Wow I think I'm the only one that doesn't feel excited about seeing Uma and Nox..I was hoping for whole bunch of new awesome characters since I didn't quite find the characters enjoyable in AV3..except in AV3-3...well I'm excited about the game and I hope to play another great story..and really hope that Uma and Nox will be just NPC's -_-'

Now there's a twisted thought. I don't think that's a half bad idea. I takes out all the commotion about the cannon of AV3. It could work

@Moonja: Aww, you forgot me!
I'm with you, girl. I'm not all that excited about Uma and Nox either. They're over-rated flat Quirky Cool Factors that aren't exactly interesting. I enjoy poking around with my fanon Uma and Nox, but not so much the canon ones. They're just there to blather on and on about THE PROPHECY and bother Mel and... otherwise bland.Still, Amanda already confirmed their existence and importance to the plot so I might as well go along with it. I do want to know what kind of character development those two will get.

Same here. I'm not actually too fond of sequels- especially those that is performed by many of the same characters from the previous installment, but have a completely different storyline. It makes it seem that the developers are just too lazy to design new, cool/interesting characters.
Since we know practically nothing of AV4 aside from it having Uma and Nox, I'm just hoping that this game will have better facesets than its previous installments.

Yea I'm with you on the faceset thing. I did not like the facesets for Mel and Co. I only liked the new character's faceset like Uma and Nox.

Am I the only one who liked AV3's facesets? I didn't see anything wrong with them.

Some of us have crazy-high standards when it comes to art, apparently.
Te'ijal was fine, Lydia and Ulf looks okay, Uma, Nox, and Yemite were absolutely gorgeous, but the main 3 kids (Mel, Ed, Stella) do NOT look okay and Galahad's face made me scream "WHO DREW THIS AND WHY WAS THIS PICTURE ALLOWED TO EXIST?!?!?!" Because compared to the AV1 faceset, Galahad's AV3 face look hideous. There's a few peeps here in the forums who draw better than that. And the TLO peeps... June and Yvette looks so derpy and only Spook had looked great. Person was apparently not very good at drawing women back when he/she was commissioned. If only Amanda had gotten hold of Saehral from the first time round *sigh* Kinda made me wish Amanda went through with the Gyendal-joins-Mel's-party plot all over again. Because he'd have gotten a faceset and I want to see that ![]() I understood the decision of bringing back the twins. A poll was set up in Facebook and a gazillion people asked for Uma and Nox to return, so Amanda listened to the crowds. And the minority community who doesn't like this has to put up with it.

I wonder why didn't she stick with the same artist like in AV1.
Anyway I'm glad that there are a few people that I respect as members and AV lovers that share my opinion. And yeah those two are so overrated. I was hoping to see more about the mysterious druids that we somehow lost them in AV1 and believe me even if the story maybe somehow revolves around them it won't be good to see those two overrated characters in that kind of a story..I just hope Amanda knows what she's doing, nothing else. I guess you can say that I'm a bit worried.

The artist for the AV1 realism facesets got famous and is probably too busy/too expensive to hire now, and I'm not sure what's up with the anime-style version artist.
In AV3 there were 4 different artists doing the facesets, so... One person did Te'i and Galaha, one did the humans + Stella + Ulf, one for TLO's new peeps, and one for TDP. If Amanda could just steal Saehral away from Indy for a bit to draw the new AV's facesets I'm going to be very happy I keep repeating myself over and over, but seriously! Pretty art! I wants! Re Uma and Nox: You know, it might actually be interesting to see Uma and Nox get involved with daevas and druids. Just imagine the hijinks that could happen... Oh wait, I'm still seeing it through the bias of my crackAU-tinted lenses where Uma is evil and crack pairings happen. My bad In a more seriosu note, there's too little we know about Uma and Nox to know how good or bad anything will be, so I have no real comment yet. I'm just hoping there's no "relying on familiarity" and the character development gets cut short. I mean, I know the screaming fans will be "ZOMG UMA N NOX R TEH AWSUM 4EVUH!!!" and any borderline-funny dialogue they make already makes them happy. Druids returning is forever a plus. Daevas returning even more plus. Armaiti and Vohu Manah must have been AWOL for so long that their shrines are destroyed. We see too little of Ghed'ahre so there's no telling if Rashnu is still around or not. I mean, he doesn't seem to be active around Ghed'ahre because nobody noticed that he's been attacked by Zarich in AV1 and NOBODY MENTIONED HIM AT ALL IN AV3 Aveyond was near-destroyed as per AV2 and got restructured as per AV3 so also no telling what happened to Devin and Vata. Ditto Dreamland and Talia.Those druids are supposedly so important that they had to be taken out first or else they would hinder the "taking over the world" thing Ahriman got going, but as per AV3 2 has gone AWOL and nobody cares. Unless it meant that they're safe and just wandered off elsewhere, bad continuity is bad, yo. The daevas are supposedly dead or whatever (bad ending says they're destroyed) but I'm sure a little ret-con can fix it. There's a lot of stuff that have lame explanation but we just rolled with them no probs. Heck, I would even accept an explanation that "the daevas are a group of seven, each with a specific role, and they always have the same names based on the duties they fulfill". That would mean the new daeva group would look different, but if that's what it takes to bring them back, I will take whatever I can get dangit!

What makes you say those druids were taken out first? Everyone left that meeting around about the same time. Just because they were rescued first, doesn't mean they were taken out first.

My problem Aveyond series is that, despite being set in the same universe (though in different timelines), too many changes happened in-between the games, and such events is never mentioned. Cities disappearing then reappearing on maps, Druids and nymphs disappearing, lands/islands shift all over the place, etc... Though when the people don't notice the lands being attacked by demons, they're probably too dumb to know what happens to the shape of the landmasses.
I also have a problem with the villains' logic of "taking over the world", because in spite of their power and ambition, the action they take is plain stupid. Like the druids and nymphs in AV 1 and 2, for instance; why can't the big bad just kill them instead of simply taking their souls or keeping them captive? And if Ahriman wanted to take over the world that badly, he'd have the daevas go after the rulers in Arishta once they're done with the druid. What's the use of them sitting idly guarding a stupid ball of soul? Why wait for the heroes to get stronger and defeat them one by one, when they could have just grouped together? And where does it say that the daevas were destroyed? I thought they were simply sent to demon realm or something because Elini could still summon them. Unless the demon realm is inside Ahriman and it shatters when he's killed with the sword of shadows or something- which doesn't make sense. Re facesets: Why don't you volunteer to draw the facesets, D_A? ![]()

@shaz: Huh? Who left the meeting? What meeting? Were there any more people we needed to rescue? I'm not understanding your reply, shaz
![]() Okay, that may have been bad wording on my part (dang language). I meant that Dameon said that getting rid of the druids is a bigger priority than obliterating the islands. I came to the conclusion that attempting to obliterate the islands will not succeed so long as the druids were there, hence the need of removing them before doing anything else. @rogue: I did mention that I had no idea where the "anime" faceset artist went. Oh, I did offer my services to Amanda once, and I mentioned I'm always happy to be commissioned to draw facesets. Even for free. I do that all the time anyway (I made pointless King Bryce and Queen Amanda facesets just for a one-time use). But I'm not that vain to advertize myself over and over Daevas being sent over to the Demon Realm is simply a preferred fan-explanation. All the early daevas fics of ye olde times did this, and somehow it just stuck to everyone. The only other explanation ot this was that Summoners have an alternate-dimension "cage" of some sorts to store her creatures in, and that's where Elini summons her critters from. The bad ending in AV1 has this to say: "Although the Daevas were destroyed, Ahriman used his new pets to spread his destruction." Destroyed = dead, no? When I talked to Amanda about "if daevas = dead --> how does Elini's summoning work?", we did somehow bring up the possibility of the daevas' spirits floating around in deep space like Ahriman and there's a chance of them regaining bodies, but that's just an off-hand remark that may or may not mean anything. Oh, yeah, entire mountains getting flattened and entire regions of land having possibly drowned climates rapidly changing and pieces of land breaking off and so on and so forth.

@theAdept_Rogue
It's been said a few times that when a city 'disappears', it's not really gone. It's just not important to the plot, so it's not shown. You can't really expect every city that was in the previous game to be in the next game. As for the druids and nymphs, I'd suspect there still around, just the same with the cities. They aren't important to the plot, so they aren't shown or mentioned.

You can't really expect every city that was in the previous game to be in the next game. If it still exist, I don't see why not. Most of the time it's just a matter of the names of the places anyway. Saying that a city should be omitted from the map just because it's not important is almost the same with saying that a dungeon level should be removed because there's no quests there. And "important" people disappearing and not mentioned because they hold no importance... With that logic, that means that any villagers/town citizens, nobles, royals that doesn't give quests should just be removed because they have no importance in the plot, and is just blocking your way. Bunnies, squirrels, birds and other "unfightable" creatures also counts. @d_a: I guess you edited the same moment when I post.

@Mopiece: But Sedona, once in the North-west area of Western Isle, now has relocated to somewhere near the South part of the island. The entire Lowlands have vanished, unless there's actually unseen space between the forest near Sedona and the place we park the boat at.
@Rogue: My post already had the bit about the anime faceset artist thing from the beginning. It's short, so it's easy to miss.

@theAdept_Rogue
Because there isn't room for everything. And no it's not like saying we should remove a dungeon level because there is no quests there. The dungeon level will have something to do with the plot. Why would it be removed? As for the people, now you're just being a tad ridiculous/naive. Of course the NPCs are needed to fill the cities and towns. Are they essential to the plot? No. But unless it's a ghost town, it doesn't make sense for there not to be people there. As for the previous druids and nymphs, if weren't visiting the places where they were, then why would they be included? If they have nothing to add to the game, then why include them? Yes, it'd be nice to see them again, but if they add nothing to the game, it doesn't make sense for them to be there. @d_a As for Sedona, it could have just moved. That's one of the few places where things should have been explained.

@Mopiece: That... makes sense considering Clearwater that used to be to the East of Sedona suddenly is located to the north of it.
@Rogue: You know, Ahriman's orders was for the daevas to go capture the druids, but didn't give any further instructions. So... The daevas are stupid for sitting around doing nothing, and Ahriman is stupid for not hounding after them and telling them to do something else.

Let's imagine, for a second, what would happen if we added every city that had ever appeared in a certain area in any Aveyond game, to the current Aveyond game, just because we want something to happen in a different part of that same area ...
"Why is it taking so long to make?" "Why is the download so big? It's taking forever to get the game!" "Why are the cities so boring? What's the point of putting them in the game if we're not going to have anything to do in them?" "Why are most of the places in the new game just a rehash of the same places in the old games? Why don't you stop being lazy and add new stuff?" (Please don't say this won't happen, because it already happens with the music - new places have new music, but everyone still gripes that "old" music has been used for places from previous games) The fact is ... the new games have their own story and their own places. If we had to include all the other cities that were ever nearby, just to prove they still exist, the game would take a whole lot longer to create, and the whole experience would be watered down because there's so much unnecessary stuff. So, you'll just have to believe us when we say that just because a place hasn't been included in the latest game, doesn't mean it no longer exists. ![]() Quote:
This would be entirely acceptable, considering the "if it's not relevant to the current game, you won't see it" line of reasoning.

Would be nice if people bring up druids at some point. Or at least have something written in books. The villagers in AV1 seem to think they're pretty important and Indra says that they're "inherent to [their] destruction".
Then again, the druids seem to be important because they're like higher-level priests and priestesses and is "closer to gods" than regular priests and priestesses. There only seemed to be one goddess that everyone all over the world worships in AV3 whereas there's a whole bunch of gods being mentioned in AV1. Is there a mass religious revolution that happened between AV1 and 3? And thus the druids just resign from their positions because they're no longer necessary? I still don't know what the druids function as, other than being the guardian of the Sword of Shadows.

I guess I'm one of the people who fall into the category of 'I'm happy with anything?'. Lol, maybe I'm easy to please? Nah. Amanda's games have always been awesome in my book.
AV1 I was...sort of still a kid so I used to get some nightmares about Ahriman. (Go on, laugh. ) And when Rhen was a slave, I felt like I really was a slave too and started talking like a slave to my family. but enough of that. I'm sure Amanda knows what she's doing and she has to listen to the majority of the fans. And regarding the towns and such like Shaz said you can't possibly add everything. O_O I mean, I understand it would be nice to see the towns but having quests in the same town is kinda boring to me. So I like the fact that there are new towns. ^^ I'm fine with Uma and Nox being there; fine with them not being there. EDIT: Oh oh can we have Candar back please? :3 I LOVED THAT TOWN! And, if its possible, the Druids too. But, like I said, I'm happy with anything cuz knowing its Amanda, I know the game will be good one way or the other. I have faith in Amanda.
