. All was good for a moment until the girl next to me asked "What's that smell?"

If you have ever smelled hair burning, you know the smell. Evidently while making sure my candle wasn't going to burn anyone else, I neglected to pay attention where it was in relation to me.

So, yes, I set my own hair on fire at my NHS ceremony.

(Luckily, it didn't really 'catch fire'- it was more just smoking, and I was able to put it out with my hand, and not many people noticed... Still, it was embarrassing, combined with when it happened.)

When I was 15, I went with a guy friend to his school’s homecoming dance. On the way there, I remember him saying something about not having a boutonniere, which I didn’t realize was the male equivalent of a corsage and therefore my responsibility to buy. After the dance I felt guilty for not having gotten him one, so I called him up to apologize. …Only I couldn’t remember the name of the thing, so I settled on a word that sounded close enough. He paused for a moment, realized what I was trying to say, and then told me not to worry about it. After I got off the phone, I took a moment to look up the word that I had so cleverly interjected. Of course I had not used the correct word, boutonniere. What I had apologized for not getting him was another word for bedroom--boudoir! Needless to say I was pretty embarrassed after that, and I only hope he didn’t know what the word meant at the time.

Plus I paid for it all You missed out! Amanda shoulda just sent you direct to me. Next time! We do it every year.

the two that popped into my head are quite a bit different than anyone else's so far XD

so, there was this boy i liked (say we call him K). and i was sitting between him and one of my other friends (let's call him Z)in the library one day. Now, Z and I argued constantly--and it was usually hilarious.

well...while i was arguing with Z, i was shaking my head violently. and my glasses went flying off and hit K in the arm XD and he kind of looks at me curiously, picks them up, and asks, "um...are these yours?"

tei, meanwhile, is glaring at z.

next was the next year. i was at school late (think seven or eight at night) for play practice. i went to a private school, so we had boarders and commuters. he was a boarder, i was a commuter.

anyways! i had nothing to do to speak of that night in play practice, so my director said "yeah, go ahead and use the booth computer for whatever." so i immediately go to pull out my traveldrive. except it's not on my key ring where i usually keep it. proceed to check all my pockets. not there either. i'm beginning to panic a bit--my entire game and all my resources are on said traveldrive. i then run back and forth across campus in the dark, in a cape, panicking, in search of a key to the art room. no luck with that. there were two other people crossing the road at one point and one of them asked,

"hey, tei--what are you doing?"

"LOOKING FOR MY TRAVELDRIVE!"

and who was it that i into as i'm running around like a chicken with my head cut off? the same boy i like, and his roommate. i was glad it was dark so he couldn't see me blushing XD

okay, so maybe they're more amusing than anything else--but at the time, i was quite embarrassed XD

Tei your boy stories are NOTHING ... NOTHING compared to... well... hmm... these forums are G rated.

Lets just say my roommate and good friend Travis... well, his father and his younger brother interrupted a very intimate moment! And they bring it up EVERY TIME I SEE THEM.

Just tell him you like him and be done with it!

*person A picks up the phone to call the community clinic in the campus and dials the number.*

*the phone rings*

*the phone gets picked up by person B*

Person A: who’s the on call pediatrician for today, please?

Person B: excuse me?

*Person A in a hurry*: the on call doctor in the clinic, I need to know who’s available for today.

*silence*

Person B: sorry, this is the home delivery service for the local Mcdonalds.

*more silence*

*Person A hangs up*

Person B: that clinic should really consider setting up a loony asylum.

*person B hangs up too*

Glad I didn't mention any names xD
