Agreed. Except in most shoujo manga you can get away with having a really bad plot because of pretty art and also the fact that it isn't supposed to be a literary masterpiece. That's why Meyer fails.

On an unrelated note: Why is some weird incest story becoming an anime? O_o

Incest will always pop up somewhere in anime/manga. It's just a taboo that always arouses both disgust and fascination - a good way to draw attention, basically.

Eh, yeah... Ditto KTC. I usually ignore incest so long as the rest of the story works well, but I haven't really followed anything involving incest yet so I can't really judge.

I don't mind incest. I find nothing weird about it. I don't get why people get shocked about it when they don't even bat an eyelid about gays. Love is love. Anyways...

I didn't come across many mangas/anime that had incest in it except for Ludwig Kakumei (the Snow White one).

Hey, there was quite clearly explained that Kiriyama's brain was quite sevearly damaged in the accident and it inlfuenced his emotional behaviour (or the lack of it). That made his painful death quite hard for me... That's because in the movie Kiriyama just plays for fun but in the manga he just is emotionally empty and cannot feel anything and wants to win. But I was a little disappointed in Mitsuko's death

Yeah, I know about the brain damage but I dunno... I still wasn't satisfied. I mean, he goes on killing his classmates and the author just says it's because of an accident and a brain damage. Even though he feels nothing doesn't mean he should be in a killing spree.

Well, there are many flashbacks where Kiriyama injures badly many of his classmates and others. I mean, he dug the karate master's eyeball out, so killing the classmates hardly goes further than that It was the only part I couldn't really read (and look at). No problem with the killing but digging out an eyeball... *goes to the bathroom*

@ivana: I have issues with incest because it often means an adult relative + kid having non-consensual sex or rape/abuse. There's nothing 'loving' about such a relationship.

Add to the incest issues would be inbreeding. Chances of defective offspring goes way up the closer the two persons are.

Gay couples on the other hand or two persons who have consensual sex hence there's no issue.

While none of these issues generally appear in anime/manga, they haunt me enough that I can't view incest without getting uncomfortable.

I think the only reasons I can watch Candy Boy (Weird title name since there's no candy or boy involved lol) without the queasy feelings is that the anime makes it very clear its completely consensual, loving, and that both persons involved are women.

Grimm Fairy Tales- Fairy tales with a twist. good art. Something resembling a continuous plot to link it all up together = yay. (mostly reading it for the retellings and artwork ;3)

Rape = A non-consensual sexual intercourse with another person.

incest: I know its doesn't mean automatically. That's why I said often. Rarely does one ever hear of actual consensual incest stories on the news here. Actually I don't think one has ever appeared on the news here come to think of it. The non consensual ones on the other hand get heard occasionally.

I don't really mind incest in anime that much, but that anime I was referring to has a terrible plot. So I was more bothered about the plot.

Anyway, the last release of the Umineko series revealed that the female(?) lead was in reality a product of incest, so...

The only anime/manga I've seen that involves incest that isn't abuse/rape is Vampire Knight... I guess. I dunno, is Kaname and Yuuki considered incest?

My all time favorite anime/manga is Detective Conan! I have all manga files here in my PC... I have read all files.. watch all episodes... well even the unsubbed... I also read the novels... 3 of them only.. i haven't read "The Witch of Ejinbara" and "The Legend of the Buried Treasure of Koshu" The Special Mangas.. i have read 15 of them so far... i have watched all movies including the live actions.. i haven't played any DC games though.. Also a little bit of Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach.

Just read Apothecarius Argentum... Well, what has been released anyway. The company that released it went out of business... and there is no one scanlating it that I can find. I am very upset, because while the manga is good, I don't think it'll get picked up again. I want to know how it ends!!

Also started Kimi Ni Todoke. I'm quite enjoying it, keeping updated on the manga and anime. The only problem I have with the anime is at some points it seems to go very slowly, but it's still enjoyable. Part of my problem is probably that I had just read the manga the same day I started the anime, so I was watching what I just read.

Hmm... Also just read High School Debut and I've started The Bride of the Water God. Planning on reading Gokinjo Monogatari, Paradise Kiss, and maybe Nana at some point.
