Hi folks, I've been concerned about the health of the community for a couple of months and after chatting with several new members, I learned that the community feels hostile to them.

To compound the problem, more than half of the moderators have drifted away from the site for various reasons. This has left the site with a skeleton staff to tend to the community, and burnout is apparent among the moderators.

So with that said, I've made some changes in management. I've brought in fresh faces, folks who are on the site regularly, and given a break to mods who have been working overtime.

So with that said, I would like to announce that the following citizens have become moderators:

Aislingyngaio
Oracle
Pandaba

KTC and Nick are off duty for a couple of months. Tiniponi will also be absent for another month.

Hopefully the change will give old and new moderators a better opportunity to relax and enjoy the community.

To the retiring mods, you have put in great efforts for the community and that's been very much appreciated. I hope you benefit from having some time off from the extra duties.

I'm also leaving the community, i havnt really felt connected in a long time. this will give me the ability to leave the community and not feel like i need to still be around. sentimental value shouldnt be my reason for sticking around. i may be back months from now to release a game, we'll see.

Yep, Phoenix is busy with real life. She should be back next month.

I spoke with phoenixgirl on IM yesterday, I think she will be back by around this weekend. Possibly right on her or my birthday I believe.

I do have a question, though, about something Amanda said. She said the community feels hostile to some people. Granted, I haven't been very active lately, but from what I have seen, I wouldn't call the community "hostile." Much to the contrary, I'd say the community is usually pretty welcoming. :/
