ETA: I found this VERY INTERESTING fantasy manga called Maoyuu Maou Yuusha - Kono Watashi no Mono Tonare, Yuusha yo Kotowaru!. Lengthy title, I know. Basically the story premise is that your usual defeat-evil-demons RPG war turns out to make things better for both human and demon world, so the demon queen proposes an alliance with the hero.

It's interesting because apparently "demons did it!" became an excuse for bad decision on the part of the rulers. E.g: "Evil demons made the sky dark and the environment is destroyed" --> An excuse for air pollution caused by failed industry revolution.

The live action of Mirai Nikki is totally ridiculous. I feel bad for the actors and actresses that needs to run around.

Kuchiki Byakuya is dead. A million fangirls are crying. Oh look, spoiler. Anyone here still cares enough about Bleach to feel spoiled? I wonder if this is just another trick Kubo pulled like he did with Matsumoto in the Aizen battle or if it's for real...

I never care about fictional characters' death, and, with Bleach, I don't care if Tite Kubo just drop an entire time bomb in the universe and kill off the whole cast.

Forgive me if I'm pointing out the obvious, but I hate the fact that almost every main characters who gets involved in the battle, regardless their personalities or priorities, would, in the middle of the fight, lecture the enemy about details of what their abilities can do, or why they could evade an enemy's attack when no others could... or something like that.

It also irritates me that, despite the main setting being a battle, most of the casts fight one-on-one (the only exception are mook fights), as if they're in a last-man-standing tournament or something. The 'I am Not Left-Handed' trope coming into play in almost every major battle is getting really old and boring too.

((Note: Before accusing me of making invalid criticisms because I have never made previous mention of ever reading the manga or watched the anime, I'd just mention that I have read the manga recently. The school library had volumes 1-34, and I've read them all, plus around 50 additional chapter from online scanlations))

Anyway, it seems that Bleach had lost its 2nd place in popularity ranking to Fairy Tail (according to MangaHere anyway), for which I am glad.

Neither do I care, hence the "by the way the sky is blue" way I said it. I just mentioned it because Byakuya is a major character.

It will end with Ichigo saving the day as per usual. I'm not even in suspense when that stupid orange-haired Stu is locked up in a cage. He'll break loose somehow and save everyone with a Deus Ex Machina skill and then the darn story will end. I just wish it would HURRY UP. If everyone dying is what it takes, then DIE already!

I'm catching up on Naruto now. Bzzzzzzzzzzzz.... 500-or-so chapters...

The only character death that I've cared for was Kakashi, and that's that. Like, I can like a manga, but now it just seems I can't be bothered to care for anyone anymore.

Sometimes, when it's near the end, the author would start killing people for realz just coz *shrug* Oh well, you never know.

Re Bleach: Despite knowing it would never happen, and despite having stop reading Bleach I keep on wishing that the series would end with Ichigo's horrible, irriversible death. He's practically the least likable character among all the casts, and he is the protagonist.

Another thing that really irritate me about the series is the sheer amount of sexist subtext it contains. It seems that Kubo is purposely withholding a complete victory for a female character against male. For example, the first time Ichigo encountered Byakuya in the soul society, he still hasn't mastered his Bankai and would surely die; Yoruichi comes in and stop the fight, but instead of fighting Byakuya herself, she takes Ichigo, run off somewhere, and train him so he could defeat Byakuya.

Then, in the rescue-Orihime-Arc, Ichigo had just barely won his battle against Espada no.6, when a much stronger Espada no.5 shows up. Then Nel, the little girl he had been traveling with, revealed to be a former Espada no.3, regains her true form and power and proceeds to fight the Espada, but just a moment before she could finish him off, Kubo had to pull of some sort of Diabolus Ex Machina that reverts Nel back into a powerless little girl so the spotlight could go to the very male Kenpachi Zaraki. Also, when Rukia fights against Espada No.9, she won, but almost get killed for that one victory.

This happens again in the Fullbring arc. Rukia was the only one of the shinigami who got KO'd by the Fullbringer she fought and Byakuya had to haul her to safety. The kicker here? SHE'S THE ONLY FEMALE SHINIGAMI IN THE TEAM. I'd have been more lenient if, say, Rangiku was there too and she whacked HER opponent to all heck. Then I can pass it off as Rukia being so unlucky to have an opponent stronger than her. But no. Rukia's the only girl and she's the only one who got her butt kicked. Veeeeeery nice of you there, Kubo.

Ichigo is actually not that bad at first, but he becomes more and more unbearable since his chronic hero syndrome is more pronounced as the series pass. The annoying proportion is taken to unbelievable levels when you realize he doesn't take the other people's feelings into consideration when he start his heroic antics. He seem to continually be under the impression that his friends are 'people who he needs to protect' and thus couldn't achieve/do anything on their own.

When he went to rescue Rukia in the society, there's this conversation between the two that pretty much sums up Ichigo's opinion of his friends (not in exact words):

Rukia: "You're not taking the rescuee's feelings into consideration? What kind of a rescue mission is this?"
Ichigo: "Shut up, you're a victim and you should be crying 'help! help!'"

The panel where the conversation takes place is not intended to be taken seriously, but that's the point where I started hating this !$$%# we're supposed to see as a hero.

I haven't read most of the stuff you listed, so I can't say about them. However, the majority of shonen manga are sexist and only a small handful aren't. I stopped paying attention because I'll only drive myself insane pointing out the bad instances and I don't care enough to complain.

Bleach is one of the more obvious ones. Others, are more subtle, but it's still there.

Well, the more they wave around their sexist banner, the more I'd complain. Sure, Japanese have their own customs and gender stereotypes which may not be as acceptable to other community, and sure, they have every right to express those beliefs and be proud of them. But for goodness' sake, they do not need to paint it on a large, neon sign, and wave it in people's faces and shove it down their throats!

Weeeeeelllpp.... It's a case of them totally not realizing what they're doing, really. Most of them honestly think that their women character are strong characters who hold up their own next to the men while the more critical readers see that it's not the case.

So some of them ARE sexist creeps who are consciously waving around their offending beliefs in garish neon in our faces, and then there's those who has "I AM IGNORANT" plastered all over them. Internalized sexism is hard to get away from.

ETA: I don't know how I stumbled across this manhwa called A Fairytale for the Demon Lord, but it was a great read! It's very interesting, and the art's pretty cool. It's about a knight who kills a Demon Lord to save a princess... OR IS IT REALLY? There's so many layers of tangled webs of plot in the story.

BTW is it just me or is Norse myth really THAT popular with Korean peeps. I mean, maybe because Ragnarok was a huge boom that it might seem to me Norse myth-inspired stuff are everywhere, so...
