Re-reading the latest chapters of Saiyuki Reload Blast, and it just occurred to me, but why does no one seem to raise any concerns or questions about Sharak Sanzo being female?
No, this is not related with the sexist rant in my previous posts. But it was established in the earlier chapters of Gensomaden that females are barred from the Buddhist monasteries, so it really doesn't make sense that nobody (even Sanzo) say anything about this issue.

I don't remember the thing about women being barred from the temples, so maybe I just have faulty memories.
Probably Minekura forgot? Or it will be dealt with later.

Well, I remember that in one of the earlier volumes, the group was traveling in a mountain area and got a lodging in a Buddhist temple. When Gojyo asked if there are any girls around, the priests' reactions were like "Women in the temple? Outrageous!" or something of the like. I don't really remember the details though

Was it the one where the axe-arm youkai attacked? Because in that case I think it was just to show that that one temple was being so overly uptight that even Koumyou Sanzo can't stand them *shrug*

I watched Teen Titans (Forces of Nature) and was laughing when Beast Boy was explaining the prank Cyborg did to him (he put red dye in his shampoo and he turned brown for a week). It was hilarious to see him that way in the flashback cause it was done in Super Deformed/Chibi.

Ho~~ Webcomics.
*** I am engrossed with Magician. Anyone here heard of it? Initially, I didn't care much about the art. But it gets better. And the plot too. It gets better and better. And all the pages are colored! ALL of them! http://mangafox.me/manga/magician_kim_sarae/ Edit: I should also mention that it has a classic RPG-ish story line. It has a serious tone, for the most part, comedy at appropriate time. And Guilds... though only one Guild is mentioned so far. Gosh, I have lots to say about this but I know I have to stop before I bore you guys... or spilling out spoilers. lol

Kim Sarae's Magician! I used to read it, then I got busy and stopped
Edermask is cute, LOL. He's the only reason I kept reading. I didn't care for either of the brats or the plot that doesn't seem to go anywhere quick enough. It's really getting boring reading it and I don't have much patience. If a story does not become interesting quick enough, I ditch it *sulk*

hohoho...
So I wasn't the only one who thinks that Edermask is cute. That, and Dirt too, which keeps me reading. Up till one point I just have to read it while I was doing night duties. lol Part 1 is fun. Part 2 is... words. Lots of words. I am hoping the plot picks up soon. :/

Oh look, I forgot who Dirt is. Is it that doofus thief guy who followed them around?
The brats aren't particularly good-looking and seriously... they're not interesting people either. And I must have been reading too much romance lately because I'm starting to ship Edermask with that red-haired girl (I forgot her name) ![]()

haha
Iremi is the red-haired girl. Enzu is the sword kid. Dirt is the thief dude. Edermask is Edermask. And some other supporting characters. I was so wanting for an update that I looked through the Korean forums. And then I clicked at a random link, i.e the top-most link which I presume is the latest release of the chapter (me no understand Korean). Though it's in a language I don't understand I saw something that I quickly regretted clinking at the link. Almost had a mini heart attack. But it makes me so happy knowing that there are many more chapters to come which just need to be translated, that is. Perseverance, girl. Perseverance. lol

@Bemused: What... did you see pr0n by accident or something?
![]() ------------------------------------- So... I was poking around Korra. I still don't know where to catch up on the episodes, so I settled with short clips I managed to find and fanstuff. You have no idea how much info fanstuff can have. I caught up on the old Last Airbender with just wiki and fanstuffs. Anyways. Noatak/Amon and Tarrlok are SO TOTALLY Zuko and Azula all over again. Horrid father with issues, mother that never quite managed to balance it out (can't blame Ursa for being gone, but that's beside the point). Except Noatak and Tarrlok never got redeemed. That double-suicide is not redemption. I feel so horrible for them. Also, unfortunate implications AHOY! Just look at what happened. - Azula: Broke down and went insane, prison - Zuko: Saw his mistakes and redeemed himself - Tarrlok: Blew himself up - Noatak: Got blown up along with Tarrlok As I said above, they're all in the same boat, and yet only Zuko managed to change for the better. Zuko, a pale-skinned dude. The woman and the dark skinned men met with terrible ends. It's too soon to call foul to Korra yet because ANYTHING could happen in season 2, but if Tarrlok and/or Noatak didn't return, I will definitely call foul. Unconscious internalized sexism and racism are still sexism and racism even if the person doesn't realize it. And that whole Equalist kerfuffle sound like it was rather badly done. I mean, it's a reasonable revolution cause. But they way it's done? It's like... Benders lost their bending? Oh boohoohoo, how terrible, how horrid, what a disaster, it's the end of the world! While non-benders have always managed just fine without bending. Seems like ableism to me. Still, I won't judge based on reviews and comments. Maybe there's going to be some explanation on how bending is so much tied to one's spirit/soul/life and that for a bender to have his/her bending take is akin to having a part of his/her soul being taken away/killed. If not? Then I shall reject their canon and replace it with my own like I always do. Also, Makorra is over-rated and failing. Seriously, Bryke. What WERE you thinking? Were you guys trying to compensate for Zutara or what? Because if you are, then you're doing it wrong, man. It's more like Kataang... but the dude is a Firebender. Pah. Give me some waterbender loving Tahnorra, Amorra (amor? LOL such a fitting pairing name), Korrlok FTW ![]()

Bad books intrigue me. Really. When I heard that the novel Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick had a graphic novel, I had to pick it up. Just like I did with the Twilight one.
They had three different artists drawing random pages and I can TELL. The art style would change quite drastically from all out of a sudden, and you'll know it's the other artist drawing. They dump every single page with heavy grey textures that really don't need to be there. It was HORRIBLE. My poor poor eyes. Why oh why did they do this??? Were they under-budgeted? I mean, I can appreciate bad story if the art is decent. The Twilight one? It had decent art. I enjoyed looking at the pictures. They're pretty bizarre, but still okay to my manga-addled vision. Hush Hush was... well... I almost regret buying it.

Change 123
Interesting manga about a girl with multiple personality disorder. I have only read through a few pages. It looks promising. ^_^

^ I've seen many manga with similar premise and similar-sounding titles that it often confuse me.
Don't know if I've mentioned this, but I've started to read this manga called Hell's Kitchen, which revolves around some average Joe student with no talent or specialties, who somehow gets involved with a demon and enters the world of cooking. It's updated monthly, having only 11 chapters so far; the drawing is not exactly good, but the story is hilarious.

Change 123
a.k.a ちぇんじひふみ; ちぇんじ123; 变身123; Change Hifumi; Change123 =P Oh, this is a much chopped up summary from MangaFox: Motoko Gettou, orphaned at an early age after the death of her mother, was taken in by her "three fathers," each a master of a different style of martial arts... In order to cope with her fathers' incredibly intensive training methods, she developed multiple personalities, each with a different martial specialty. But what happens if none of them can beat her opponent on their own? Hmm... less confused now? ![]() Think I read Hell's Kitchen before. Couldn't remember the story. Might read it again some time later. ^_^
