How many times do I need to tell people to not call me "daeva"?

Re Bleach: Wellp, just because it's ending doesn't mean it's ending quickly. This IS the final "arc", but you betcha it's gonna be about the same length as the Aizen arc. You can't rush an arc to finish THAT quickly. I'm sure they're gonna draw this out as much as they can get, but it's still supposedly the final battle of the manga. Once this big one ends, it ends.

Re myth: I personally think just using the names without the attached mythology is not myth-butchery, though it might make people feel a little iffy. I did say that there's a difference between just using the names and the characters had nothing to do with their namesakes, and taking huge chunks of the mythology and warping them to suit your own whims.

I have beef against stories that thinks they're still making an adaptation of so and so myth, while they've actually gone on to make something else entirely. This is not a myth, but still. The Phantom of the Opera otome game has taken the story and ran off to Wonderland with it, and somewhere along the way it got twisted and warped and squashed. So... there's no real point for the Phantom to be lurking underground except just to follow the canon, because he apparently could perform illusions so well he could fix his face and walk about in daylight. The scar under his mask is not even bad in the slightest that there's no real need for him to hide his face at all. People might point and look aghast and stuff, but it's not something that would make people run and scream in horror. The Opera issue ended up being about this secret society of sorts and there's murder and secret plots and all sorts of crazy hijinks that I really don't understand. The basic premise of the Phantom story got lost and it could stand on its own as an original story without all the Phantom tie-ins. E.g: make it just a thriller mystery set in an opera house with original characters.

This goes beyond myth in manga now, but more general "adaptation" talk, but manga/anime is always the biggest culprit of Fladerization when adapting something, so... I like it for adaptations to stick true to its source, especially if the source has a specific theme/moral going on. Like, Alice in Wonderland is a zany, pointless adventure. You can't do wrong with it. Phantom of the Opera is big on music, so if you ditch that you might as well throw the entire story out the window. Ditto Phantom's deformity. It's a very big issue that ties very much with the music thing. Lose 'em and story's lost its purpose and you might as well call it an entirely new story.

Re Eve: Not for me. God is not a man who can fall in love with one specific woman. Heck, considering HE made the women... That's just dumb. God having the Pygmalion complex is just so wrong to me it only makes me mad. It's not sweet, it's using people from a religion and willy-nilly tossing them into a story just to make it cool.

Christianity has been the brunt of every single joke forever it's hard to get all up in arms about it without causing people to laugh and say "Look at those over-sensitive, uptight bunch". While Muslims and Hindu and Buddhists are allowed to flail and pitch a fit when someone from their religion got desecrated. There's a kerfuffle over Prophet Muhammad's image few years back and the ones responsible was actually dealt with (or so I hear).

Anyways, yeah, I saw that POTO game you've posted. Normally, I just tend to ignore stories that gets butchered. But since those kinda game's objective is to find 'Mr Right', then I'm willing to take a blind eye at the butchering and just focus on the boizzzz.

What's pygmalion complex? I must admit that I have a rather... weird view on love. It's like a fusion of Catawba the Perverse Ideologue and North. (which you'll only get if you play TTHW *coughs*)

Just found out that Claymore manga hasn't ended after all.

The author/mangaka made a mistake in the previous chapter by writing "The End", and the scanlator took it seriously. Anyway, the latest chapter (127) is uploaded in MangaHere, though whoever did the translations definitely sucks at English.

I sometimes don't mind butchery, like what game developers did to the Three Musketeers story when they made a romance game out of it (D'Artagnan is a girl, there's magic super powerful items and demons and stuff). Maybe I just care because I used to be that invested in the Phantom story. The story to me is almost about how music can be so powerful it's almost like magic. The music got nigh forgotten in the various "paths" and the Phantom's deformity is just a huge knife scar that he don't need the mask or lurk in the underground caverns. I don't care what they did in the other paths. It's the Phantom's story that really bugs me the most.

Anyways. Enough game talk.

I stumbled across a weird ecchi/hentai manga where Theseus somehow became pregnant by the minotaur and gave birth from his butt. I was like
I don't know how browsing for game screenshots led me to that scary hentai, and I should've taken note of the website so I know what site to avoid next time it pops up in the search result.

The new episode was filled with funny parts. Meelo crawling over his dad's head to answer the phone. He said:
"It's six in the morning! This better be good!"

Then in Mako and Bolin's cell they show Bolin at a pipe with his brother saying:
"Are you done yet?"
Then Lin enters to bust them out and Bolin says:
"Can I have some privacy here?"
As he exits the cell Lin Metalbends Bolin's zipper up and told him his fly was down. It led to a blushing Bolin.

Anyways. I was up at youtube hunting down anime transformations and I discovered a super sparkly magical BOY transformation at one point, and I was like "LOLwut Japan should I even be surprised anymore?"

This reminds me of that one discussion on Facebook re the otome game Pirates in Love. Guh, can I talk otome game here? It's about the art style, not the gameplay, so... Anyways. Someone was wondering why this black guy looks like this in the original Japanese. My reply was "because the Japanese peeps love fruity sparkly boys" and the Western community generally prefers manly men.

That sparkly transformation for a MAN really confirms that

Is that even any surprise, though? Even without seeing that sparkly boy transformation, it should be clear that most, if not all, male protagonists in Japanese fiction (Final Fantasy comes into mind) are pretty enough disguise as a girl and get away with it; while if you see Western comics like Marvel, most of the guys are hunky, beefy, Mr. Macho- while the exceptions are generally seen as nerds/geeks, fragile speedster or squishy wizards.

@Rogue: I mentioned it because, as proven by that Facebook conversation that popped up, some people are NOT AWARE of it. They see it all the time and they still don't get it.

I'm not particularly surprised, but us two sort of grew with anime and manga, no? With the exception of Disney and some other miscellaneous stuff, but at least for me manga and anime has a bigger impact than Disney. Artistically anyway.

Okay to admit. I am a little. I got hooked when I saw the prequel (ATLA) (saw it when it first aired so I remember Nick Guy destroying the ATLA tape out of excitement, He destroyed the 2nd copy, then it played) and got re-hooked when LoK was released. I am hooked for life! XD The gags are just priceless. The Sokkasm kills me from the old. Bolin and Meelo just steal the spot light in the new!

@D_A: I guess those people aren't as exposed to manga/anime as much as we are, yes?

Anyway, I agree that I prefer Final Fantasy/Lineage/Aion/Granado Espada-style drawing/animation rather than the cartoon-y stuffs Disney/Pixar/DreamWork's come up with. I have to admit that the West have better Special effects and 3D when it comes to actual movies, though.

@Rogue: So do I. And yet anime is still considered a niche anywhere here while Disney/Pixar/Dreamworks are mainstream *sigh* It's practically a miracle they were showing Arietty and Pokemon movie on cinemas.

Yeah, so the America has the tech and all that wahzoo to make all the pretty stuff, but I still prefer Final Fantasy style more. I mean, when I go watch 3D movies in cinemas, I go "OOOOH, pretty!", but afterwards I will be "oh okay, whatever". Whereas with anime and manga, when I get interested I Google the heck out of it

I don't know how anime won over Disney, because I only got into anime later and even then I still watch Disney movies over and over.

ETA: I found a manga called "Boku no Chopin". It's about Franz Liszt, Chopin, Mendelssohn, and Schumann. As in, THE classical pianists of ye olde times. I don't even. All bishounen'd of course, Derrrp.

It's made by mangaka Kotori Momoyuki who did "How to Make a Prince", "Pink Innocent", and "Million Girl". Her art style has gone bonkers and you totally can't recognize that it's hers. Instead of the finely-drawn hairs and eyes and sparkly effects she used to do, the characters has a lot of heavy black fills and far simpler shading. And I smell yaoi. It almost looks like she's trying to be Toboso Yana or something I mean, I know she's been sliding to the simple-lineart-with-dark-shading style since Million Girl, but it's still lighter and retains a little of her old sparkly style.

In another news, in Detective Conan, Bourbon is revealed! It's Amuro, the guy who insisted to become Kogoro's "apprentice". Sera turns out to be Shuuichi Akai's sister/junior or something, because she calls him "Shuu-nii". Now only Subaru is still mysterious. Hmm...

The finale aired Saturday and my jaw was dropped through out the whole thing! WATCH IT!!! It will make your mind implode from the shocking things that happen!
