Got the Nightengale quest from the queen, yet still can't pick up bird seed. Any thoughts on what to do?

From which queen did you get the quest? (It used to be a different queen.) You must get it from The queen in Veldt. Is the quest in your journal? If not, go back and talk to her again. (Not only do you have to try to find her husband in the caverns, you have to fight him in the castle.)
Do you have the birdcage? Did Lars say you need birdseed when you looked at the Nightingale?
