Thank you Oracle for adding new members to the member list. @ Emma, Twilight will be on the poll so make sure you vote @S_ty you have been added to the member list. @Ah Basset you don’t have to join in on any books you don’t want to. But I have to say the Pullman books would make for some interesting discussions/debates. Maybe too heated for AM though, I’m not sure. Welcome to the group Emma, S_ty and Basset ![]()

I guess so... I'd just be incredibly reluctant to give him any of my money. I'd have to get the book from the library. Though I would be interested in any good debate.

@lrcy The book club is growing. It will be great if it just continues to grow. The third book is yet to be decided. I'm trying to choose which books out of everyones suggestions to put on a poll. I will be posting a poll this weekend or this coming week where members can vote on what they want to read next. The book with the most votes will be the third book, the book with the second most votes will be the forth book, and so on. If a book gets no votes at all it will probably be taken off the list. So everyone make sure to vote!! I'll try to send out PM's to everyone on the member list to let them know when the poll is up.
@Basset the dark materials set completly shocked me to be honest. I never heard of them until I saw the golden compass movie trailer so I looked into the book and bought the trilogy. The first book isn't so bad on part of bashing religion but when I got into the second book my mouth kind of hung open at parts and I just kept thinking 'I can't believe he's (pullman) going there" XD I think a lot of parents that took there kids to see that 'innocent' fantasy film the golden compass will be surprised if they make the sequal (the subtle knife) into a movie.

the golden compass film was nothing like the book
i doubt they will make the subtle knife into a movie cause uasually they dont with trilogies the subtle is only like pt.1 of a second story of the trilogy cause it does not hav a tru ending like in the pirates of the carribean movies where the second movie doesnt hve an actual ending

@lrcy I haven't watched the golden compass movie yet, but that's interesting that it isn't like the book at all.
But I disagree that the thought of making the next book into a movie won't come across any one's minds. It's always a possibility. Movies are all about trilogies + these days. Look at the Harry Potter movies, The Lord of the Rings movies The Narnia movies.... probably way more I can't think of right now. I'm not saying it will happen with the dark materials set i'm simply saying I'd love to see some parents faces if it did ![]()

Trilogy movies are made exactly how they were written, while other series other than trilogies...eh, thats pretty improvised in the movies.

Have you watched the LotR trilogy? They messed tons of things up in that one... specifically in the Two Towers. Hollywood just improvises no matter what.
However, considering there are no news feeds about them being even in talks for the second one, I'm going to guess that they won't be doing it. They generally go into talks on those types of things in the second week or so of theatre showings. BACK ON TOPIC NOW, shall we? Twi, when are we going to put up the poll?

There have been tons of ideas earlier, s_tyong... Don't worry.
Has anyone mentioned Terry Brooks? He's an amazing author... Though quite a few of his books have a lot of blood, mostly his later ones. Magic Kingdom For Sale is a good serious though... I'm loving it.

Mmm...I used to like Terry Brooks... but something about his writing style is jarring to me now. I'm trying to get through Shannara right now. I think the main problem I have with him is his seeming aversion to ever using the characters' names outside of dialog.

I'm going to try to get the poll up today. My internet went down yesterday.
I'll have to look into Terry Brooks I've never heard of that author before.

So I'm finally home with some time to go through my bookshelves and I have a few more suggestions (not that we probably need them). Even if we don't read them for the club, I would suggest them for people looking for good books.
Sword-Dancer by Jennifer Roberson The Time of the Dark or The Ladies of Mandrigyn by Barbara Hambly Stormwarden by Janny Wurts Daughter of the Empire by Raymond Feist and Janny Wurts Magic's Pawn by Mercedes Lackey (actually she has lots of books which are good) Keepers of the Edanvant by Carole Nelson Douglas

Wellll...has any mentioned the famous and rather obvious Harry Potter books? Though, I don't think we need to disscus those.
How about the (fairly old) Enchanted Chronicles? Dealing With Dragons Searching For Dragons Calling On Dragons Talking To Dragons by Patricia C. Wrede? They're hilarious and very interesting...and the writer does a very good job.

Mmk... I'm listening to my broadway mix... which made me think of Wicked. I haven't read it... but I intend to and I've heard it's very enjoyable.

I'm adding all the new suggestions to the book list I have saved on my computer. As for wicked I've started reading it, and if it is to be put on a future poll it will probably have to be in the 18 and up age range. I'm only a forth through it and there are some 'adult situations'.
