Hence why I said AV2 is a self-contained story for the most part. It feels like a bonus chapter. A side story. It wouldn't really matter if it didn't exist.

It seems that we are in violent agreement, at least in part. It IS a side story, and it WOULDN'T really matter if it exists. Which is why I'd like to make it have some worth to the series as a whole. AP is obviously inextricably connected to AV1, and both AV2 and AV3 are built on the foundation of AV1, but AV3 could easily, and more conveniently, exist without AV2 (less of the pesky continent-shifting). AV4 is clearly built on AV3, so it would be nice if it also took some continuity from AV2, hence a small cameo of Ean and Iya, or the descendents of another character/pair of characters, or even a larger role. Just SOMETHING.

Yes. And besides... at the end of the game is that thing about another story for another time.
And we do know that elves live a looong life so wouldn't it be possible for Ean and/or Iya to have something to do with AV 4's plot?

I would definitely fear rhen and co coming back. I'd rather let her rest in peace. Unless she came back as a ghost helper or something, it would be fine. Rhen is my favourite character to date, that;s why I don't want to see her as the main character in a new game. Especially becase I was so fond of how Av 1 played out and the ending it had. I was such a Rhen/Dameon shipper back then. I would not trade that ending for anything lol.
I would, however, like to see Lars return in a major role. I never finished my story..yet..as I don;t have the time, it's still in the making, but I just think the character still had potential. Also the other side characters from the first two games, would be great to s ee them again. Ean and Iya too. As long as the plot has nothing to do with Rhen, I just would rather let her rest in peace, precisely becaise I liked her so much. I still felt that there was some story potential left unused from the first game, however. The characters I always love seeing, though is Galahad and the vampire whose name I often forget am am too lazy to check how you spell... but I love them and their bickering banter so much. Other than that, I am looking forward to number 4. Among all the rpg maker fever, there are fantastic and thrashy games, but Aveyond remains one that started it all, hence I will always look forward to it. I always liked its style and charm. It's a class of its own. And I may not log in very often to the site, but Aveyond does remain my favourite and I remain loyal to it :-) Aveynd has become a mark of certain quality a: well executed, well told, well-written that I am more than happy to see and encourage and promote when I can.

Most of Amaranthians think this way too.
BTW... the vampresses name is Te'ijal. She is Galahad's wife. I think she is the one you're talking about.

@nocturnal: I agree completely. Rhen was a very good character (her romance with Dameon was a little half-baked, however; they rarely interacted in the game, and at best in optional ways, so I prefer Lars x Rhen, but I'm not some avid shipper), but her story was told and it would harm the original Aveyond and the character to bring her back. But most of the other characters, or at least their descendants, should be fair game.
Also, I really hope that the next main character follows after Mel and Rhen rather than Ean or Talia in that their sprite and facesets are unique and add to the character, rather than the pool of generic generic-ness of the latter two. Rhen's identity is so wrapped up in her appearance, as is Mel's, and Ean and Talia didn't exhibit that. Other good examples from the series are Yvette, Elini, Te'ijal, Ulf, and Lydia. The characters in AP and AV2 are kind of generic (though I still like them), and Edward (and Stella, now that I think of it) is just so BORING and GENERIC.

Speaking of sprites:
Stella is just Iya recoloured and without elf ears. To be precise, the "child" Iya sprite from the Vale. And Gavin is Galahad, who is just one of the default RTP Sprites recoloured. LOLOLOLOLOL. I wonder if there's a way to take the looseleaf Mack-style sprite and resize them for RMXP, because that would help in the variation department. I mean, MEL seemed totally like she was made with Looseleaf, then the spriters took the hair and clothes and resized them to RMXP and put it on an RMXP template.

Thank you, Shaz. I have to say, some of you are making it very un-fun to read the forums. It's great to have an opinion and have suggestions for the next installment, but when you start picking out all the things Amanda did "wrong" in the others, you sound like a Negative Nancy Know-It-All. I think Amanda does an excellent job. I think we should be extremely grateful that she makes these games. THANK YOU AMANDA! So please, PLEASE, can we keep things positive while also being respectful of our fellow posters? We don't need to ridicule them for not knowing or forgetting something from a previous story. Okay, had to get that off my chest. On a bright note, I'm very excited for the 4th installment, and I personally would like to see more of the Ylisfar elves. I also love the witch villages. ![]()

Okay, so I have and AV4 suggestion/fan musing/topic of discussion.
Te'ijal backstory: yes or no? I personally find myself wondering about where the vampress that keeps coming back to the protagonist-out-to-save-to-world came from. What's her backstory? Parents? How she first became a vampire? Et cetera, et cetera. Does anyone think it could have a place in the fourth Aveyond? Not as anything central, but as something small, along the way. Or is she just supposed to stay mysterious? EDIT: @greengirl: Lol, you posted before I did! Can't say I disagree about the first part, but the second part's true as well! I ANOTHER EDIT: Furthermore, methinks there should be a thank-you-Amaranthia day for Amanda and Shaz and the rest of the team of people that help make AV happen. I mean, they brought us this stuff and then we ask for moar. XP They need a proper thanking-day.

@ Goldielox, oh yes, I would LOVE to have a Te'ijal and Gyendal backstory. Not necessarily in AV4, but if someday we had games that went back in time, I think a Te'ijal-centered game where we found out how she became a vampire and how she and her brother became enemies could be great.

I've always thought that Te'ijal and Gyendal only became enemies over the enslaving humans kerfuffle in AV3 and that they're just fine before. That's probably just me, though.
Rather than how they become "enemies", I'd prefer to hear just how on earth did they end up having such opposite ideals? Did something happen in the odd 800 years they had as vampires? Were they actually adopted siblings and not blood related? Te'ijal is kinda over-rated =___= She's really not all that awesome IMO, but hey. That's why I was really hoping for a fresh new set of cast. Oldies can come as NPC cameos, but I want my party to be new peeps. Would be funny if we end up having Te'ijal and Gyendal's relative. Like, they have a third sibling who didn't end up being a vampire and his/her descendant shows up at some point. Or a Pendragon descendant who is NOT part of the royal family. I mean, Nick wandered off with Ava at the end of AV2. Whatever happened to him? Eddie is Uthar's direct grandson, and the closest relative of his we ever see is LYDIA. No mention of cousins or uncles, so Nick probably never returned. It would be awesome if we see HIS descendants in the party. I'm kinda tired of Pendragon royals. Unless the Pendragons all have only one kid each generation, couldn't there be "branch families"? Descendants of the princes and princesses who didn't become king/queen? Also, druids. I want them to return and see THEIR backstory. Why is there a need for a druid of Darkness? What does he do and why did he choose to be in the vampire village? The vampires of AV1 seem to respect him. Are druids just viewed as important everywhere or did Rashnu have to earn the respect from the vampires? Maybe vampires tried to eat him at first, and then he did something awesome and the vamps then decided it's cool to have him around. What does a druid of music do? Where'd HE go that his temple is wrecked and abandoned? Does Eithera always have a hatred for demons? Or is she just extra-mad about being captured because she prided herself to be strong and her defeat is humiliating? So on and so forth.

Daeva_Agas, I love your ideas. I'm surprised I didn't really think of them. Another thought I had perhaps was what about Avril from Arhimins Prophecy?

Not to mention that the druids are just side characters whose only relevance to the plot is their much-needed combined powers to 'unlock' the Sword of Shadows. Their backstory, their daily activities, and what their titles actually mean have no relevance. Especially due to the game engine and graphics, where most details could only be discovered by scrolling texts, there's only so much you can reveal without making the game too long and boring.

@Beginners: Oi! I never said I wanted ALL THOSE on my list to happen! You really need to brush up your English. You're not reading my text properly.
@Rogue: Yes, the druids are not important but they CAN return and become important. I'm pretty curious considering Ahriman and Dameon think they're major hindrance in ruling-the-world attempts. And I'm selfishly blathering about the characters I do give a darn about. It's for the same reason I'd say I want the daevas back, though it's even less sensible. Right now I'm more adamant on having a non-royal Pendragon. As in not the crown prince/princesss and not the brother/sister of the crown prince/princess. A descendant of Nicholas. A descendant of any Pendragon prince/princess who did not end up becoming king/queen. Whatever.

On that note, how does non-royal suddenly equate to "black sheep"? Still, it would be a nice change if the Pendragon party-member you're travelling with is not a noble/royalty, nor would they end up as one (as Rhen did in AV1).Slightly off-topic, but this heir business in fictions kinda bother me for quite some time. If we follow the normal pattern of mating and generations, a single gene pool could produce up to 1 million people in 20 generations, and would probably multiply into billions after a millenium or so, so why does a character suddenly become "special" because they have a super-powerful ancestor or whatnot? 999,999 others probably do too. Related to the Pendragon thing, unless the royal family only produce one offspring per lifetime as D_A suggest, there should be at least 50 million people who'd be somehow connected to the Pendragon family tree but won't make it to royalty/nobility for obvious reasons.

Not always? We haven't seen anyone become special because they have special ancestors in AV yet. Not counting Mel because the Darkthrop bloodline is needed to activate the orbs and she so happens to be the prophecied Chosen One.
Re millions of Pendragons: Considering between Rhen and Eddie there's only like 8 generations... Rhen was supposedly Uthar's great-grandma and Eddie is Uthar's grandson. Yeah, something maybe wrong with the reproduction there. And none of the Pendragons we see never seem to have any uncles or aunts or cousins. I wonder if the Pendragons really did only have one kid per generation. Or all the non-crown-prince/princess all have gone off to lord-knows-where.
